I don't really see Avowed mentioned on any GOTY lists so far. I know it came out early in the year but I thought it was a very solid, polished, fun, western RPG and one of my top picks for GOTY. Probably 2nd behind Expedition 33.

Are people just forgetting about it since it came out so long ago? Or is it because it's only on Xbox and PC?

I finished it on PC Gamepass.
I thought the story, characters, world, gameplay was all fine.

I do wish Obsidian would get some weather into their games. The worlds they have been making lately (for ever?) have all been very static and unmoving.
It's a game. If you have nothing better to do, or have gamepass I would at least check it out for a few hours.

Doesn't matter, man, if it's your GOTY, then that's the GOTY. Back in the day I used to think Oblivion on 360 was boring and mid, then I randomly heard my buddy's dad put like a thousand hours into it, guy was having the time of his life lol, if it rocks your socks off, then good for you.

I first downloaded Oblivion Remastered played it, then i tried avowed then deleted Oblivion because i found avowed way more fun! I play it with UEVR

I remember thinking Avowed was more engaging than Oblivion and going back to Avowed during that time.
The movement in Avowed is actually fun. run jump climb sort of stuff. I also got good at switching between mele and spell casting.

I liked the traversal/speed the most - I had all the gear to make myself mantle really fast and run really fast so I sort of turned it into Dying Light meets Doom twitch shooter as i mainlined guns and daggers - had a fun time! Really nice looking areas, too!

There's a handful of trustworthy people here that liked it a bunch. It didn't set the world on fire, but who cares. I'll definitely be checking it whenever it comes to PS5. I've got more interest in Avowed than lets say, Outer Worlds 2.

Loved it. A good 8/10. Not GOTY material but again a vast majority of year release aren't.

Even the final patch by year's end I might do a new game+, I was waiting on the patch to keep the items I found for a rerun and make a different build. The combat in this game is really good.

Played until half of the last map but got bored and bailed out, still 30+ hours of decent fun.

The game really only has some decent traversal\parkour/exploration and some decent combat going on for it tho.

Story is your super average evil entity infecting the world but with pillars of my ass nomenclature that make everything confusing if you don't know the world already.

Companions are whatever but the game trolls you because the worst one by far has the most useful exploration skill so you have to keep him with you even if he is just rude cunt that is never happy with anything.

Even the best thing, the combat, really goes down to having fun ragdoll so it's visually fun to bash enemies around, everything else from varied moveset to skill tree to enemy variety and quality is mediocre to downright subpar.

Graphic was ok, some good locations but super meh characters models for the most part.

In a real score scale i would give it a 6\10, decent enough.

Gotcha....think this is one of the situations where my woke tolerance is just a bit higher than others. I do rememer now that what you are talking about was pointed out early on around the game's release, but just didn't register with me while I was playing.

I thought the game was really good. Gameplay was a lot of fun, but what brought it down some was the story, especially in the beginning. I hated the inner dialog moments between your character and the "god".

I did finally get into the story in the last third of the game. I think if the story was better from the beginning, you would hear more praise for the game.

Even with the story issues, it was still one of the better games I have played this year.

And went into a fight with Elon over pronouns in a game, an option that you can even put a toggle to never be asked, along so many other games out there in RPG genre that has that option, but again, even Asmongold got into a fight with that clown.

If I drag a fight on twitter while representing a company I get fired. By the same logic, stop buying every microsoft games, they're ultimately responsible for hiring and keeping these peoples on payroll after starting shit on twitter.

I agree. I unsuscribed from GP and the only game I've gotten from MS is Indiana Jones because I got it as a gift.

I don't blame the rest of the dev team. I pity them, because imagine working for years on something only to get it dragged through the mud by some bald retard that hasn't stepped into the woods in his whole damn life but loves to pretend otherwise. Sad.

I agree that things have gotten a bit out of hand. The pendulum might be swinging back with a bit too much force, so to speak. People claming KCD2 is woke took me by surprise. I mean, it has it's woke things, but they are so small compared to the stuff you see in ,for example, Dragon Age Veilguard, that I can't comprehend how some people are able to put both games in the same sack.
