Assassin's Creed III |OT| Easier to read than Ratonhnhaké:ton

Is it locked to Level 1? I've had it gone up to Level 2, and I'm not sure if it goes down after that. Again, as said many times before this game really doesn't explain its systems well.

The underground stuff is the closest thing to tombs from previous games. That being said the new freerunning controls pretty much destroy any enjoyment out of it.

I did one of the undergrounds and it was nothing like a tomb. Is there really not something equivalent in this game? I fucking loved those tombs, such straightforward platforming but man the music + awesome looking action made them one of my favorites to do.

I totally agree. The closes thing to that is the 4 locations you go to find
Captain Kidd's treasure map.

Well, not to be a Debby downer or anything, but the Oak island mission has glitched QTEs.

The Wolf QTEs don't work, you'll need to find some other way to kill them.

I experienced this with the
Couger in a mine during a homestead mission. I restarted it 3 times but the QTE failed to give me enough time to even see the button. The woman hunter shot the thing and I was able to progress, so I dont really know if that was scripted or not.

Huh?

They're a bit short, but personally I think the Peg Leg/Captain Kidd missions are the most dynamic platforming missions in any Assassin's Creed so far. Feels like a more graceful Uncharted in places.

How do I go about telling Ubi about bugs? I get that I need to contact support, yadda, yadda, yadda, which is the right category? Patches/Patches Issues?

Well hopefully that stuff is better, haven't experienced it yet. But I'm just doubtful based on the controls making the platforming stuff not as fun. Imagine a mario game where when you jumped you knew you were always going to land on the next platform. Thats how AC3's platforming is.

The missions are short and sweet.

They're not as fun as the tombs in the other AC games. In fact they all kind of suck outside of the very first one, which is pretty awesome.

Oh my God, just had the best bug ever :lol

I was liberating the east of N.Y. with my contact...

The templar you need to kill is on a boat giving a speech about traitors. I decided to swim around the boat and hide behind some boxes on the pier. From that position I had a clear shot at him with my bow after which the guards of course saw me. Instead of coming to me at the pier they all jumped in the water at the side of the boat and when the last one jumped I got the cut scene to end the mission :lol

The Animus Pivot is seriously the most complex mechanism I've ever read in a game. The ingame introduction is so completely random and incoherent I literally didn't understand a thing this guy was talking about. I read three different sites who "explain" it but I still have no idea what it is or how it works.

Appearantly there is some kind of online component hidden deep within the single player? I have to hide Pivots so they appear in other people's game but people aren't supposed to find it? And I have to use Pivots to triangulate Pivots to hack Hex codes which are basically cheat codes for the Animus?

This is just blowing my mind.

I didn't understand a thing of it either. Dunno why that make stuff so complicated :p

Does anybody know how at what level/rank my recruit becomes an assassin (for the achievement)?

So completed the game last night. Was going around doing some side stuff left over. One was the fight club. I could kill all the guys but the main target. Couldn't counter, couldn't break his defense. I threw him but nothing happened until I threw him into a barrel and onto a table. I had no idea you could do these cinematic throws. Still learning even after almost 30 hours lol.

Also yeah FUCK the pivot system. I found two. Good enough for me now.

Can things like instructions and explanation of systems be patched? Or is that to much on the content side? If they way they are presented is so bad.

Oh man, that's gonna take a while. Got one at level 7 and two at level 6 now. And one I just got.

That last recruit has an awesome ability btw.
The one from eastern N.Y. can do a fake escort when you're wanted so you can still safely walk around on your way to a paperboy.

It goes by quicker then you think. Remember guys (cause I forgot till I did it on accident) You can asign more then one assassin to a mission making its success rate better. I started sending three low levels to higher ranked missions to finish them and get more exp, etc.

Yeah, I'm gonna send that new recruit with the experienced guys to gain some fast XP.

And Bob's your uncle.

That was completely random and also makes me think that End-game spoiler:
Desmond is alive since someone needs to be listening to what that random guy is saying randomly
.

Are there a bunch of homestead missions each sequence? I'm on sequence 9 at the moment and am currently doing all the ones available right now.

So I'm having a hard time gauging what other people think of the new freerunning controls. Is it just me that has the issue with it? In general its okay 90% of the time, but it definitely ruins the climbing and some of the platforming segments in just allowing you to hold up on the Left Stick and know you're going to make every single jump. I definitely understand why they needed this system for tree freerunning because it would have been way too fucking hard to tree freerun manually for most people.

I think they could have split the difference by just enabling safe freerunning while you're in trees and kept the other systems the way they are.

I also don't think they needed to go away from the pupeteering system. Before it was:

----------- Head -----------
- Armed Hand - Free Hand
------------ Feet -----------

Now its:

----- Ranged Weapon ----
- Armed Hand - Mostly Nothing (sometimes Free Hand)
------------ Feet -----------

with Head moved to LS.

I think they could have kept it the way it was before and moved Ranged Weapon to RB (which would make way more sense anyway so that you could aim and shoot at the same time), and moved the Inventory to LB. And the Assassin options in LB could have just been moved to the Pause menu.

I also really miss using the Push/Grab button and the Fast Steal button. Stealing is actually pretty clunky in this game. It seems like its somewhere halfway between AC1 and AC2.

The game takes some time to scan for pivots. Each pivot you find is a cheat for the Animus. The pivot locations aren't shown on your map, you need to determine them yourself. You do this by placing pivots in the map: the lines drawn between several pivots will divide the map and show you where a certain pivot is hidden. Place another pivot as you get closer, until you have only a small section of land to cover. Once you're close enough, the Pivot shows up on your minimap. I dunno if they're randomly hidden or if they, as you say, are based on what other players do, but they're not really hard to find.

Yes, you have to do them in specific sequences. Otherwise you can't do them till you've finished the game and they all reappear again.

Also I completed the final Homestead mission (I think it was the final) and it really hit me. Damn.

Should have been part of the main story. I thought it was very important character development for Conner.

Also did people get to see Connor's hilarious fail at using
Da Vinci flying device?

I get that, but like I made a triangle out of the pivots, and then inbetween that triangle space it was just all green... WTF then? It's very confusing, at least with the information given. "HEY PIVOTS..HACK SOME SHIT! GOOOO!!!!"

I completly agree! Also nooooo wayyy... how do you see that scene?

Yes haha, was a good moment, but it wouldn't be AC3 if it was not over the moment it started and you didn't hear a single shit about it afterwards.

It's one of the interactive conversations with the Artisan who made the folding chair.
It appears once you have almost done all the homestead missions.

You're totally right. He just walks up and acts like nothing ever happened.

Gawd the framerate on the PS3 is garbage, it can't even hold 30fps in indoor areas, at least the previous games could. And what's with the even more simplified free running and different controls? This game feels weird.

The problem is that the combat is even LESS complicated, but doesn't explain it's systems well enough.

The game does a shit job of explaining everything. Combat is really easy when you get the hang of it though. Funny thing is, I think a lot of the controls are still there, like holding circle to grab something when you drop, tackling, etc, they just don't... appear on the little button guide on-screen.

Frame rate's been okay for me though, but it's crazy how smooth it is in Naval Missions, the Frontier, and dock areas and then how much of a hit it takes in cities.

There are different kinds of underground challenges. They aren't all the same.
