There's this one, but it's a bit pricey:Zabka said:Are there any more traditional third party covers that take advantage of the magnets? I picked up an ipad 2 for my father and knowing him the official cover isn't going to be enough.
I'm exactly on the same boat =(Twilight Princess said:can we chill the fuck out and talk about magnets instead?

Ulairi said:I'm not saying iOS doesn't have good games. I'm talking about the totality of experiences on the DS/PSP are deeper and different than iOS. A lot of you sound like Wii gamers using The Conduit to show that it can match the other platforms. You'll find gems on every platform, but would you seriously suggest an iOS device for someone who likes to play games like Dragon Quest, Mario, God of War, etc etc?
iOS excels at games that use the device and do not try to mimic other platforms. The board game adaptions are fantastic. Adventure games are a lot more fun with touch controls than buttons, to me. The experiences are different. I was replying to Whitta with snark.

I've been buying handhelds since the original Game Boy, I own a PSP and DS but I doubt I will ever buy another one. I don't like carrying multiple devices and there are more than enough of the kinds of games I love on iOS to keep me happy from now on.mrkgoo said:I haven't played console games in years, and even hand helds have fallen off the radar for me. iOS is my primary gaming platform now and has been for the pas couple years. Mostly it's about time and want. And I still have loads of games I haven't started. On the single platform alone I have a huge backlogue.
LyleLanley said:I wouldn't suggest any iOS device for someone who only wants to play games as you can get a much cheaper device if all you want to do is play games, but there are many good games that fit the molds of those game you mentioned.
For JRPGS I would recommend to someone check out Chaos Rings, it's a great iOS only game. For Mario there are tons of great platformers, and for God of War there are, again, a ton of clones of it that are very good.
Anyways, I think the point I'm trying to make is that if someone decides to play games on iOS it's not just lol, waggle or lol, swipe anymore, the games are only getting better and companies will, if they aren't already, be developing on iOS as their primary platform sooner than later.
Edit:
That's an awesome case, I wonder if I can get a plain cover though.
Ulairi said:Yup. You can get it plain. I already pre-ordered one. I have a Grove case for my iPhone and lurve it so much.
I don't like it when people demean the handhelds. There isn't the need to. Both offer content and there is enough diversity in the content offer between the platforms and within the platforms. I would love for the iOS to offer me better and more content because I really don't like having to carry in my bag my Nintendo DS, iPhone, and now the iPad. If I could have have everything regulated to the iPhone and iPad, I'd love it.
Speaking of which, one thing I absolutely hate about iOS are developers like EA that want me to pay twice for the same flippin' app! I want to play Risk on the iPad? I have to rebuy it to get the HD version when I already bought it on the iPhone. Drives me nuts that I had to do the same with Angry Birds. I'm more willing to buy more of your games if you're not trying to gouge me of every penny you can. Release your app to be compatible with both the iPhone and iPad. I think I am only going to start supporting developers who do that.

That's a long fucking way away.
Charred Greyface said:Don't get the black leather smart cover, unless you never intend to remove it from your iPad. Get a cover with easily recognized front and back sides.
LyleLanley said:Even then, I don't think 3d makes sense for an iOS device.
I think Charred's talking about how the front and back of the black Smart Cover are essentially identical in color. The microfiber cloth on the interior is black.X-Frame said:What? Front and back of the smart cover confuses you?
That's true of all the leather covers, same color front and back.kryptikjoker said:I think Charred's talking about how the front and back of the black Smart Cover are essentially identical in color. The microfiber cloth on the interior is black.
For next time, Apple Store will exchange your Best Buy defective purchases for non-defective products. It's part of AppleCare.NeoForte said:So I got back form the apple store in Aventura Mall and they are sold out of iPad 2. I returned mine to Best Buy cause the light leaks on it were just too much and I guessed it was better if I purchased the next one at an Apple Store. Oh well least I got a red leather smart case to keep me company ; ;
The weird thing is, it says iPad 2 on Apple's front page but everywhere else - on the Apple store site, on the box, on the device itself - it's just iPad.Rez said:oh, and when I predicted it would be called the iPad 2, and a few guys told me there would be no 2 in the title:

Much like the iPhone 4 on-case branding. It's a little odd.Gary Whitta said:The weird thing is, it says iPad 2 on Apple's front page but everywhere else - on the Apple store site, on the box, on the device itself - it's just iPad.

Maybe they'll keep the iPad 2 at $399 and have the iPad 3 at other prices. At that point you will need number differentiators.LCfiner said:Ha ha, OK. I'll give you that one.I thought it was gonna be iPod-like branding where there are no numbers used from year to year. but it does seem like they're tossing that number around almost everywhere.
let's see if they keep numbers for next year and do something else. (not taking any bets, tho)

sonycowboy said:The same thing happened with the iPhone 4. The speculation is that the glue/epoxy hasn't finished drying, but once it does it'll be perfect. A "hot off the presses" kind of thing.
btrboyev said:Yes the iPad 2 is faster and thinner, but overall I'm having a large case of buyers remorse. I love the thing, but I easily could have been happy with my first gen for another year...I don't think apple did enough. Zero wow factor for me. I'll get over it soon enough I suppose.
Tobor, so what exactly is causing the difference? iPhone on light areas, iPad on dark ones .. Do you know?Tobor said:Definitely not. Mine is perfect. Sucks for the people with the issue, but you can get it replaced once they have stock.
This is different. That was a yellowish tint on white screens, this is light leakage on dark screens.
Jasoco said:Are there any free or cheap VNC clients for iPad that let you actually drag the mouse? All the ones I see for free move the viewport when you drag your finger. Even if I zoom out. I can't drag at all on the computer. The nicest I saw was Connect My Mac by Hana Mobile as well as the craptastic Mocha VNC. I want something that will zoom the screen all out then let me use the finger exactly like a mouse.
Also, what does the full Friendly have that the free one doesn't?
