Anime/MangaGaf: Out of the Big 3, which do you enjoy the most?

One Piece

Oda has built a fantastic world for One Piece, with plenty of awesome characters & designs. Its pretty much the most enjoyable manga out of the three for me especially when it comes to surprises or "Oh Shhhiiit" moments.

To not answer the thread, my "big 3" are:

1. One Piece
2. HxH
3. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

To answer the thread, Naruto occasionally had good fights but also was often unreadable (including right now) and doesn't have very good characters. I only liked Bleach during the Soul Society arc, and if I could go back in time I would warn myself to stop reading it there. I fell in love with One Piece from the very beginning, with the world and the characters as they were gradually introduced and explored.

Lol, what?

The anime ended SPECIFICALLY because they were catching up way too fast to the manga and didn't want to put out fillers anymore.

It had ZERO to do with declining popularity.

Bleach might not be *as* big as the other two when taken as a complete whole, but let's not try and pretend the series isn't mainstream and beloved.

Bleach has sold more than 82 million copies in Japan

Not bad at all. It might reach a 100 million when all said and done. Most Shonen don´t sell nearly as much.

Kingdom is pure distilled epicness, there is never a moment where shit isn't going down.

I put it in a different group than the usual shounen suspects, its too good for that.

It has a good amount of shounen tropes though. The thing is, it has a lot more going for it as well.

One Piece. I really like the world and humor, though it's been falling off lately. The other two I read out of habit (don't think they are good shonen at this point) while one my way to read One Piece. Hunter x Hunter is the only shonen I like as much as One Piece. Recently I haven't been reading much manga (or watching anime) outside there four.

Onepunch-man

To answer the thread specifically, One Piece is miles ahead. It's not even comparable, really. Oda is just a far better writer.

Bleach all the way and by an extremely long distance. I can't stand most manga/anime but for some reason I just can't enough of Bleach.

I even enjoyed Bleach's filler and I wish the anime was still on.

Naruto I haven't liked since they were young and One Piece just turns me off for some reason.

One Piece is light years ahead.

Naruto hasn't been great since 2003, and hasn't been worth reading since whenever that pein rubbish happened.

Bleach stopped being good after the initial soul society arc ended.

OP isn't great at the moment (hasn't been since Marineford ended), but it's at least on an upwards tick since the crap that was grey terminal/fishman island/punk hazard ended. But at it's worst it's better then either of the other two have been in close to a decade. The OP anime has been pretty rubbish since the director changed sometime between Enies Lobby & Thriller Bark era though.

I don't read One Piece but I'm aiming to fix that soon.

Of the remaining 2: Bleach. Naruto has been awful for quite some time now. Bleach isn't stellar material but it's still entertaining.

Naruto. It has its share of problems but it clicks with me.

Bleach's Soul Society Arc was pretty great but since then it went downhill. Still watched it till the end and will resume when anime comes back.

Tried getting into One Piece but gave up after 20 episodes. Will try again some day. I hear one is supposed to watch until like 70th episode for it to grab you. ;(

Naruto post time skip is garbage. Bleach post Soul Society is garbage. I have never given One Piece my full attention because I heard that he was at the Grand line and never found the treasure. And I was not sticking around for that stretching the story BS.

Naruto > Bleach > One Piece > Shippuden > Washed Up Bleach

I'll admit that those Adult Swim teasers for Bleach was the most hype I've ever been for an upcoming anime though. Wasted potential.

One piece. No comparison with the other two.

I still read naruto just because I love many characters there but the story took a straight trip to dumbness.

Bleach I dropped it few years ago.

The characters, the world, the unlimited possibilities, the comedy, and most important of all the no-filler approach in the manga all make me continue to read one piece.
This last point is the most important to me. Characters need to practice? need power-ups? sure here skip it and get the meat. No lame chapters of x and y practicing.

I don't read any of them anymore because they've been running for ages, but One Piece is probably the best of them because it doesn't pretend to be deeper than what it actually is

The grand line is a like a world by it's own. Being there doesn't give you one piece automatically.

He has gotten just over half way through the grand line. One Piece has always been said to be at the end of the grand line.

No story stretching going on here.

One Piece is miles ahead of the other two choices in popularity, but even that can't compete with the real champion.

Keep trying, Oda!

One Piece. I gave up on Naruto and Bleach back in 2007. Its a shame because Naruto had the potential to be the best (awesome supporting cast), but sadly it became because the Sasuke show, so I stopped watching.

First off, Slam Dunk and YuYu weren't even being published for as long as these current 3 are.
Secondly, if you were to combine the sales of each of your selections and of the big 3, the sales far outweigh those as the ones you mentioned.

I do recognize that those 3 were strong contenders during their time and a dominant force to reckon with.
Especially Dragon Ball, dear God, I still love that manga. Loved Slam Dunk. Never got into YuYu but heard great things.

It's not an official name but it is a very popular name among manga readers.
Slam Dunk and YuYu were way bigger than Naruto and Bleach have ever been. How about comparing them all by a real metric? Average sales per volume:

Bleach: 1.36 million copies per volume
Naruto: 2.00 million copies per volume
YuYu Hakusho: 2.63 million copies per volume
Slam Dunk: 2.96 million copies per volume
One Piece: 4.79 million copies per volume
Dragon Ball: 5.48 million copies per volume

What were you saying earlier?

One Piece, even though the anime drags. Naruto certainly has some high points though and as for Bleach, I quit Bleach.

I kinda want to check on that (not that I can blame them for being sick and tired of filler) though it is funny that this is one of the best moments they may have ever had for filler (between Fullbring and final arcs) yet... nope, time to just sit on it until it ends.

Although I think usually think when the anime ends that's usually it, Inu Yasha's the one exception I know of, and to a lesser extent Urusei Yatsura but that was episodic in nature and they could easily just do OVA episodes and they made the final manga arc into a movie. Meanwhile something like Ruroni Kenshin seemed to have been done in by its filler arc (though I guess the OVAs covered some of the later material in a sense.)

Naruto and Bleach I both got into at the start. Bleach's Soul Society arc was amazing, and I hung through it all the way up to the start of the Fullbring arc where I finally dumped it. I'd complained for a long time about the chapters taking 30 seconds to read and having little detail though. I really don't have any interest in finding out what happens anymore.

Naruto I loved all the way through part one, and probably half the time in part two. It was still having some great moments, but I ended up losing interest in the middle of the big war that started. Might pick it up again someday.

One Piece I started up quite late, I think the manga was at the start of the war. I'd tried a bit of the anime long before, but it was just too silly for me to get in to. Struggled through the first few arcs, but enjoyed it more and more as it went on. By the time I got through Skypiea I was completely hooked and marathoned the rest. One of my favorite series to read today.

Speaking of the anime, Bleach was the most entertaining one personally. I still remeber waking up early am on Tuesdays for it on crunchyroll as it got going. The music was one of the best ost among the three and number one is still an iconic song. It also had the best chosen songs for its openings and endings with shojo s, harukaze, pray, ichrin no hana, blue, d-technolife, being some of the best. The fights were choreographed well and it was a mighty good take on arrancar saga making it good.

Naruto is second enjoyable, like part one more at least, rewatched it all 8 times thus far, narutos and sasuke vas in eng are perfect and it goes nicely. Shippuden is excellent but some of its fillers are questionable in content, i usually dont mind it as I like the stories but the ninja wives association and traveling circus was a bit much. Op and ed songs good favorites are lovers, heroes comeback, i can hear.

Bleach is still considered a big one?... even though it's near the bottom of the rankings? (manga)

Maybe he is going by US sales?

Out of the choices in the OP, One Piece by miles.

Naruto has its moments but it has been draaaaaaging as of late. Bleach is the definition of bad pacing with the recent chapters aside.

As far as actual top manga, I really need to check out Mob Psycho 100.

Hunter x Hunter is disqualified because the manga has to be being MADE to stay in the top 3 IMO :(

One Piece deserves its insane sales. In terms of taking its reader on an adventure, nothing comes close. Masterful world building, it never bogs you down with too much information or characters.

..

<---

It has the highest initial print run of any book in Japan and it's the best-selling manga series in history.

Ive read little of One piece, but only with that I already know is better than the other two shitfests. And I know it because ive read more of the other two.

So One Piece, the other two can rot in hell.

A friend want to lend me all the one piece volumes he has, maybe I start with that someday.

Only one I read is Bleach so that's my vote... Although that doesn't mean anything. Kubo is starting to get on my nerves with his storytelling.

I enjoy One Piece the most. The series just has the most charm for me.

If I were to rank them though, I would say One Piece > Naruto > Bleach.

One Piece is the best

Then Bleach despite its problems is still fairly enjoyable

Naruto sucks so hard and has continued to suck since the time skip outside of the occasional moment of not suck (immortals arc, pain arc up till the ending). People complained about the pacing in Bleach's war arc but Naruto somehow has an even worse war with even worse pacing that still has no end in sight.

One Piece, but I'd be okay with it ending right this second without any of the payoffs if I could have more Crows* or Worst chapters.

Naruto has interesting moments but when the author is quoted as saying he doesn't know where the story is going, that's worrying. Plus the whole war thing is dragged out like Namek X10000.

Bleach is like if you took the plot of that one Itchy and Scratchy where they keep pulling bigger and bigger pistols on each other, but set it to really cool character designs and poses. Every fight is filled with too many fakeout non-victories and really we're all just waiting for Aizen to return.

*That Crows Zero stuff doesn't count.

My favorite of the 3 is without a doubt One Piece.

However I'm worried that the manga will suffer the same problems Naruto and Bleach had once it gets to the upcoming power inflations.

One Piece

That said, first half was wayyyy better than the second half so far. I still have faith Goda will turn it around eventually. Or maybe that's hope I'm feeling.

Only watched a few episodes of One Piece. It's so huge at this point that I'm not sure if I really want to get into it. So, between the other two I would choose Bleach. I especially loved the translation into the anime where the VA really fit the characters and Shiro Sagisu's soundtrack was great.

Speaking of that, is there any possibility that when the manga wraps up that they'll animate the final arc?

One Piece. All day, every day. Fun, funny, always exciting, rarely if ever boring, well plotted, lovable characters, unique art style. Just overall a terrific manga.
