Android |OT6| Huawei or the iWay [Nobody Reads Edition]

So maybe you Android fans can explain something to me: why in the hell doesn't Android support CalDAV or CardDAV? I understand it's a Google platform so use Google services, but even Apple has built in support for these standards.

I got a Gear VR yesterday. It's seriously impressive. The Netflix app alone just makes you feel like you're watching a movie on a 70-80" TV.

Quite a steal at $100 for anyone with one of the 4 Samsung phones that use it. The S7 better support it lol

I've been wanting to try it out. Did you get a Bluetooth controller too, or just the headset for now? I'm just curious how the experience is with and without a controller.

Instead of bitching about the quality of posting, post some shiteee to get discussion going.

Regardless, I've never said anything that wasn't the truth and I always try to help people when they do ask a random question here. Most others do as well. It's only when there's not a lot to talk about that people start messing around.

I tried with my CardDAV/CalDAV question but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just the headset. I haven't tried any games on it. Just watching videos. I need to try some games though. Sad the DS3/4 don't work correctly.

Nice. Thanks for the reply. I need to jump in as it is relatively inexpensive for the tech. I liked my Google Cardboard experience and that's more crude than this.

Lets be real, you know the answer is because google gonna goog. It's a fact we have come to accept lol.

I really don't use enough apps. I used to just download everything and try stuff out but now I pretty much stick to my main handfull. I have to try some of these. Especially this 'netflix' app. Sounds promising.

This shit right here. This thread would be much, much more pleasant and frequented by a large group of people if it wasn't for the 4-6 top posters in this thread who are absurdly vitriolic and downright unpleasant.

I'm not even in the Top 15 posters and I have no idea what you're going on about right now. You're either projecting a little too hard or just delusional.

"This thread sucks!" Has three posts in thread.

Post what you want to see or make your own thread. I don't see hostility or negativity in this thread. Just a bunch of tech lovers that are pretty objective. On the other hand, you have the Apple thread where people defend 1GB RAM.

Talking about apps, why is it that the default Samsung Galaxy S6 camera app is as bad as it is? And why can't I find a different app that actually does what I want?

What I want is for it to behave like the Nokia Lumia Camera (not the manual one though): Set an automatic shooting mode/scene (in my case "sport" or something alike the does whatever necessary to keep shutter time faster than 1/60 second) and have that scene be the default whenever I start the camera app. As is the Samsung app does have scenes, but after every start, and due to the overly aggressive ram management there's a lot of those, it defaults to the default scene and there's no way to make a different scene the default scene. Maddening.
Other apps either don't have scenes or manual apps (at least those tested so far by me) don't adjust the ISOs automatically when setting manual exposure time.

If anyone has a recommendation I'd certainly be thankful.

Honor 7 or One Plus 2? Or is there another flavour of the month in that price range? 90% of the use would be Chrome or YouTube. Not really interested in apps.

If that's all your going to do with the phone, there's no reason to spend more than $200. Also if you really want one of those two, get the Honor 7. The One Plus 2 is a pile of garbage. I've owned it and it was the worse smartphone experience I ever had.

My Note 5 keeps saying I don't have a SIM card, after being on for about 30 or so minutes so I have to keep restarting it. Anybody have this problem?

I had my phone for almost 2 months and didn't start having this issue until about 2 days ago and it's too frequent.

I'm with Verizon, if that matters.

always start with factory reset

if that doesn't solve it maybe it's a problem with the sim slot/card. But try the reset first.

I've had mine since October and don't have that issue, of course mine is on AT&T. Sounds like a hardware issue though.

Try a factory reset first though, might work.

Haven't had a chance to see Netflix on it, but was totally underwhelmed by the Gear with an S6 after using Google Cardboard.

I think the price is just right, though.

Need a new phone asap this week. Nexus 6 is DEAD.

I want a bigger screen still, and these are the ones being offered to my by my carrier for free due to my nexus dying.

Sony Xperia® Z5
Samsung Galaxy S6 edge
Nexus 6P
Samsung Galaxy Note 4
LG G4

I mainly use my phone to take pics, videos, and do some creativity stuff like take notes or brainstorm an artwork. Thats why Im kinda leaning towards the Note 4, but dunno how it is in comparison with the other options. I def want good battery life.

Note 4 for sure if note taking and drawing is important. There really is no substitute for the S pen.

Yeah. I really like the 6P since its the newest one and updates are guaranteed for a while. The Note is definitely tempting due to the pen. But not sure how good the Spen is in reality.

I just got a wacom tablet, so Ive fallen in love with pen devices.

EDIT :

I can also get the Note 5 from my carrier. but ill have to pay $100. But have heard its somewhat of a downgrade compared to the Note 4.

It has a better everything than the 4 except having no SD and removable battery.

The 6P is the first choice. Note 5 in case you want a stylus you'll only use for the first week. $100 is a no brainer.

Hello, you wonderful people!

Question: Is there any way to add a gmail address to the gmail app without having to add it to the OS's account system, or do I have to download a third party email app?

I would make a second user account, but Samsung unfortunately removed that feature from the Lollipop update for my phone.

Yeah, swipe from the left, then click on the down arrow by your email address and click add account.

That doesn't work, unfortunately. That still adds it to the OS wide account system. I don't want the other Google account at a system level. Guess I'll just have to get another email app. Thanks, though!
