Android |OT5| The Sonic Cycle

I don't mind the design if it's all real leather but it looks like they will have multiple models? Don't like that. Pick a design unless you're making a cheaper phone.

Looking at the microsite I see many mentions of a P1 in the text. Yet all the renders of the device say G4 on the back. What are we being teased here? The actual G4 or something else?

No idea why they keep calling it the P1 when the code says G4 but maybe it's a placeholder.

Also, they put a 3000mah battery in it. Bless them. Now make a smaller nexus with the same battery LG. Much appreciated.

It seems like many of the specs are just the G3 specs, maybe because they'll be similar? The video page links to a bunch of G3 videos and even fan speculation videos. What a weird site.

the 28th can't come soon enough.

Um yes there is.

But... there isn't... :(

Should be interesting.

Also, for lulz, here are the latest US market share numbers. Nothing really interesting but decent for LG I guess:

i'm just playing, it's okay.

I dunno if anyone really uses SnapChat regularly here, But I've noticed an issue in opening up received ones and stories. At least, I'll try to open it. Only for the Snap to abruptly close and the timer to continue. Anyone else experience this shit?

The snapchat story issue I'm having is sorta similar, but it shows some (not all) video in almost a stop motion way, no audio, and just frames of the video, but only showing like every 5th frame. I'm sure they'll patch it next week.

What REALLY grinds my gears, though, is that the notifications from Samsung's email program aren't actionable...i.e. you can't delete an email from their notifications.

Well deserved for Apple, they're doing all the little things right.

Here are a handful of pictures the Blues game this afternoon using an S6 Edge. The thing you need to realize is that the lighting always changes at a hockey game. These were taken with no flash and default camera settings.
Amazing. Wow.

That G4 looks a lot like a Nexus 5. Big bottom bezel and all. The leather back looks terrible, though, with that seam down the middle. At least they're kinda going the Moto Maker route though.

Those photos look really damn good.

My mom bought an s6 today. Photo quality is unreal but can't get over the battery loss that panel must bring. Not to mention the standby drain being much worse than my KitKat moto x. Hopefully Sammy releases 5.1 soon.

The G4 dimensions seem bigger than the G3. Though apparently it's slightly curved?

I don't know...unless the camera blows everything out of the water or it's significantly cheaper than the S6 (which is like $800 on AT&T), I may have to award Samsung this year.

That's why you don't use that app

Week of the 20th is the new rumor. Google is really showing their true colors this year. They have some serious issues in android dev management.
I just hate the lack of transparency. At least when one plus delayed oxygen os they explained exactly what was talking so long and tried to offer frequent updates. I'd like to know what's going on with some hardware not getting it yet. What's the issue, what's the tentative timeline.

I don't even know what their priorities are anymore.

This has been a really bad year for android. I really wish the media would start calling them out for it. I'd bitch more with you but then some of the other posters on here will just start flaming me as usual.

wait...the LG4 uses SD 810 ?
and why everyone hate the leather back ? its look good
but .. a 2K screen and 2 GB of RAM ( 16 GB Memory ),
and 3GB RAM for the 32 GB Memory ?
who will get the 16GB version then ?

Google has never spoken about Android updates though. The presumed timeframe is and has always been "When It's Done." If you don't like this, stop using stock Android.

Note 4 is beast. Laying in bed and using multitasking to split-screen a calculator and online homework felt surprisingly relaxing. I should do more homework like that.

Lollipop is great and while a slight performance downgrade, I'll take it because the OS itself is so much nicer to use. Also, yeah, Google screwed over Nexus users this year. They should do a public beta like Apple.

S6 Edge is GOAT so slippery though. Have had it slide off my couch like 3 times. Gorilla Glass don't fail me now!

I might need a case for my Z3 for this reason - it just fell of the arm of my sofa onto my wooden floor again. Leather sofa too, so not slippery at all.

Is there a good, minimal case - ideally transparent - that will at least stop it being so slippery but not make it look horrible (I'm a fan of naked usually, but his phone is nexus 4 levels of slippery)

It would need to work with the magnetic charging dock too

The specs from that site seem to just be a copy paste of the G3 specs. There's a lot of unknowns still, we can't know for sure until the proper announcement/more leaks.

Right. Any counter argument is already declared invalid, because it will be a flame.

Couple of things:

1) It's only April, we haven't had I/O yet

2) We've only seen one version of Android released, which essentially fixed most of the issues in 5.0 (although it as appears there is still a memory leak, it's far less of a problem)

3) Samsung has probably released the best Android phablet ever made and phone.

Now if you want to talk about last year...

N9 a big let down

N6 ditched the discount price

5.0 is gorgeous, but suffered from bad memory leaks.

I think it's way too early to say it's a bad year for Android when we're barely a few months in. And in context, WP is still doing nothing and iOS hasn't really pushed the envelope.
