I just watched the pilot for this last night and was quite impressed. I can't wait to watch more of this. Did not expect the Nolan realism vibe in a Green Arrow show.

I wouldn't mind it if they left the door open for powers from the outset, but they gave us their take on Count Vertigo.

Maybe Barry Allen is just a Olympic-class sprinter. :p

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It breaks the pseudo-grounded world that's been created. I don't want superpowers in Arrow. It's about people who turn themselves into these lunatic villains and vigilantes. Godlike powers have no place among the madness.

Plus, what, Barry is gonna help Ollie develop into a superhero? Here's the problem, the second you introduce superpowers in this grounded universe, Ollie can't match up. It's one of the reasons why I like the Nolanverse so much: No superpowers that break my suspension of disbelief. Logically, supervillains like Zod, would kill Batman in a heartbeat. I don't want heroes that are so overpowered as to render the protagonist, Oliver, completely impotent. It's annoying.

I consider rocking a 3 day stubble 24/7 a godlike superpower. One I am looking to master. The ability to surround yourself with nothing but stunningly beautiful women, including mom, sis and the inevitable computernerd, is another one.

We'll see how they try and do it. If they can pull it off, they should seriously start considering the Amazon pilot and pull them all into the Justice League universe. Get Batman and Superman via the movies, and the rest via television.

No way Batman and co. would ever appear on Arrow, much to the disappointment of the showrunners.

I'd rather the Arrowverse remain separate.

Splitting up the universe between TV and Movies does seem like a safe way of going about things. It allows for the lesser known characters to get far more attention, build up a fan base and likely will be more cost effective and less risky. Hell Marvel is doing this already with Agents of Shield. That's suppose to tie into the movie universe I believe. Why not do this and strike while the fire is hot.

Arrow already has a similar tone to Man of Steel. It's a solid show why not take advantage and then use the same actor in the Justice League film as Green Arrow. No reason he couldn't be a founding member of the Justice League. It doesn't have to be the same founders in the comics. All they have to do is go back on the "no powers rule". Have some with Flash but still try to keep things grounded due to their budget.

I don't think Arrow would be hurt to much by being included in a universe with superpowers, as long as the majority of villains or cameo heroes weren't superpowered.

I don't expect Batman to appear in Arrow, I expect Arrow to appear in the Justice League movie so they don't need to do Flash/Green Arrow movies to set them up. If they're really casting that Teen Wolf guy for Batman, the casts between the movie and the TV shows would really line up.

I called it

"At The CW's Television Critics Association summer press day, CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed the truth about our mystery woman -- the new Black Canary is
Laurel's sister, Sara, who was believed dead in the "Arrow" pilot after the shipwreck of the Queen's Gambit."

So they replaced the S1 actress...? Weird

Damn it, why did I highlight. :(

Well, if that's the case
and Caity Lotz replaces the original actress, Oliver chose right to ditch Laurel. :p

So I really want to catch up on this show so I can start the new season and watch with everyone, but...

It's on Netflix now! DVD only, I just have streaming.

It's on Hulu! But only the last six episodes.

It's on the CW website! But only the last six episodes.

FML. CW, do you not want more viewers?! Grr.

BWHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Good news everyone, tho:
This unexpected and fresh development gives Awesome Black Canary 1.0 some REALLY significant plot armor.
The dream lives.

I certainly hope so.

Man... honestly, the Arrow writers are just gonna stab us in the heart. With an arrow. I just know it.

So, anyway is Strike Back any good?

Yeah, it's damn good. I won't tell you what I think of the first season because apparently it's heresy around these parts, but once the American character gets on the show it's awesome.

I feel like Strike Back, Banshee, and Arrow are the only good action shows on right now.

alright off to watch season 1 :)

The British one or Cinemax's? Keep in mind that Strike Back began as a UK show that somehow diverted into what it is right now. The original show serves as a prequel of sorts for Cinemax's Strike Back, which is less Tom Clancy and more Lethal Weapon with high powered guns and exotic locations.

Stay away from the official threads until you catch up. Spoilers abound.

Just watch strike back from the start. The first season is cool. Thorin is a boss. There's plenty of action.

And then the next season has an amazing die hard thing going on to open the season

That, banshee and arrow are my action fix. Though I think these lame comic book shenanigans will soon ruin arrow
