Any games you haven't played for moral reasons, or because they simply make you uncomfortable?

I don't like hurting the monsters in Monster Hunter, so I dropped every single one I tried playing.

It's not a "moral" issue for me, is just not fun for me...

(Also, I dropped Resident Evil 1 Remake as soon as Neptune showed up...)

At this point in life I would find it extremely difficult to find something that would offend me. I have already experienced Postal, Hatred, Manhunt, No Russian, and State of Emergency.

I refuse to play Mario games since they constantly flaunt an unrealistic expectation of beauty.

I don't play games made in china or russia, no matter how interesting they may look. Same thing when a chinese company completely takes over a western studio - Techland instantly landed on my blacklist when they were bought by Tencent.

Even back when Hatred was released, I didn't feel anything offensive about it.

It was just too juvenile for me to be offended by it.

Is like the equivalent of trying to top Jordan Minnesota by Big Black (A serious song about a rape of a child, written from the perspective of the rapist), by releasing a PornoGrind song with awful Grindcore vocals and hyper muddy guitars.

"No Russian" and Manhunt offended me (In a good way, like the Big Black song), because I feel like the point wasn't just to offend. There was artistic value in it.
Of wanting to tackle very dark topic in a creative way.

And maybe that arguably can be applied to Hatred, but it very much doesn't for me.

I haven't played Hatred, it was too extreme to me, playing as a lonely loser psychopath killing innocent people.
I don't have problems with GTA V on the other hand.

No Russian mission is fantastic. Not in a cheap-thrill way, just like you said, done with immense artistic value for sure and a bold fucking thing to put in Call of Duty.

First couple Modern Warfare games were great.

Add SNK to that list. Now owned by the Saudi Royal Family who kidnapped a journalist in another country and beheaded him.

I dropped Manhunt a few minutes in after asphyxiating an enemy with a plastic bag. That's just too much for my tastes.

Yeah... I only watched like 1 minute of a compilation with all the executions (I saw the plastic bag one) and I was out.

I respect Manhunt and how bold Rockstar were to release it, but I have zero desire in playing it.

Cyberpunk 2077. Close friend who wants to play the game passed away 3 yrs before release. He thought game may release sooner but it got delayed. He never had a chance to play it.

I'm reluctant to spend money on Xbox stuff these days. Looking back I've spent thousands on the brand but enough is enough. The leadership is a disgrace, large elements of the media is clearly in their pocket, more often than not they disappoint, they have an ugly social media presence in terms of the grifters and sell outs. Why give money to shit like that?

And first person games, can't stand the perspective, get motion sickness and much prefer to see the character on screen.

I don't think I've ever stopped playing a game for moral reasons, but I do tend to change how I play.

In Monster Hunter for example I prefer capturing the monsters if I can since I feel a bit of pity for the beautiful beasts. At least the ones that didn't attack first. I kind of love those aggro motherfuckers because it feels like a proper fight!

In Elden Ring I can't bring myself to get the bloody wolf set because it feels wrong… which sucks so much ass because that gear is fucking RAD!

moral
I forget what psp game it was but you had to basically sign a contract with a demon or
something before it would let you start the game

turned that shit right the fuck off that just rubbed me the wrong way

but turning into a devil in Tekken 2 and kicking ass is fine with me I guess? lol :messenger_grinning_sweat:

uncomfortable...

me and my late little sister would play SF2 Turbo Hyper Fighting
on SNES together for hours and hours I collect a lot retro game stuff
haven't played SF2 since or had anything to do with the SNES hardware...I just can't

In nearly all cases I am willing to see video games as fiction and not get too bothered over content that doesn't morally align with my faith as a Christian, but SMT Apocalypse having
a boss fight where you literally fight Yahweh
is a bridge too far for me to consider playing it. Xenosaga III isn't quite that extreme, but it was pushing it.

Same.

I also avoid "woke" games because it makes me "uncomfortable" when my art gets too blatantly preachy. Good art uses a soft touch and lets you figure things out for yourself. The current generation of "woke" art is preposterous and preachy. Historically, this was only the case every so often, but in modern times, it's out of control.

Yeah, I'm not super devout or anything but games with overtly occult themes and imagery I'm just not comfortable playing at all (Doom, Cult of the Lamb, most SMT, etc)

Spiderman, but only because the second game felt so intensely cringy I can't help myself but just assume the whole thing doesn't exist

Absolutely can't stand most of the game that has satanic baby inc. worked on. Makes me really uncomfortable playing those games.

Hatred is actually a lot of fun and has some amazing mods. I wasn't offended by it but turning the cinematics off and protagonist off would make the game just like Postal 1. Unless brutal executions offend, there's not much to the ultra violence outside of the protagonist. He says some really horrible stuff.

Hatred is the closest I think, never going to play it because looks like trash but making a power fantasy about a mass shooter is super wrong

Never understood the refuse to play a game because of religion tho

No and if anyone think I won't play any game for moral reasons I dare them to send me steam or PSN EU key
