I think it’s fair to complain about this since it came post purchase. I hate companies sneaking shit in post launch that introduces additional DRM (Capcom can go to hell with their shit), launcher requirements (fuck you Rockstar), and even this fairly minor crap that can lead to more once Sony gets their own god damn launcher.
It didn't, it was there at launch.

I think this whole thing is a bit overblown, but I get that argument as well. Don't think it warrants all this review bombing.

Yeah, but there are folks who bought it post-launch. I'm guessing those are the ones griping (mostly anyway). If they didn't see the notice then I guess I can understand being annoyed, but not to this extent.

I think it’s more exasperation with the usual corporate bullshit. Capcom recently put DRM into old games as an example. Corpos pull this all the time.

This game garnered pretty good “feels” with its fair price and MTX policies and then they go back to Corpo bullshit.

Yeah, it’s a minor thing, but it’s kind of becoming a straw that broke a camel’s back and all that jazz.

Yeah it's very annoying. Happened to me with Halo MCC, had to look up my account password, no way I'd remember that shit :messenger_weary:

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
We all know this is Phil Spencer’s fault somehow.
If MS didn't let Gabe leave, there wouldn't be a Valve, no Valve means no Steam and people won't leave bad reviews for Helldiver's 2.

People not reading anymore? It was there in the front page.

Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: nProtect GameGuard
Requires 3rd-Party Account: PlayStation Network (Supports Linking to Steam Account)
Requires agreement to a 3rd-party EULA

Good point. Folks are getting tired of all this nonsense. Can't say I blame them.

That's fine, but if someone bought the game not seeing the notice and has been playing for weeks and then is suddenly forced to login then I can see why they would be upset. Like I said, it ain't worth all this, but it is an annoyance for some.

Well, usually people don't enjoy being fucked in the ass without having asked, so it's only natural that people are complaining about this.

You say stuff like "bruh it's just an account", not caring at all, and you end up paying extra for playing online.

Only, If you not paying attention before you buy the game.

Have Bethesda, Activision, MS, Ubisoft, or EA started charging for playing online when they all require account registration for their games? What makes you think it's different and this publisher account will lead to that?

Ah let me log into Helldivers 2 for a quick game... oh I need to sign in.

Ah, but wait some PlayStation owners on NeoGAF who consistantly get upset when ever consumers DARE to say something negative towards a corporation, said I just need to make a fake account in anouther region, let's go do that.

Ah... OK yeah, that seems normal Sony...

Crybabies. How can you buy and support a game you like playing, but allow a free account requirement stop you from enjoying it? What principle is there to stand for when you already use a platform (PC or andriod) that is open to trojan viruses, malware, hacks AND already mines your data? The mental gymnastics of PC gamers trying to justify their platform tribalism of Steam is crazy when they turn around and say exclusives are bad for the industry....

Maybe in some countries because here, you don't have to do these things. You must be living in the UK aren't you?

Charging for the PS+ service sure, but how has any publisher I listed ( who have had this steam third party account requirement for far longer) used it to start charging for playing online on steam? Makes absolutely no sense. You wouldn't even legally be allowed to.

I didn't even know Facial Scan and ID was a requirement.

Definitely not going to subscribe to PSN, like, forever.

Sony wants your data. There is literally no technical reason for Sony to make PSN login mandatory. It's just plain stupid and taking advantage of people.
I wonder how many people using this 'data' excuse have several other applications they are signed up to and don't think twice about what they are sharing.

The hell? Are those regional requirements or does everyone have to do that?

Yeah, come to think of it, maybe they’re just good old fanboys doing what warriors doWe all know how Steam fans can act, they’re no better than their console brethren!

That's the third time today I've seen that exact list posted.

To me this is another stupid move by Sony. If it were my rollout plan, I'd have made the PSN account optional and then offer value for signing in to it, like cross-platform progression, trophies, etc. Hell even something semi-shitty like offering exclusive level up packs or bonus currency/weapon skins or whatever to people signed in with PSN accounts. Make it an option then give benefits to players for doing it.

Dunno how they expected this to go when they suddenly decide to enforce it and then offer no benefits for doing so.

I don't play Helldivers so apologies if they already offer these things.

UK and Ireland surprise trial, pretty funny if it wasn't so sad.

Also look what they literally just updated 30 mins ago after someone pointed out Sonys own linking FAQ that Helldivers was directing players too was telling players they didn't need to to link and it was optional.

96ShF9O.jpeg

So now we have a case of Sony trying to change there own FAQ the game was set up with after it's been sold... oops.

Some mad lad also went through the Helldivers 2 EULA to see if it mentioned needing a PSN account there lol
