What's DROID™-GAF's impression of the iPhone 7?

It is Iphone 6ss. Your usual upgraded soc, as expected, and welcome to ....2013? Waterproof yay!. Stereo speakers....but not on the front, stupid imo. And no headphone jack, instead an adaptor so you cannot charge an listen to music unless using BT. Lol.
Camera is a similar approach as LG took with G5, probably better executed though.... curious about low light performance vs best camera right now (S7/Note)

I guess best news for apple, and fans, is Note 7exploding than the Iphone 7 itself.

Oh yes, 32GB at least the base model.

Great device, but iOS after all, and too expensive, as the Note 7. Not worth.

No, but it's silly to compare two wildly different products. If you want a traditional BT headset, get a traditional BT headset...

This is the AirPod's competition (that I know of). They're more expensive with worse battery life. The Samsung one is seriously advertising 1-3 hours :S

Jaybirds still have a wire between them, right? IconX I think has much less battery life.

there's also these. man all these battery lives are pure shit.

all these wireless solutions are crap right now

These kind of headphones are silly for the same reasons I mentioned. Pure garbage. At least you can use regular headphones without an adapter on other phones.

That wireless trash is pure nonsense.

Yeah. Though they are super slim, super light blutooth buds. And with respect to the iconx they do try to do some extra things (heartrate tracking).

Still I feel those are competitors.

Overall I's say 5hrs with the quick charge case is pretty decent for the form factor.

Jaybirds earbuds are slightly bigger though. I want the Jaybirds, but worry they might not fit well under headwear in the winter. Freedom is smaller, but has an extra box containing the battery I presume.

I kinda wish we see something similar for all platforms. 5 hours and $150 I can swallow.

Edit: IconX looks like the kitchen sink. I wish Samsung had just tried making a decent pair of headphones instead of adding heartrate tracking and a fucking mp3 player.

I'm still not really sure how I feel about the 7, and I switch to Android for a year or so now and then anyway, so could anyone reccomend me a handful of phones they think are the best from a hardware feel perspective? I don't do anything crazy with my phone and don't care a ton about specs, I just want something that feels as solid and indestructible as my iPhone does. Would really like a quality finger print scanner as well but not required. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

The biggest disappointment is that everyone was waiting for the new feature that redeems the removal of headphone jack and all we got was... Courage.

Still no fast charging or wireless charging or any innovation on that front.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Oh, it will. We basically know everything about the new Nexus/Pixel phones, and there's no secret sauce there. The camera is nearly the same as last year's except with OIS, apparently.

I'm mostly looking forward to the launch of Google Home, and mildly interested in hearing/seeing Google's Daydream headset.

Out of all of this I'll admit I can kinda excited for DayDream, but then again it's the only thing actually NEW at any of these events.

S7, S7 Edge, or OnePlus 3.

Wait 4 weeks for the new Google Pixel phones.

If you need something today that is the Android equivalent of an iphone then look at the HTC 10. Samsung's have too much bloat and double features.

If he wants apple sturdy then glass back S7 might not be it.

Axon 7 HTC 10 are also good aluminum body phones too that survive jerryrigeverything bend tests.

Yeah, for something durable go to OP3, Axon 7, or HTC 10. For best hardware feel in hand get a s7 or s7 edge. Also you could wait for new Nexus also, but pricing is a question mark on that right now. I expect it to be high.

So dumb, I realized why Android Pay crashed when trying to add a card. When I moved from dp5 to release play services never updated. So great for apkmirror

Oh I like the idea. Eliminates the need for a phone when out exercising. Though it can be done as well with a watch.

Thanks all! I know a few people at the office with some of the reccomends so I'll track them down and palm their phone a bit. Not sure what an Axon is though will have to look into that.

Why do Apple fans just bend over and accept no headphone jack and other things like the horrible antenna design that looks cheap, yet pay a premium price? If that was an Android phone it would be getting shit all over.

because they have no choice.

if it was an Android phone, people could just buy a different Android phone.

It's the pet phone of the sub for a bit, hardware wise its the king for $400.

So if we assume Google is doing a live press event and we go off the 3 week theory...

screenshot_20160831-1ztsf9.png

Then if Google doesn't send out invites till next week at the earliest we are looking at October event. Sept would basically be a no go, unless it was like the 28th or 29th and they sent invites out tomorrow.

So basically another month of no Nexus event or devices.

So... when are we going to see the first ad from Samsung LG or whomever dissing Apple's headphone jack thing?

Surely other companies must have a few queued up in anticipation for today's thing.

edit:

lol damn that ether.

If you're gonna go wireless headphones, go for over-ears. Way better sound, way better noise cancelling (both active and passive) and waaaaaaaay better battery life (20+ hours even on the most tech-using headsets). 170 Euro for in-ears that provide the quality of 30 Euro wired headphones is just a ridiculous high amount, at least the examples you post have some more high-end tech.

It takes some serious courage to request users to play along with shit like that. I would hope it leads to this thread getting a lot of new faces soon, because that kind of stuff needs to be shut down at once.

What annoys me the most with this headphone bullshit is that there seem to be no quality options for people who don't like in-ears and over-/on-ear headphones. I just want good earbuds, with 3-button controls, if possible, and no one makes them.

planning on getting a midrange phone. I realize lately that I dont really need a high end phone cause I just usually browse, call, text and music.
Can't really decide between p9 lite and zenfone 3.
I could higher like op3 or maybe the new nexus but in my home country. Support is gonna be awful.

So I've had my Nexus 5X for about maybe 2 weeks now, and suddenly I'm having ghost touch problems on the phone.

Literally came out of nowhere. It was working perfectly one second, I plugged it in to charge it, and went to unlock the phone to set my alarm and the screen just kept thinking I was touching the middle of the screen.

How much more would it be to get a Honor 8, Axon 7, or OP3?

If you can swing it Id definitely go with that range. If not the P9 seems OK.

Do you guys remember when apple ditched the printer port, serial port, mouse port, the floopy disk, etc? How that worked out for them?

There at least they replaced them with newer standard ports (usb).

Here they've done I'd argue medium term damage to the whole headphone ecosystem with both an exclusive headphone standard (whilst the rest of the world presumably goes usb-c) as well as producing bloothtooth headphones that only work with Apple hardware.

Courage would have been to dump lightning for usb-c. And then I'd have less issues.

I was thinking the same thing. To be fair, I suspect there would be more of an uproar if they changed connectors than by removing the headphone jack. There is no going back from Lightning now with all of these new accessories, etc. The funny part is they use USB-C on their Macbooks. I'm assuming that will change at some point. However, the statements about USB-C on their website is funny considering the hype about Lightning yesterday.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204360

USB-C is a next-generation industry standard that allows charging, data transfer, and video—all in one simple connector. Your MacBook comes with one USB-C port:

http://www.apple.com/macbook/

As long as we were including a port for charging your MacBook, we wanted to make sure it was the most advanced and versatile one available. The USB-C port puts just about everything you need in a port all in one place. This amazing port provides charging, speedy USB 3 data transfer, and video output in a reversible design that’s one-third the size of a USB 3 port, giving you the flexibility to easily connect your favorite devices.

http://www.apple.com/macbook/design/
To create a notebook as thin and light as MacBook, we had to strive for efficiency in every detail, right down to how it connects to peripherals and power. The multifunction USB-C port is a new universal connectivity standard that combines the essential functions you need every day in one small, reversible port.

There is no denying there is a financial element to Lightning enabled accessories. Though, you have to wonder if they could make even more money if they used USB-C. Sure, they give up their proprietary standard; however imagine if their accessories could be used by all USB-C enabled phones. Of course the number of devices with USB-C is limited right now, but that will change very soon.

At the end of the day, I suspect the fall out of removing the headphone jack will quickly die down and be a non-issue. It's an iPhone, people are going to buy it no matter what. Apple knows that which is why these decisions can be made.

They had to go with USB-C on computers only because they need to work with wider range of devices. iPhone/iPads are completely within their own walled garden.

It's a shame. Sure would be nice to use headphones on my pc. Guess I'll just blast all the free porn day stuff through the home stereo.
