I don't understand PG anyway. Chuck is a PG show, yet half clothed women seem to be a part of every episode, as do guns, threats of death, and more.

The likes of Fringe is obviously TV-14, as they throw in quite a few graphics images

WWEs PG is usually very safe, and he few mentions of "ass" are hardly extreme

The PG in the WWE is on the lower end, just bordering on G. Smackdown was PG for a while before this whole initiative took place and the difference between it and RAW in terms of content were negligible.

Hell, Cartoon Network's PG shows have more adult content than WWE right now.

See maybe im alone in this but while wrestling had bigger names in the attitude era it had just as much boring shit going on too. The difference is the stars were big enough to gloss over the shit. Today theres not enough developed stars to cover over the shit

Half the attitude era is rose tinted nostalgia. Its boom in popularity was tied more to prepuberty boys suddenly thinking it was cool to watch cause you could see half naked chicks and see people say naughty words on tv.

The more aggressive style matches got to shine through they way they were supposed to do that I wont deny.

But that was when ADULTS were captivated by the magic of wrestling. That crap doesn't fly anymore. Then it blew up in 96-2001 due to the "realness" of the Attitude Era that managed to pull adult viewers back in, and we had another boom.

Now wrestling is in a valley again, and the UFC has eaten into that adult audience that used to roll with wrestling, and the PG crowd just doesn't have the income to purchase weak PPV after weak PPV.

Nailed it.

What could possibly bring it back in the future, though? Is it as simple as better writing? More interesting characters?

I actually agree with this. WWE's weekly programs didn't really get even decent wrestling wise until 2000.

I agree with antonz. You had cool shit like Austin holding a gun to Vince's head and making him piss his pants but you also had stuff like Naked Mideon.

Number one problem is nothing means anything. Winning doesn't mean anything (and neither does losing), stipulation matches don't mean anything, match ups between two top guys don't mean anything, being the champion doesn't mean anything.
Why are people supposed to care when there is no real consequences or meaning to anything?

It's the writing. There isn't a single match on tonights PPV that has any sort of heat behind it like Wrestlemanias past.

The biggest stories are two announcers fighting and if the guest host is going to fight the # 1 contender.

WWEs decision to make a joke out of the IC/US/Tag titles and absolute refusal to allow Cena and Orton to look weak for even 15 seconds of television means that the card is weak, weak, weak.

Back in the days wrestling shows were all just wrestling. Only time they did any talking was a little promo before a match, Brother Love, The Barbershop.

I love all the new stuff going on but sometimes it takes up too much of the show...

The person who was ejected from the Hall of Fame ceremony for booing Drew Carey during his induction was actually southeastern independent wrestler Dany Only, who most notably competes for NWA Anarchy and NWA Rampage Pro Wrestling in Georgia. Only confirmed on his Twitter this morning that he was the one ejected by security. Several in attendance confirmed he screamed "Vince hates wrestling" and "You're all whores" while he was being taken out.
Ha. He told everyone he was going to do it and actually did it.

In terms of actual wrestling, the WWF was very weak during 1998 and 99. The main event basically held everything up while the midcard was lacking in talent, not to mention all the shit Russo came up with. It was during 2000 where the Radicals came in and the new tag teams rose where the midcard could be filled and make the overall product awesome. Oh and Russo left too.

What it did have all the time though was talent and personality that captivated people to watch. Austin, Rock, the McMahons, DX, Foley, etc. The WWE doesn't have characters 1/10th as interesting anymore.

Bryan Alvarez (who was sitting near the guy) said he got back in after apologising and promising not to boo anymore.

Our best hope is when Vince steps down and finally is done that HHH does much like Vince did when he took over from Dad and changes shit drastically.

HHH has a solid head for wrestling and such and alot of backstage people confirm it. Problem is the company is overseen by a guy who forgot what made the company.

Also, Cena having a new shirt that says "never give up" would suggest he is still staying face for a while.

That is just so that after Rock kicks his ass, the Rock can give him a new shirt that says "gave up"
