I believe the camera uses depth rather than color to determine facial structure, so the color of your skin should not be a non-factor. This is just based on my understanding of the keybote info though, so take it for what it is.

I don't think people have actually realised yet that Face ID is literally Kinect technology.

In fairness, they've moved to HEVC for much more efficient video encoding so filesizes are similar to 1080p.
