You chose an analogy that deliberately removed any notion of agency or opportunity to exercise it on the part of person B. You were being deliberately deceptive (choosing an analogy which lacked any time to or ability to exercise choice) in order to further your own agenda and self-interest. You just commited the same crime you're getting high and mighty about and by your own clear-cut rationalization I, along with all those who read your deliberately deceptive analogy, are victims of your "immoral" intention to decieve.
However, the thing that prevented me and others from being drawn in and joining your morally misguided crusade was exercising our agency to think about it critically and choose not to be taken in. The deception was committed but we did not lack the ability to exercise our agency not to be taken in and become "victims"
I am no more a victim of your deception than she was of Joe's... if there really was any - we have only her account at this point.

What the fuck is Patton Oswalt talking about here? If anything James Rolfe is one of the most articulate people in the business. Sure he has immature humor sometimes, but that's what made him famous. When it comes to his cinematic critique and discussions, he speaks with an authentic enthusiasm that most personalities online lack. He speaks clearly, and doesn't have the "noisy, thick-saliva swallowing" in his voice that he's talking about. Makes me honestly surprised that Oswalt has worked with Redlettermedia so much. This was so fucking embarrasing. Having followed James' work for about 10 years at that point, it was clear as day that his words were sincere and not even in any way offensive - he is like the biggest Ghostbusters fan, he hates (bad) modern takes on classic formulas, and he felt like the trailer was not what he as a fan wanted from Ghostbusters, so he would not see it. The only reason he made a big video about it is to save himself a few thousands emails pestering him about his opinion on the movie.They tried.

Just think about it - people actually attacked him and labelled him a misogynist because he stated that he wouldn't watch and review a movie. Probably because that's where he has the most room? It does look like a spacious kitchen, and he doesn't use it for traditional dining. Bedroom is probably cramped in comparison.

I have red that entire text now and I am pretty sure this is a non-issue, a non-event. Assuming that her written account is truthful, then yes, Angry Joe has been awkward and should have known that as the bigger, more powerful personality he has more power in this situation and might intimidate her. But please, there were way, way too many points where she just could have said No and walked out. Apparently she wanted out during this entire ordeal, so why not just walk?

I'd doubt the "floodgates" reliability too. If this is on twitter or some random forum, then it's easy to pile on seeking attention or just being part of the "cause" and the platform will allow it. If anyone bothers to check the claims, it will probably be too late.

Totally agreed. I'll leave it to the experts to find out if this is actual harassment or not but I suspect men will have to walk on eggshells in the future to avoid having their lives ruined by things like this. The mob mentality on display when it comes to this is just insane. People wanted to crucify Depp before they found out he was the victim all along.
People should stick to facts or let investigators take over. Making a media circus out of it serves no purpose. It just turns into an echo chamber where the accused gets raked over the coals before any facts can be established.

Reading through this topic I think if this story has any truth to it he probably called this correctly.
Here's where I think so far nobody here has seen the wood for the trees.
This is textbook female streamer drama. Create drama, get banned or called out and then your subs, superchats, patreon goes up with all the simps defending you. There's absolutely no downside to making these accusations even when disproved. Heck, even if AJ fans come after you or even if they DON'T just claim you've received so many bad messages (No need to show them) and it's even more exposure for you! Win win.

First, I like most AJ's videos, he seems quite honest in most of his reviews and I appreciate his effort to make the humor, even if some were not funny and cringey.
2nd, I do not know him personally, so I would say his real life persona and youtube persona may be different.
Now 3rd, I read the article posted by OP, was that all of her account, receipt and evidence? If there are more, someone please do post it here, as I couldn't be bothered to find more.

I understand that in many sexual assault cases, evidence is very hard to prove, and coming out may lead to a lot of ridicule and false accusations, so that why for all sexual assault victims we should give the BENEFIT of DOUBT. We should listen as if they're honest. However, when accusing someone of such criminal behaviour as sexual assault, one must always present substantial evidence. It is not up to the accused (predator) to prove their innocence, this is THE SAME IN ALL CRIMES. You accuse someone of punching you? That's terrible, but you have to provide proof. You accuse someone of stealing your stuffs? That's terrible, but you still have to prove it. That is the case for all crimes. You can cancel people like Cosby and Weinstein for all you want, since they've been proven guilty. When the evidence shown is strong and credible, then it's up to the accused to prove his innocence.
If the due process works where the accused must prove his/her innocence solely by being accused, this whole world will be in chaos. Somebody just pay 20 women to accuse you, and you will have no time to prove to every single one of them, no time to work etc, all year round you are just proving innocence all day long.

Look, as much as I like AJ's videos, I don't give a damn on what happens to him, if he is really predatory, then he can get cancelled all the way to the moon and back. So now then, we come to this woman's evidence....which is extremely weak.
Most of the conversations are "supposedly" between her and somebody else, which all of them has the user being censored, and none of it mentions AJ at all. This kind of screenshot can be used just for anybody, and can be easily photoshopped. In the initial tweets/DM, she showed all the screen with AJ in the profile, with all the name mentions (ashley and Joe) and all, and in the subsequent tweet, there is no evidence of who is talking to who, except for an admission of "Matt" of 4% Overwatch. These are shady as hell, and proves nothing. You want to come out and accuse someone with evidence but protect need to show privacy and hides important info of the evidence? Sorry it doesn't work that way.
Why do we need to see her profile and the other party's profile? Because we need to corroborate, that's why. If both party produce the same evidence, then it became a very strong evidence against Joe, which makes the whole story clearer, more credible, and good for everyone.
If it is just like what the screenshot says, no mention of Ashley, no mention of the other party, no mention of Joe, then it's pure nonsense. I went to the doctors last week, and i could hear someone a bit behind me as i was opening the door. So i held the door open for them, but then saw the danger hair, and i let go of the door and walked in.
