Anthem |OT| Fly, you fools!

Thanks man.

Were the servers an issue at all?

Is everyone already maxed out? How behind am I

Servers have been fine as far as I can tell. Some bugs like the no sound bug mid-mission have been annoying.

IDK about everyone being maxed out. They nerfed the chest run, so that probably curbed it a bit.

The 9 minute mark gives a pretty good reason to boycott the game, if it was't already a big pile of garbage.

When the servers were scheduled to launch they were down for most for 30 minutes to an hour and everyone list their minds.

Some bugs like getting disconnected after mission completes and others is being fixed.

A good amount of people are level 30.

There's a mission to enter 4 tombs and they require you to do a bunch of different things and people lost their minds again. I did them in 2 hours while doing other things.

And that's the major stuff.

That’s not irony. That’s reviewers reviewing the game they have right now, not the game that it might potentially become someday.

Or that reviewers are out of touch. If the core gameplay is fun players stick with it because they are having fun. Hell, fallout 76 has more players than REmake2 right now on Xbox. I don’t know myself about anthem but I am Interested to see for myself regardless.

Technical issues are legitimate concerns. Players of such games will showcase patience. Whether it was launch sfv and the server nightmare that was, rainbow six or the resurgent no man’s sky. It’s because it has players; it’s not just new players

What?? that's a surprise, i thought Anita made sure that their game is excellent when they invited her to their studio.

I just watched this, what a shame this is.. Can we not expect complete games when we pay full price for them. I really wanted to love this game but the facts are not looking good.

I've played just shy of 10 hours (EA Access) and I'm wondering if you can point out where it's blatant that she altered the story and writing of this game with the visit.

Datto's take on Anthem. I agree with him. I'm tired of buying games and waiting months till said games are actually good.

Destiny 1 with all of its flaws still had amazing gunplay, exotic gear and the raid. I don't see anything special about Anthem.

"But you can fly!"
Well, i bet flying isn't that useful in harder dificulties when enemies one shot you left and right.

Gotta be honest, really getting into looking around the fort and reading all the lore, stories and emails. Reminds me of MEA and the characters on the ship. If you haven't looked around the menu, it's really a cool little change of pace and builds the atmosphere

Destiny? Turned into a good game
Diablo 3? It’s pretty decent now.
No Man’s Sky? OK
Fallout 76? Still sucks but lots of people bought it anyway so HA

As much as people want to put it down I notice my friends who were playing it day 1 are still playing it, hour after hour. Must be something addictive in there.

You ever hear someone say “I hate this piece of shit game” and notice that didn’t stop them from playing 20hrs that week? Lol. I have... many, many, many, many times. Myself included

So, I started out fixated on Pulse Blast because of the shield bypass, but more useful in theory than practice so far.

Venom darts, which I disliked in the beta, is becoming my favorite skill. I'm rocking Venom Darts/Frag Grenade/Muster Point.

I'd like another detonator other than frag and ultimate. Why is muster point so tough to see through? Or is just me?

I really want to stack ultimate speed (cooldown). Wish they hadn't changed it from the beta where you could stack the components.

What you mean?

Someone needs to make a review thread!

I skip every interaction with an NPC. It's just *that* bad. I've just got past the tombs. I'm getting quite a lot of bugs and crashes. I think I'll put it down until the patch next week or whatever it is.

I'm not the only one that skips all the dialogue am I? I can't believe I'm doing that in a Bioware game.

Is there no weight/consequence to the conversations?

I'm happy to be corrected, but I don't think there is. You have two choices, which tend to be a serious reply or a jokey / sarcastic one and I haven't noticed anyone mention it creates unique paths or conciquences.

I’ve been in a hospital for 8 days, can someone give me a brief rundown of how things went with the Premier launch and how the game is being received?

It's an okay time waster game if you're looking for some buddy coop.

No, you are not the only one. I've never skipped dialogue like I did in Anthem.

Well I’ve been addicted to it on Xbox and have been judiciously limiting my 10 hour playtime. I’m at the end of it and Thursday I’ll pre-order it for the Origin Access discount.

I like the game a lot. The demo didn’t grab me completely but the early access hooked me. Personally I disagree with the early access but it is what it is. They have issues to work out and I am hopeful about the day 1 patch (heh heh heh) .

People are going ape shit because it isn’t mass effect... or is it???... and because they think Bioware’s day 0 code should live up to a game with 4+ years of patches and content. Cause... 2019.

Hopefully the game does well.

Storm--Colossus---Interceptor-----Ranger

That's the order of popularity based on my experience. It's kind of why I chose and enjoy Ranger.

Being able to revive people with my shield up as Colossus is awesome. Also Shock Coil + Flamethrower is a deadly combination for large crowds of enemies and one of my favorites.

Colossus looks awesome. Had a lot of fun w/ it in the beta.

Not sure how much time I'll have with work and Division 2 incoming, but I plan to do Colossus next.

If he doesn’t do the end game then it’s not a proper review of anthem. The end game are the meat and potatoes of these games. Not addressing that would make it a worthless review.

Day one reviews for live service games are suspect always for this very reason. You have to wait for it to go live and then see what kind of endgame there is.

Is this all we will see at launch window? Probably. Is that all that’s gonna be in the game even a month from now? No, it’s not.

Just got done watching this review. Absofuckinglutely brutal dismantling of all the things wrong with Anthem. This video alone has solidified my choice to avoid this game like the plague.

I had high hopes this game would at the very least elevate the looter shooter genre with Bioware’s legendary storytelling but obviously not. Abandon all hope.

I got caught up on the OT. Seems as mixed as expected. I can't blame people for being unhappy with it, necessarily.

Oh well. This afternoon I will be able to jump into the retail build for the first time. Can't wait.

I'm starting to think i'm the only person actually enjoying Anthem.
8 hours in the beta, 16 hours in the full game so far, and i'm playing solo.
Of course i wish Bioware had kept doing what they do best, but i enjoy the game.

Nah. I like the game plenty, but some of the issues really need some heavy ironing. At this point it's a pretty much a shitty great game. Lots of rough edges but feels great to play when it works.

So here's a novel idea. You can make first impressions only once. No, that's not the novel idea, that's a matter of fact.

How about getting rid of all the convoluted "who gets to play first"-schemes, and release the game for all at once? At which point the game should be ready. Not all this bullshit of "but it will all be fixed, when the game is really, truly, pinky swear, released?"
