Android |OT7| Now With a Whole New Messaging System

snacknuts

we all knew her
Got a text from TMobile saying I got a free upgrade to unlimited 4G LTE until Feb. 2019.

They consistently spoil us.

Got the same. Out of curiosity, I checked how much data I've been using since I joined at the October and I don't think I've ever hit 2GB in a month. But hey, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Been hitting 10GB consistently the last 3-4 months, but I had about 20GB stashed to the point it didn't even matter.

I read some where that also forgoes your data stashing forever.

Too far down the line to even worry about. My guess is you'll have it return to you after the promo is over, just whatever is stashed currently will be gone by then.

To any of you guys having Android System battery Drain on Nougat, check your Google Accounts backup and sync. In my case, certain things like Google Calendar and Keep would fail to sync and they would enter into a loop where they'd just fail over and over endlessly keeping the phone from going into deep sleep until Doze kicked in.

Disabling sync and re-enabling it and making sure that everything backed up properly completely fixed it for me. My Android System drain went from over 40% to less than 5% during the last week.

Yo, might be a first time Android user very soon if my family decides they want to upgrade their phones this year. I don't like Samsung's UI/design at all and don't want any bloat on my phone slowing it down. What are consistently the best brands in the Android market and why?

I heard about the new LG being amazing for audio but I don't wanna buy a phone that has incredible audio and eh everything else. Sony seems good but I'm worried about losing support for my device faster than I would an iPhone. Nexus looks like the best to me, how accurate is that?

LG phones have horrible bloat and build quality. I'd go with OnePlus 3, ZTE Axon 7, or the Nexus line. Their new phones likely come out the end of October if you can wait.

You are correct in that Google's phones would be best for you. However the Nexus phones are no more and Google is just doing their own phones now called the Pixel and Pixel XL.

The Nexus program is done for phones as far as we know. You mean the Google Pixel phones.

Is there a way to hide the home button bar without root? The burn in is getting ridiculous.
"...but burn in was fixed in 1998."

Edit: Snark aside, I'm not familiar with mods for the navigation buttons, but in addressability you can invert colors to possibly reverse some of the effect. Toggling it gives me a quick setting for it so you can flip it off for a picture etc.

Nexus 6P. I can't watch porn in peace with those ugly image retention marks distracting me.

I'm trying the inverted color trick right now.

maybe try this? hasn't been updated since 2014 though.

i'm honestly surprised 'burn-in' is still a thing. With how prevalent AMOLED panels are on android you'd expect google or at the very least samsung to implement some 'tricks' to lower the odds of that happening (shift the notification bar a bit? idk).

I don't think it's really possible. Burn in on AMOLED to my knowledge is caused by uneven wear so the only solution would be to make sure everything got equal wear.

Shifting the bar would mabye blur it a bit, but it's easier to do on a TV where content isn't (wasn't) made to be pixel perfect. Would't fix the issue of the black bar itself burning in either unless you really moved it around :p

I think it's really just "Consumers want AMOLED/oversaturated colors, most won't notice it and it's good enough for phones being replaced every 1-2 years".

With Apple seemingly going samsung amoled next year, gonna be curious to see what tricks they got. iPhones typically last longer than 2 years (passed down to family etc).

Apple are rumoured to be looking at AMOLED every year. I'll believe it when I see it.

Next year iPhone's OLED is not going to be Samsung but Foxconn/Sharp or whatever they are called now, it will be fun to see what will come out of that since Sharp as far as i know never worked on OLED tech so, aside the typical problems this technology has, in my opinion there's the chance that it will have more problems and/or not be on par with Samsung's and LG's panels.

Whatever happens Apple users are going to have a nice surprise with burn-in and image retention.

I gotta say, the battery life on my 6p has been pretty much ass ever since installing nougat. Is there a way to go back to marshmallow without having to wipe out my phone?

How long do you guys think until Google solves this issue with this bug because it's the operating system that's draining the battery the most according to my battery report.

They'll probably have it fixed with 7.1 which I think Ruddock mentioned is coming out with the Pixel phones.

The thing has been in beta for like months how could they screw up the final version?

Does the G5 still have the GPS issues and other faults, or is it worth picking up now? It's really cheap at the moment and I'm really considering it.

What's the best budget phone for under $200? I've been buying my mom a Moto G every year for her birthday but fuck Motorola.

What kind of crappy video player are you using that won't go fullscreen?

I don't think you know what image retention is

Maybe but this doesn't use BT, as it's the only thing that uses its tech, it leads the other stuff which does 0 hours in the dust

It uses Bluetooth. It works on all ios devices that support 10. So from 5 and up.

Seems like the magic chip in the buds address the common stutter and other things associated with Bluetooth. Maybe? Guess people will have to wait for more technical breakdowns when the stuff is out in October.

It should work on android too I'm guessing if it's just Bluetooth.

But at their heart, these are Bluetooth devices, so it will be interesting to see if Apple has managed to make them sound better than typical wireless headphones.

Because they are Bluetooth, you can also connect the AirPods to non-Apple devices, though then they will work like typical Bluetooth devices, requiring manual pairing, etc.

Easy when the final update was hella tiny

Thanks for beta testing 7.0 for everyone guys. You are real troopers.
Your welcome

Then wtf is up with them. Unless this magic chip not seeing a phone7 and "messing up" on purpose if it really is just for the BT problems before the new BT standard
