Anyone wish Harry Potter wasn't british?

It's too bad Steven Spielberg didn't make his shitty Harry Potter movie, which would have been CG animated, combine the plots of the first three books instead of adapting the entire series, relocate the series in America, and Haley Joel Osmont as the voice of Harry.

If Harry Potter was set in America, he'd be from Jersey and he would have to take the hidden, magical LIRR from Penn Station to go to Hogwarts on Long Island.

Diagon Alley would be accessed via East Village.

Growing up, I loved harry potter well the first 3 movies. Young me had a hard time following the movies because I had a hard time understanding British accent. None the less, i still became interested in the series and really liked it but que the 4th? movie ..where the british really started to bother me. As the actors aged, their British became more apparent/ more confusing to me D: ..maybe their acting got worse or something <.> but I digress, the jokes, dialogs became more and more unfunny and confusing all because the actors started using heavy british accents and such. thats when I started falling out with the movies all together. =/

maybe if Harry potter was american, i would of liked it/understood it

( btw I do love british shows like game of thrones, etc )

I blame the acting

Yeah those English can't even speak . . . Uh . . . English.

Only English show so far that I had to turn subtitles on for was "Luther". Had a hard time understanding it for some reason.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
OP, can't you just wait for the remake in 20 years or so?

Produced by Michael Bay, director of Transformers 14
20? I don't think they wait that long these days, I'd expect them to reboot in less than 10.

Yeah the language killed it. Its ridiculous that any movie using the english language isn't set in America, where you can understand what is being said. :/

There'd be no magical spells that heal injuries, too much communism, not enough FREEDOM.

I don't much like Harry Potter but...I'm pretty sure it would fundementally change the story in ways the normal fans wouldn't like and probably make it really terrible and bland.

Remember that disaster that was based on The Dark is Rising...

Think of us non native speakers who find (some) British accents easier to understand, though!

I've never seen a HP film.

Won't lie, I had to turn the subtitles on the first time I saw Trainspotting. But now I'm pretty good with Scottish accents.

Hey, for people who know, do northern English accents sound Scottish the further you go, or is it more separate a sound than that?

I always wondered if there was an American wizard school similar to Hogwarts or is this just contained to the British Isles. It's curious to ponder.

People think GoT isn't a British show? I bet they're the same people who think The Office isn't American.

wiki said:
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin's series of fantasy novels, the first of which is titled A Game of Thrones.

George RR Martin is from New Jersey

edit: oh nvm you weren't being serious. Another good comparison would be Grand Theft Auto. Its a game with an American setting and American cast, but created by Brits. GoT is created by an American, but with a British cast and setting
