No. People will use lamps regardless of WWE's rating. It could be fucking porn and people will still find the cheapest route.

Even still, look at UFC's numbers. Quality + marketing to the right audience still gets great PPV buy rates. The problem is marketing to a PG audience and expecting them to pay $65 for HD PPV's.

Well back when SummerSlam was 19.99 was also nice too. Man It's nuts how WM is now $54.99! I tend to think that if the prices were lower they would get a lot more casuals, but I'm not sure if the larger buyrate would make up the money lost to a lower cost.

Then again TNA shows that cheap doesn't equal good buyrates lol
The price doesn't matter. Interest in the product does. $54.99 split between 5 people is cheap. $54.99 paid by just one person because you can't find anyone else that gives a shit is bad.

TV-14 is not auto better quality. Wrestling was still bad before PG came in. People tuned away in droved before PG came in. Thre worst wrestling even did was probably when TV-14 was still around. Katie Vick says hi
Mae Young giving birth to a hand says hi.

Heidenreich raping Michael Cole also says hi.

I've watched and paid for every WWE PPV since at least 2003.

All this lamp talk makes me sad when I think about their declining PPV buy rates. Why not just buy it on WWE.com? Isn't it cheaper there?

someone posted an article about it earlier, but in the past WWE and PPV still had to deal with piracy in the form of black boxes (which, in all honesty, were probably more potentially damaging to revenue than online streaming is now) and still pulled in numbers. It's the quality and ceiling that going "PG" gives that is affecting buyrates more than streams.

If the WWE wasnt in the toilet right know I'll be buying WM at the regular price. Hell, most people I know quit watching WWE altogether!.

I think the last great Wrestlemania was 24(I was there at the citrus bawl) which was the last WM until the PG virus plagued WWE. Go figure.

Why is that you can be banned from GAF for admitting to downloading things, but begging for illegal streams of PPV events is ok?

I think Mysterio comes out dressed as the KMART blue light.

Yeah, I remember the dreaded black box. I had a friend who had one. We watched the late 90s ppvs using it.

And when I stayed at my aunt's house, they had it too.

Piracy has been around since forever. Satellite cable had to worry about "cards."

It's true, if the product is compelling, then the people are going to care about committing money to watching it.

WWE's product isn't as good plus it has keen competition in pro sports, UFC, etc.

Miz vs Cena - 5 points
Edge vs Del Rio - 5 points
Undertaker vs HHH - 5 points
Cole vs Lawler - 4 points
CM Punk vs Orton - 4 points
Rhodes vs Mysterio - 4 points
Sheamus vs Bryan - 3 points
Snooki's team vs LayCool - 3 points
Babyfaces vs Corre - 3 points

Rey will dress as Super Rey; Guardian of the Glass Ceiling.

Miz vs Cena will be on last and it will last 35 minutes with entrances and post match chicanery.

Bodogs taker odds are down to -900 from -1400, you guys could do that to off set the PPV cost.

They changed the max bet to 225, it used to be 325, it still only pays $25 at max bet.

It was more socially acceptable to watch pro wrestling back then. These days, only kids and lonely ponyfuckers watch it.

I don't understand the Undertaker line move. The only way the line moves from -1400 to -900 is if a ton of money comes in on HHH....oh god it's time to play the game isn't it.

at Hulk Hogan's peak in the 80s wrestling was everywhere. Hogan was on the cover of Sports Illustrated for crying out loud, you had WWF on primetime with Saturday Night's Main Event on NBC. It was really more of a fad for mainstream people back then.

You could say the same thing in the late 90's.

All wrestling needs is something to bring it to the forefront. Otherwise, it's gonna be like this for a while since WWE's business plan, while conservative is still consistent.

But that was when ADULTS were captivated by the magic of wrestling. That crap doesn't fly anymore. Then it blew up in 96-2001 due to the "realness" of the Attitude Era that managed to pull adult viewers back in, and we had another boom.

Now wrestling is in a valley again, and the UFC has eaten into that adult audience that used to roll with wrestling, and the PG crowd just doesn't have the income to purchase weak PPV after weak PPV.

fixed

Others males would rather watch UFC, pro sports or something else, especially without captivating stars/programming (Attitude era had Stone Cold/Rock plus a smattering of pretty decent in ring performers or promos).

edit: Netwrecker hit on the head.

Yep a big issue is the fact in all the company Cena is the only guy who has the 80s style super popularity. Other guys get cheered on the basis they arent Cena but the reality is Cena is practically the only guy who really fits the style.

The true decline is directly linked to the pulling away from wrestling and becoming sports entertainment

Honestly, I don't think any of us in EntertainmentGAF actually enjoys watching anymore. I think we just do it out of habit and boredom.

I also think the standard of the wrestling has dropped. Its also less edgy. Back in the day I'd be on the edge of my seat because the competition forced both big promotions to mix things up.

Has WWE even been PG the last bunch of weeks.

I don't understand PG anyway. Chuck is a PG show, yet half clothed women seem to be a part of every episode, as do guns, threats of death, and more.

The likes of Fringe is obviously TV-14, as they throw in quite a few graphics images

WWEs PG is usually very safe, and he few mentions of "ass" are hardly extreme

I like to see if it can get worse, and from week to week, I am never disappointed

half naked beetches are necessary for entertainment value. It turns the diva matches from definite bathroom breaks to semi-watchable.

I still highly enjoy watching WRESTLING, it's the "Entertainment" part of it that craps it up most of the time. All the lights and huge stages in the world won't make your product more entertaining than a ROH show in a small arena and a crowd full of rabid fans.

Or maybe it's the fact the company hasn't developed other stars and instead we have the legion of McIntyre, Dibiase, Kozlov, etc. It doesn't help that most of them cannot really cut a promo or have good in-ring ability or possess ring psychology.

So for kids, they all gravitate to Cena. The program's quality is poor when viewed by an adult, and there aren't that many personalities to draw adults in today, except for the fringe/devoted followers.

Adults are not interested in that junk, they prefer GSP, Brock, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Chuck Lidell, Randy Couture, etc.

Why cant WWE do it on a PG show though, when the likes of Chuck have Sarah/Yvonne and other girls in Bikinis/Bras every now and then. WWE takes PG to strict in some places, and lapses in others.
