I just did a quick read about system apps vs. user apps. I kind of understand the difference. I'm curious why being a system app would allow the swipe to work, though? I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'd just like to know why system apps can provide that functionality while user apps cannot?

Probably for security reasons. Sony's launcher is an exception but they probably worked with google and that is on the system level.

It's the reason why nova launcher or others doesn't have the option for 'swipe' for google now.

Damn, I guess I should jump on the Axon 7 considering the pricing for the Pixel phones. I really wanted to switch to Google Fi, but maybe I can stick with my struggle reception if the Axon actually does get call/text over wi-fi support.

If your phone is rooted, install something like Wakelock Detector to monitor your apps and see if there's a faulty one that keep sucking the battery life.

I was actually thinking of installing Greenify and see how it goes. bleh. thought I left that all behind with the Note3

ZTE is promising to be the first phone with daydream support so I'd imagine it's a priority for them. As for updates, last year's Axon Pro received Marshmallow in February which is inline with other Android Flagships. For reference the OnePlus 2 didn't receive Marshmallow until June. Axon Pro has also been receiving monthly security updates so that's a good sign.

Hopefully the relaunched not exploding Note 7s will go for a discount after the fiasco.

I was told this on the google forums, so hopefully this afternoon I am back in business. Also an FYI, reset your phone from settings and not recovery mode.

It should be 24 hours from the time of your password change - so hopefully you'll be able to log in within a few hours.
To avoid this in the future, be sure to initiate the factory reset option from within Android (Settings > Backup & Reset > Factory Data Reset). Since you have to authenticate to your device first (by unlocking your lockscreen), the phone knows that it is you requesting the reset and will unbind the device from your account. As you found, resetting the phone from recovery trips the Factory Reset Protection to prevent a thief from being able to easily wipe and use/sell your device

Sure for battery, price, processor but when it comes to the people that care about daydream one should wait for Google's announcement. Then we can understand more about the hardware daydream support in the 821.

It may not matter or it may but it's probably worth waiting for the info. Unless I'm mistaken and there is no Axon model with the 821.

people shouldn't be buying a phone just for VR regardless. I mean a daydream capable phone already means it got the specs and the screen so its a good phone.

It comes with one out of the box. I've been using it fine. Phone dropped off a counter with it on with no damage lol.
