Assassin's Creed III |OT| Easier to read than Ratonhnhaké:ton

Wait... [end game spoilers]

You seriously can't do all the side missions once you've finished the game? Why the fuck not? What's the point of a post-game then? That's ridiculous.

No, you can do everything post-game.

I'm working on my homestead at the moment. Done quite a lot of stuff in there now. Finally my people are levelling up and I can buy and craft more stuff. Also been working on my contracts for recruits. Having so much more fun with this game now I've ended the story line.

Oh, really?

How do I access mission replay? Can I get Achilles' suit still?

You can replay missions when looking in to the DNA constraint I believe.

And by Achilles suit you mean the suit you get from a homestead mission? If you missed the sequence where you were supposed to do it you can only get it after you completed the main story. All the homestead missions will reappear by then.

Oh btw, how do you unarm a guard, I need to that a few times for the Boston brawlers mission.

Sure, why not?

Around sequence 11 or 12 the game implies Achilles
dies, but he is magically back to life in the endgame.

Ok, yeah, that's where I was confused.

I'm looking in the DNA stuff but I can't see how to actually replay missions. Do I need to (post-game spoiler)
do the epilogue missions first?

I'm reading the metacritic page for this game, I can't stop laughing at the critic review hyperboles. Did they even play this game past sequence 3, I wonder.

If ever anyone needed any proof why nobody trusts game reviews, this should do it. "Quite simply one of the greatest gaming stories of this generation"? Are these people illiterate?

Is there a system of extra assassins like in AC:B or AC:R? Or has it been replaced by something else?

Can someone make a BRIEF description of all the gimmicks?

-Naval Battles
-Homestead (is it like Mediterrenean Defence?)
-What's the deal with costumes? Something like RDR?
-???

Who the hell is this french guy and why is he acting like he's my best friend? I'm pretty sure I never met him before
valley forge was set up
.

I was wondering the same thing. I smell downloadable chapters where we meet him for the first time. Though he did invite Connor to
Paris
, which could be a hint at the next game location.

IMO Metacritic's average score (85) is bang on for this game. An immensely enjoyable and content-filled game unfortunately marred by many bugs, a lack of gameplay mechanic explanations, and a rather so-so story. Yet I just can't get enough.

Oh and Captain Kidd's missions feel like they were made by a completely different team. Best missions in the game. They give me an Uncharted vibe, though the obvious throwbacks to the Ezio Trilogy's exploration side missions are clear as well.

-Naval battles are rad and there are a surprisingly high number of side-mission ones you can do.

-The homestead is a terrible crafting/management system. It's a neat idea but the menus were designed by a blind child.

-There aren't that many costumes but there are some neat ones. There are also the usual palette-swaps.

Can someone clarify something for me... The end of Sequence 8. I found it incredibly rushed and just a bit confusing.

You're in the gallows, with the sack over your head, then the button prompt comes up to call your assassins. Do that, and Achilles shows up out of nowhere underneath you.

Straight after that, you're told to hunt Hickey down, but everything's in slow motion. The 'alternate objectives' didn't really show up for me, so I didn't know what I needed to do for 100%. Managed to get to Hickey quickly, and I was genuinely confused as to why there was a health bar that said "George Washington" in the top left.

Killed Hickey, cutscene started, Putnam shows up, then ended VERY abruptly with Putnam finishing "They intend to kill George Washington" (Or words to that effect) whilst the "end mission" screen is displayed.

Was that just me? Or did it not make a lot of sense to others as well?

Seriously the whole Naval system is so badass and well done that they could almost make a whole nother game just based off of this alone.

Get used to shit like that. Some of the story events feel incredibly rushed.

Welp, thanks to the woodworker Encyclopedia glitch I'm fucked out getting the Platinum for this game. :/

There's no fucking way I'm going back to my last backup save which I made 30 hours of gameplay ago. Man, fuck this game and its plethora of stupid glitches and bugs.

Ubisoft will fix that surely, they fixed the books bug in Rev which also made it unable to gain a trophy.

Other glitches and bugs? Probably not.

The controls in this game are ass. Coupled with the jankiness/bugs, it's way too frustrating to play. Really disappointing so far considering AC2 is one of my favorite games this gen.

You can have 6 assassins. There are a few good abilities associated with them (You can have them dress up as the British and 'escort' you around, for example)

Maybe, The problem here is that the Extrordinary Man Trophy is still obtainable with this glitch. The trophy that becomes unobtainable due to the glitch is the Completionist one because you can't complete the quest. (The woodworker reamins at 2/3 even though you have the notification that his journal entry has been added.)

I really love the game's world and I appreciate the effort that has being put into it -
but why is nearly every game mechanic so fucking boring?
Fighting feels directed and clumsy; free running suffers from being to easy;
the whole economy system is pretty pointless because all the updates and upgrades are unnecessary; eavesdropping missions are unrealistic and annoying. I never felt any tension while doing missions at all.

So many good ideas executed so poor :(

So it's like AssCreed 2 (and 1)?

I think it's about time I return the game to Redbox. I'm not sure how long you can keep the game until they charge you full price, but I got a great idea of the game, made it to sequence 10, etc. Definitely solidified a purchase of the PC version. Can't wait to see it in fact.

Man, I'm really enjoying this game but damn is it glitchy...

I'm on this mission now where I have to free a bunch of slaves and I'm on my 4th try because every time something weird happens. First time I got to the boat at the end, hang in there waiting for the captain to get close to the boat side so I can throw him away, but as soon as he's about to arrive his animation goes crazy, ends up climbing on the handrail and finds me. Second time the first guard glitches out of space and shows up near the end right behind me, finding me. Third time I messed up, but the forth time I got found while doing the slave freeing animation... :(

Oh well..

I know that a lot of people might think that the series has lost focus and tries to fit so much in, but this series offers gamers a chance to play around in settings that would not otherwise be seen in another game. How many other games offer renaissance Italy or colonial America as a setting. I think it is excellent that they created and filled the game with so many things to do to try and make it as fully realised as possible, it may be the only time I ever visit such a setting in a game.

Even putting other media aside I have played games with better stories this year.

ACII was good though. I also liked ACI, if only for the story.

ACIII is the worst iteration in the franchise, IMO.

If I had to put a ranking, mine is:

Assassin's Creed II
Assassin's Creed III
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed I

The first game has a decent story and is an alright game with some phenomenal environments. Unfortunately the repetitiveness of the game makes it extremely boring after a while.

Gameplay wise:
AC II/AC Brotherhood

AC I

AC Brotherhood
AC Revelations
AC I

If they had freerunning/climbing back the way it was in ACII (with the exception of having Safe freerunning in navigating trees) and if the Grab/B/Circle button functioned the same way it did in previous games I would have had no problem putting ACIII at the top of the list gameplay wise. Although I also still miss the glyph puzzles and theres nothing that scratches that itch in this game at all. At least Revelations had the first person platforming stuff which gave just as interesting info if not moreso than the glyph puzzles.

Did we figure out how to grab when dropping? I haven't. It hasn't been that necessary given the generally smaller heights, but it'd be nice to know.

I felt sad for ezio in revelations... Felt he was taken out to pasture.
Hated the constantinople Setting, especially the textures. Way too much brown.

I am only on sequence 10 but for me it is:

1) Assassin's Creed II = Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
2) Assassin's Creed III
3) Assassin's Creed = Assassin's Creed Revelations

One of my convoys is permanently stuck in "Attacked" status. I'm assuming I can do something about this but the game never bothered to tell me how.

I totally feel the same way, and they totally cliched their way out of it by making the climatic portion of the story all about "the girl".

Heard in my house:

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING PIG

Same here. I would run in front of the pig and it would just push me aside and keep walking the wrong way. It was infuriating.

Yeah that's the conversation I was talking about. I was like does this guy invite every stranger he just met to his home? It's another small but weird plot hole or missing piece in this disjointed mess of a game.

Honestly, aside from a few bugs, glitches, camera angle, control and AI issues here and there, this game has really, really impressed me. More than any other in a long time. I'm not even a huge Assassins Creed fan, but this one has totally knocked me back.

I feel it's quite different from the others. Far more diverse, rich, narrative driven and atmospheric. The cities, forests, ships, seas, mountains, docks, weather with seasons et all. Just dripping with style and character. Add to that, the side games, hunting, missions etc, just keeps it all mixed up.

It feels like the GTA San Andreas of Assassin's Creed games. Detailed, gritty and bustling city areas, but then other areas that are open, beautiful, full of vista's and exploration. I'm a bit scared of heights, but holy shit has some of the climbing and jumping around left me breathless. Not the building or city streets climbing, but the mountains, the tree's, the landscapes. Some of the stuff you pull off is just sheer insanity, and the way they blend it all together works very well. Also love that segment where you're climbing a tower to glide down to the penthouse. Just gorgeous, and at the same time terrifying.

I have no idea how long I've got left, but I hope it keeps on giving.

Im guessing theres no hidden armor challenge as i have yet to come accross it. Is there anything in the game that fills in the lack of platforming challenge or is that done?

With the lack of that and glyphs im not liking the side stuff as much as the last few.

So I only have one assassin, but I can't send him on any missions because he has a 0% success chance.

How do I get him to at least level 1? Just call him when I'm fighting redcoats?

Also, is there a 'Truth' video or something like that in this game?

The way they talked to each other made it seem like they had met before but we don't see that in the game. Looks like they are keeping that for DLC, but they could have at least made some sort of effort to explain how they know each other. Disjointed sums up this game, but it's still enjoyable as hell to play.

I recently got myself a new gaming rig so I'm wondering is it worth the wait to play ACIII on pc?

I played AC1 & 2 on PS3, and AC Brotherhood on 360 (skipped Revelations), but I have no idea if the pc versions were shitty ports or well optimised.
