You can't salvage the MMO template, they have 20 hours worth of content but it's padded to last 200. Even if you somehow achieve perfect execution, it's ultimately a huge waste of time due to inevitable repetition. They are designed to keep reinforcing casuals positively with a steady flow of smaller rewards, so the successful MMO's lack the right kind of challenge. What I mean by that is sometimes the player can experience difficulties, but it's always in the form of frustration, which is bad design. It's things like crowded quest/exp sites, bad luck from RNG elements or when it boils down to a pure time investment. Yes it's a challenge in itself to remain patient, find motivation and push yourself to reach the goal, but it's not what I'm looking for in a video game.
