It wasn't just keyboard clicks, it would do it even when i was just scrolling in Safari.

I don't have that. It must be a setting somewhere.

Maps sucks more.

No way. It's simple and easy to use. The only issue is everything is too big but that's an ios10 issue.

The most important thing though is that you can scroll around the map while in navigation mode. that's game changing. It was the only reason I used Google maps.

I also like that the widget automatically saves your car location for easy use

I like Maps a lot. I just wish searching while routing was expanded. It gives you options for Gas, Restaurants, and Coffee, but no fast food? I submitted feedback about that

You're right. I would prefer if we could do a full on search while being routed and add a stop.

Does nobody else have a problem with how big everything is? I mean goddamn these icons and font are HUGE. Looking at the maps app and the "route details" is crazy big. It just feels like it's zoomed in. Music is like this too

Yes way.

Unless mine simply isn't working, there isn't even an option to get directions to or from a location when switching to Maps from Yelp or Safari.

Explain this.

Like I'm 5, please.

If your phone is connected to a car stereo head either by lighting cable (to CarPlay) or by Bluetooth, when it disconnects it'll automatically mark the location of your parked car. I had the chance to use it yesterday and it is RAD

Thank you kindly. Nice solution indeed. Wonder how well it's work in a big multi story parking lot with no/poor reception.

I'd imagine that's worst case scenario for a system like that.

That's how it knew. Thought it was magic.

Glad I'm not the only one.

Oh heck yes. I already like that it automatically tells me the traffic situation when I start the car.

Anyone know how to install macOS Sierra on an external drive?

I've tried multiple times to install but after my computer restarts it stays on a grey screen for moment but it never boots from the external drive to continue the installation.

I've even tried to hold the option key during startup but the external drive doesn't even show up as a choice.

I could partition my drive to install Sierra on it but I'd rather try this route first.

Someone clefairy what exactly this means. Does it not work completely and break the game or is it just broken but you can still play but it's not as cool?

First of all, nice pun. Second, for me, the game still works but you can't use the AR mode. It'll switch to the camera but no Pokémon is there. You can only use the rendered backgrounds

Oh is that it? Come on, that's clearly just a bug or a missing feature. The way you worded it I thought the actual design of it was bad.

Oh it's by Bluetooth? I assumed it's cause its smart enough to know that I was in a car and now I'm not. Is the lightning cable/bluetooth aspect of it confirmed?

Thanks. I'm waiting off on iOS 10 for now. At least FaceBook was fixed. Maybe this can too. I'll wait for Beta 2 at least.

However I am going to bite the bullet on Sierra. It seems the only app I have that doesn't work for sure is CCC, and they're working on it. So for now I'm making temporary Time Machine backups not that I ever need them. But at least I'll have them if I do. CrashPlan still works fine so I don't NEED CCC since I don't change too many files every day so it would be trivial to get back if I need to. So I'm gonna jump into Sierra. Seems stable enough on my iMac. Just a few glitches.

Really looking forward to jumping into iOS 10 too. Soon.

Yes, the OS and car talk to each other. Even if you just have Ford Sync and not CarPlay. (Damn I wish I had CarPlay. Sadly I'm stuck on Sync 1 and not the superior Sync 3 that just got CarPlay compatibility recently.) So it is smart enough to know you were in your car. As long as your car and phone are on speaking terms.

iOS 10 seems worth it for me. The AR missing in Pokemon isn't a big deal, especially since it actually makes catching Pokemon easier for you

Well the car map thing works on my phone and I use Bluetooth adapter to my stereo. So seems like your car doesn't need to have Bluetooth functionality

I was driving my girlfriend'a dad's car yesterday and he has a car with a Bluetooth stereo, and it worked then. It does not work on my older car where I have to aux-cable it in to get sound. Might be a glitch, but I was under the impression it needs a Bluetooth connection or CarPlay

You should get something like this. It's awesome and what I use. The car park seems to works for me with it

SoundBot SB360 Bluetooth 4.0 Car Kit Hands-Free Wireless Talking & Music Streaming Dongle w/ 10W Dual Port 2.1A USB Charger + Magnetic Mounts + Built-in 3.5mm Aux Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RH29CJO/?tag=neogaf0e-20

This is perfect for lasting me until I get a cheap CarPlay stereo head, thanks!

Glad I could help!

I've only spent like 10 minutes with it and caught 5 Pokémon, but how does it make it easier?

I've found that the Pokemon in AR mode jump around the environment and move a lot. When you turn off AR they don't do anything except maybe jump once in a while. It's not a huge difference, just something I encountered. It may have just been a coincidence too

I'm really turned off by the new News app. Not by the options, but they TOTALLY changed how everything is displayed. I much prefered the old style of everything in order by time based on your favorite subjects, instead of this new style where everything is organized under a header and you scroll through the subjects

You know what I'd like, a Wallet widget. Is there a third party one maybe? I have wallet cards that aren't time/location sensitive that would be nice to have quick access to which don't appear on the lock screen like tickets or boarding passes.

PIP is so nice. I just really hope by release, YouTube and Apple have figured out a good way to put a scrub bar in. You lose a bunch of YouTube features in vanilla HTML5 PIP mode. No post-video grid of suggestions, no scrub bar, no title when you mouse over. Just a pause button, an exit button, and a button that does both at once. YouTube is big enough I'd expect this stuff in time. If not by release. Depends on the API for PIP and if devs can take advantage of it or if it's stupidly limited to just Safari/HTML5 videos.

Edit: And like that, Carbon Copy Cloner has been updated! Guess I don't need that Time Machine backup I created last night on the iMac.

Edit 2: I decided to give Documents and Desktop syncing a go so I upgraded to the 50GB iCloud tier and turned it on. Some observations:

  • As expected, it is taking a while to upload because I have a nice chunk of files. 20GB right now. But it's going. Slowly.
  • The fans on my MacBook are working pretty hard just to upload the files. Hopefully that's fixed and that it's just because of the initial backup.
  • When this option is on, the Documents and Desktop folders disappear from your User folder view. But they still currently appear in my Dock, but I suspect they will disappear there too when I restart it. I don't like that. I hope it's a bug. How would you get to Documents?
  • Not sure if it's related but I can't delete anything from anywhere right now. I keep getting error -43.
  • The "Size" column in the Finder has a limit to its width, but its max width isn't wide enough to fit both the current size and the Upload/Download arrow. So I get a lot of truncated amounts while files are uploading. Like "1...MB".
  • On my iMac, the Finder is being a pain in the ass. Slowdowns and beachballs if I try to do anything. I want to blame the HDD since my MacBook has SSD. But I could be wrong.

The side bar has a separate iCloud section with iCloud Drive, Desktop and Documents on it.

I've noticed that songs in music that have "remember playback location" do not in fact resume where you left off. I put recordings of the stern show on my phone-3 hour shows-so I need that feature.

I hate the Sidebar ever since it fucked up the Finder forever. Single-window mode needs to stop butting in. I only want to see it when I request it. Otherwise I want all my folders meticulously positioned and resized with no sidebar or toolbar.

I just put it in my Dock. But it should NOT disappear from the User folder. That's just bad design. Desktop too.

My Documents are still syncing. I wish it had a total progress and remaining time estimation. If you put your Library in the Dock it shows a progress bar since it has one for the Mobile Documents folder. Shame it doesn't do a progress bar for the Documents folder itself. Either way, an estimation of remaining time would be nice. It's only 20GB. I'm thinking there would be an icon that appears in the menubar when files are syncing then disappears. Like the Location icon.

Edit: Oh my god, the Finder is so fucking buggy. It's all fucked up. Bah! I don't even know how to explain the problem now. Hopefully the upload is continuing in the background, but I can't even open Documents anymore because the Finder gets stuck in a loop and shows no files and won't let me close the window then crashes every time over and over and I have to force quit it.

Also, iCloud Tabs stopped working for me. I can't find them anymore.

Do you use Apple Music or is this just uploaded manually using your computer?

Anybody else missing a Volume Meter indicator when changing the volume using the buttons while music or a video is playing?

Also, if you are listening to a song in Apple music, and then rotate your phone to landscape, does your screen change to a black video?

Yes to both. YouTube is missing it everytime. Pretty buggy so far 😞

Yeah I've had that vanish as well, but you can turn it back on so to speak by toggling the Silent mode switch on the side of your phone.

As long as these aren't design changes, and merely bugs I'm ok with it. If they decide to take it out for some god forsaken reason I will be upset lol.

Do you have Apple Pay set up? You could just do the double tap of the home button (from the lock screen) with your finger on the TouchID sensor (assuming your phone has one) and it will quickly open up your default card in Wallet. Then just tap the stack of cards at the bottom and all of your others are there for you to select. I've been doing that to quickly open up the wallet and use other cards.

I thought the tap to replace with emoji is a new system-wise feature.
Apparently, it is for iMessage only :/

I would like to use it in other apps. The current emoji keyboard is a mess

I have been noticing it will recommend emoji if you type a related word with the stock keyboard. Don't think that was in iOS 9 and it's worked pretty smoothly the couple times I wanted it.

I love the size increase for all of the UI elements. <3

Are you 80? I'm not sure how one could enjoy the size increase in some of these apps. Apple Music is maybe the worst offender. I can only see like 2-3 songs at a time on some menus. It's like a UI for kids.

Gboard does it across everything if you want to try out a third party keyboard. Works pretty well

Apple Pay doesn't exist in my territory yet.

Now that things have settled for a couple of weeks, iOS 10 honestly seems like a pretty small upgrade.

iMessage, I don't care about.
The Photos enhancements are restoring iPhoto features they had taken away.
The Music changes seem to be out of the frying pan and into the dumpster fire.
Don't care about the News stuff.

Honestly, the more 3D Touch-centric UI and notifications are the only really exciting things to me. And SiriKit, I guess, but even then, until they open SiriKit up more, it's so limited in application at this point that I probably won't use it at all.

I'm really hoping iOS 10.1, etc. includes some major features (like more SiriKit APIs) to make up for 10 being sort of small to the EUX. I also wonder if this is the smaller update before they do a major update with the overhauled 2017 iPhone.
