Oh man the new trailer looks incredible. Lots of little details if you go through the trailer frame by frame. This season is going to rock!

Any legal way to watch this Europe/Germany? What I have seen so far looks awesome but nobody seems to be airing the show in Germany. :(

Yeah like A Farewell to Arms being kept in his trunk. Also noticed one little added detail that is pretty easy to miss:
Ash keeps the Kandarian dagger duck taped to his sawed off double barrel.

So apparently Starz is considering NOT ordering anymore Ash VS Evil Dead seasons. Were not quite happy with the ratings and the DVD/Blu-Ray preorders have been very mediocre. Bruce Campbel is urging people to write to Starz, subscribe and support the show. This was all unveiled during the panel that took place a bit ago. People are talking about it here:

Love the show so I am completely heart broken about this. I feel like people don't watch good shows at all anymore and it was disappointing enough for me to watch Hannibal bomb so hard. Same with Constantine and other unique shows. Shitty!

I'm happy that we got at least one season and a three episode cabin arc that pretty much acts as Evil Dead 4. Season 2 will just be more icing on the cake. I do have a feeling they'll be at least able to squeeze one more season out of it. Shame that to hear that it's having a hard time finding an audience.

I watched the first episode of season 2 last night at SD Comic Con. Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert came up on stage and did an introduction. Rob noted that they are listening to fans and are using more practical blood effects vs. CGI for this season. At any rate, the first episode of the season was amazing. Classic Evil Dead moments with a few AoD references ("Listen up, Screwheads!") thrown in. You will NOT be disappointed. The energy and humor was there in spades. The crowd LOVED it.

I wonder where the panel video is? Seems like nearly every other show has released their panel video except for this one. Bummer. Glad to hear the season 2 premiere was great.

double jump

you haven't lived until a random little kid ask you "how do you make love".
Man I was so pissed at Ash at the end of season 1 that I'm not sure I care about another season. Lol

That's a bummer. Do people even buy enough DVD/BDs for that to even matter anymore? I thought these days ratings & streaming services were everything for TV shows.

Didn't the show gain viewers over time last season? Maybe it's the DVR numbers I'm thinking of. I really hope that if the show gets cancelled that we're left with a satisfying conclusion.

I didn't watch the whole panel, but I saw the part where Campbell urged fans to subscribe to Starz so they can do seasons 3 and 4, and I didn't hear any mention of Starz being unhappy with the ratings or that they were considering cancelling the show after next season just based on the performance of season one* - it just sounded to me like your typical "We love doing what we do and want to do more so everyone please support the show!" type thing. I think he even said something similar last year before the first season premiered.

*I mean, maybe Starz had higher expectations for season one, but overall the show didn't perform terribly compared to their other shows. On the contrary, in fact, and the ratings did grow over the course of the season. At any rate, their decision on whether to move forward with the show or not will depend on next season's ratings/buzz. Any sort of panic regarding the future of the series is premature at this point.

Very few TV shows do well anymore on physical media - Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, and Outlander are the only TV shows to break the top 100 best selling DVDs of the year so far (and were the only TV shows on last year's overall list), and only the first two made the blu-ray list.

HBO is making a good amount on Game of Thrones, but the amount of revenue generated by the rest of the titles (especially the ones further down the list) would be so small that I can't image it being a factor for any studio re: renewal decisions.

I'm watching the panel now and Bruce got real. I like that he was championing the show. But no lies detected by what he said.

Ash vs Evil Dead didn't even air in my country, so it's hard to show my support. I'll be picking up the US Blu-ray.

The blu-ray is currently $24.96 (MSRP $49.99) @ Amazon.com. It would be insane not to pre-order it at that price.

For European/Australian people, the region B blu-ray is currently 44.98 Australian dollars @ JB Hi-Fi. Fox seems to be skipping the Blu-ray in Europe and releasing it on DVD only.

Yeah I'm watching the panel now and I agree that it doesn't sound as bad as that poster made it out to be. I was mostly going off what he stated and he made things sound way worse then it is.

At any rate, I will be subscribing to Starz and buying the Blu-Ray to show my support and my friends are doing the same. :)

EDIT: The actors definitely kept asking fans to sign up to Starz throughout the panel quite a few times. Could be nothing or could be that the show in on the fence. Hard to really say. Could just be that the team just really loves doing the show and really wants people to give it a chance. I hope we do get more seasons as this is easily my favorite show on tv right now.

Cool panel, great that Lee got some questions as well.

I'd definitely subscribe to Starz for Ash vs Evil Dead in a heartbeat if it were possible here in Finland. :/ I'll just keep spreading the word, for now.

They finally got the rights to the Army of Darkness content and now can talk about stuff from that film on the show and have plans to do so:

A few days late, but:

No offense, but calling bullshit on starz here, especially with that blu/DVD preorders bit. I mean, how many folks actually order a mainstream DVD/BD box set instead of walking into a store and picking it up these days? Look at GOT for fucks sake.

Hell, wait until people are bitching that Best Buy are sold out of the metal book versions...

Nah, another cliffhanger that we need wait 5/10/20 years to see continued, it's Evil Dead tradition.

Do people actually know this show exists? I've spoken to a few people who love the movies, but when I mentioned how great the show is, I get a blank stare, "there's an evil dead show?"

I think so, one of my friends who is generally in the dark about nerd culture hasn't seen it but seems interested in it despite saying "looks like it might be as good as walking dead" (throws up)
People have heard of it but don't really know what it's all about, I don't think my friend is aware that it's a comedy for example, I believe he only saw the Evil Dead remake, which obviously sets a false expectation.

Ash VS Evil Dead Blu-Ray/DVD bonus features finally unveiled:

kyAzokm.jpg

Not bad. A bit more stuff then I was beginning to think would be on the set. Super excited for the Blu-Ray/DVD. Still not sure if I am going to go for the regular edition or the Best Buy metal pack edition.

Which version does GAF want?

yeah europeans getting fucked again, would love to support the show but there is no streaming services or blurays even being released...

Some good news? Your thoughts?

Sunday is proving to be a very good day for Starz. Last night’s Season 3 Survivor’s Remorse premiere drew 883,000 viewers in Live+SD, up 164% from its second-season debut and 335% from its series premiere debut telecast in 2014. The series’ premiere night airings (three telecasts) July 24 totaled 1.25 million in Live+SD, the most ever for a Starz original comedy series. Ash vs. Evil Dead is the next-highest with 1.19 million.

The viewing audience was up across the board, according to Starz, but disproportionately in younger and female demos. In adults 18-34, the Season 3 premiere was up 373% from the Season 2 premiere and up 59% in overall audience. In women 18+, the Season 3 debut was up 230% from Season 2, up 54% in overall audience.

Survivor’s Remorse also had a strong lead-in with Power, which broke Starz records in its Season 3 debut on July 17. Last year, Blunt Talk was the lead-in to Survivor’s Remorse when it aired on Saturday night, along with Power.

Power‘s third-season premiere has drawn up to 6.5 million viewers so far.

Correct me if I am wrong but these numbers sound pretty damn good for Ash VS Evil Dead. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

As I've been saying, the numbers for Ash vs Evil Dead have always been pretty decent for Starz. It was their highest rated half hour until this season of Survivor's Remorse, which got a huge boost from being on a more high profile night and airing behind their highest rated show, Power.

AvED will most likely air on Sunday nights this fall and thus, should get a good sized boost too (though perhaps not as large a boost as Survivor's Remorse for obvious reasons).
