Are you ready for the next generation of consoles?

I'm not ready. I have bought a ton of cheap but good games this year that I still haven't had the time to play yet.

I'm not going to buy an overpriced craptacular launch system for a Next-Gen Madden, Halo 2.5 and perhaps a modern Rare game. I might consider buying it if the launch games are AAA, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll most likely buy a Next-Gen system as soon as the price wars begin.

New generations are great. They offer so much promise and potential. But to be honest I think 2006 is just about right for new hardware.

Besides, with later launches we'd have more time for pre-launch hype/speculation/screenshot wars etc. etc. :P ;)

Definitely ready. Console games have been looking 'old' for a while now (especially the PS2).

Part of the problem is that the PC sector finally has all of its pixel shading in full swing. It's made a massive difference as to the quality and look of things and its nothing something you can really do on a console. As a result everything just looks muddied out and low res.

On the development side of things though, things should be in place so that developers can just go ahead and do what they've been doing, just without sacrificing features and it should port just fine to the next gen hardware.

Developing from the Xbox 2 to the Xenon isn't all that much different. PS3 looks like it'll be about the same since Nvidia's helping with the GPU, and that only leaves Nintendo as a wildcard.

Providing everything is backwards compatible, it could stand to be one of the most seamless transitions yet.

Zelda
FF12

After that though, I am ready for next-gen!

That and the FF VII side story with Vincent. We have similar tastes, it appears.
