Being a fan of the older movies, I loved it!
Hope Raimi is directing the whole series.

Evil Dead 2 is by far my fave of the trilogy. :p

He's only directing the first episode. He said he'd probably do 1 ep per season.

Oh... Hmmm...
Hope whoever directs the other ones can capture his style.

That spinning flashlight scene in the pilot was really playful in its approach.

He said he'd do more episodes in seasons 2 (if there is a season 2), not just one per season. That was before the second season was confirmed.

Lots of clips now popping up from the opening moments of the next episode. While it doesn't look too terrible so far (my expectations are pretty low though), it seems director Bassett is bringing with him some unsteady camera work to his episodes.

Watched the first episode tonight and mostly enjoyed it. The CGI is fucking terrible, it's a shame more practical effects weren't used, but if you can get over that you should have a good time if you liked the films.

The sex scene I heard so much about was nothing, can't believe people made a fuss.

Finished my Halloween LEGO display about a week late, but I am going to go show it off in public tomorrow. And I figured with all the hordes of hell being unleashed in it, there needed to be someone to fight them. Thus, I got a LEGO Ash together.

The second episode is up on Starz Play already, just got done watching it. Not bad at all. I was expecting a steep drop in quality like all the reviews were saying but there wasn't much of one imo.

That's pretty awesome! You should build a LEGO cabin to go along with it!

I think the second episode was hilarious. pacing was even a bit better in my opinion due to the shorter runtime. if the whole season can keep that quality it will be much more than I expected from that show.

I planned to, but ran out of time. I wanted to have a Deadite coming out of the cellar too. Once I get the full display together this afternoon I will have pics. It is a family friendly display, so no blood or guts. If I just kept it at home, it would be very violent.

Just watched the second episode. Man, that was great. So many funny moments.

I knew the mom was gonna turn out to be a Deadite but I just didn't expect it to happen so hilariously. That line had me cracking up. "Oh good, I was starting to feel like a real dick." Classic Ash, man.
Can't wait for next week. Ash vs Evil Dead is my favorite show of the season.

2nd episode was great.

I'm actually really happy with the product of the show so far, I was kinda iffy going into it but I'm pretty stoked for the rest of the season now

I loved how he was egging on the mother. "What are you waiting for? You know you want a piece of this"

Not sure what the critics watched, the second episode seemed on par with the first. Enjoying this so far, and I definitely understand why they went with the 30 minute episode format now. The show doesn't overstay its welcome or drag at all.

Agreed. I'm not quite sure what the critics were complaining about, as I thought that was easily as good as the first episode.

Episode was great. While maybe not quite on par with the first, it wasn't far off either. Felt like a natural progression. Being a huge HUGE Evil Dead fan, I can say that I am very satisfied with this show so far and episode 2 shows that the actual showrunner and writers are capable of continuing the series with Raimi working on it behind the scenes.

My only disappointment is that each episode is like 26 after the beginning preview and ending trailer for the next episode. It really just leaves me wanting a lot more. Wish there was more then 10 short episodes this season but I guess it's better then nothing.

If the rest of the series continues to be this good then that will be awesome. Glad that we are at least getting two seasons if nothing more. So good! :D

I'll be damned, they are actually pulling off comedy horror on television. That dinner scene was perfect.

The only thing I'm not sure about yet is Pablo. He seems like he is meant to be funny but he has failed to make me laugh so far. Not sure if the actor, the writing or both are at fault but there's still plenty of time to hone the character.

ep2 felt slower than the first one but it was mostly a setup episode & still nailed the gory b-movie vibes pitch-perfectly

Not going to lie. I thought the second episode was better than the first, and that's a very good sign considering it wasn't directed by Raimi.

That death by

had to fucking HURT. Dinner scene was glorious.

Thought episode 2 was kind of disappointing. A lot of the attempts to be funny didn't land as well as the first.

Not to say it was terrible, still solid, but a definite downturn.

heads up. That intro was great.
Gimme old school cheesey one liners

I think the producers are enjoying the buckets of blood especially that final slow kill.

So from that end Credits: Lucy Lawless female version of ash as in kicks ass but serious

.

YES! That final kill was fantastic and fucked up. Especially with Pablo and Kelly just being showered in blood as it occurred.

Glorious. Glorious, glorious, glorious. Last week was a bit hit and miss for me, even if the hits were phenomenal, but tonight was the moment Bruce Campbell really nailed the Ash of old, every mannerism, every dumb one-liner. Loved it. The dinner scene was immaculate.

Loved it. Didn't have all the cool Raimi camera tricks, but I can look past that. Also, way too short with me. But I love that we're learning more about Ash, like how he likes Deep Purple.

My favorite moment was when Pablo asked him about that 'get ahead' one-liner. Wondering if he meant that. It really touched me. Because, that's what Ash is all about and what sold me on the franchise as a kid after seeing ED2. It's like a meta moment where the show is telling you you're Pablo going along for the ride with Ash, as you always wanted to.

Yeah I really wish the episodes were longer. 25 minutes of content (10 episode seasons) is simply not enough. It feels like an appetizer and I really really want more. I hope season 2 is longer but it probably will be the same length.

Another great episode I thought. I think the length is a bit short but hell I'm a bit biased since I love Evil Dead. lol

Didn't realize the episodes were going to be so short, kind of a bummer. The second episode was sorely missing Raimi's camera work (shotgun cam was nice though), but it was pretty good other that.

Oh man, so good.

I think the short episodes work, no filler basically. It's all plot, jokes, or action.

Great second episode!

I legit did not expect him to punch Mimi rogers at the table and when he did I almost fell out of my seat from laughing

My fears have been put to rest. Yes, the second episode was missing some of the Raimiisms such as his dynamic camera movements and his great eye for framing. However, when the show is so much damn fun then that's OK. This show is putting on a clinic in terms of mixing horror and comedy. One minute its got that great Evil Dead horror atmosphere, then the next it has me cracking up. There were so many memorable moments from tonight's episode, and I found the pacing to be on point. The runtime does feel short, mainly because I'm greedy and I want more. I still feel that the 30 minutes, even though they fly by, are serving the show very well. If the whole season was released at once I think the length would feel just right. Even a show like Evil Dead could potentially overstay it's welcome, so I believe the producers made the right choice.

Ash vs. Evil Dead, Scream Queens, The Walking Dead, and hell I'll even throw Scream in there too (never watched AHS). I'm loving this new wave of horror television. All I need now is a couple more, maybe something in the way of Tales from the Crypt or the Twilight Zone.

This has been a pleasant surprise for me. Feels like the type of show I'd watch in the summer that's just plain fun. Good mix of comedy and light horror.
