Astro Bot is the Fastest selling platformer (in the UK) outside of Mario in the last 10 years

Deserved! It's an absolute gem of a game 👌
Now port it to PC too, fast, it's a short game, don't wait until everybody has stopped playing it.

According to Chris, Astrobot sold more than any Sonic game in the last 10 years.

I don't see any sensationalism in his statement.

Edit: cireza cireza - instead of the usual laughing emoji that contributes nothing, maybe highlight what's wrong with his statement and where the senstionalism is?

That's his tweet. Read it. No mention of any context. No sensationalism at all for sure...

Anyone reading this will conclude that it is bigger than Sonic, Crash, Yoshi and Kirby full stop.

Except that it's only UK, PS and Physical. Damn !

1. It's not only physical. He has access to digital for most games too
2. It's not only Playstation games
3. The message you quoted is part of a conversation Chris is having with someone about UK sales specifically

The context is there for anyone who reads it.

You need an account to navigate in X. So no, you can't read anything if presented only with this post.
Then the issue is you not being able to see the context. Not that the context doesn't exist.

This is the post that Chris made that started his conversation with LordOfHollows:

He doesn't need to give the context in every reply to LordOfHollows, because that person clearly has an X account.

1. Everybody knows Chris shares UK data. Just like Matt/Circana shares US data. What's the issue here?

2. It is not just PlayStation.

3. It is not just physical either. It's based on both.

It seems more like you misunderstood at least 2 out of 3 concerns you had.

I entered the thread saw the tweet and there was zero mention of UK and physical. If it wasn't for the thread title, I would have never known it was about this.

considering he mentioned Yoshi it should be a clue he isn't just talking about PlayStation.

This is why we don't like this guy.

- Meh, it sold less than Ratchet
- Scratch that, sold better than Ratchet. But sold OK, not that good.
- Sorry guys in fact it sold incredibly well compared to others non-mario platformers. Bigger than Sonic, Crash, Yoshi and Kirby, you know those IPs loved since decades by gamers.

Fuck that guy.
wtf?

- Meh, it sold less than Ratchet - it sold less than Ratchet's physical sales...he was right
- Scratch that, sold better than Ratchet. But sold OK, not that good. - It sold more than Ratchet counting physical and digital. He's correct.

Maybe if people read everything and analyse data that's presented by him instead of shitposting they would realize everything made sense so far.

One of these days we won't have anyone to give us sales and chart positions because of this type of hostility...and for what reason?

Exactly. People think that him giving more information is somehow a bad thing or changes what he said before.

One thing to note, Playstation in general is more dominant worldwide and doesn't suffer from sales concentration to one geographic area like Xbox (USA) and Nintendo (Japan) .

So usually one area doesn't give full picture on how PS game actually performed.

As if anything needs to be said. You guys are desperate.

with the franchise having sold a total of 1.51 billion units

The Sonic franchise is estimated to have grossed nearly $12 billion in lifetime revenue across all media, including over $9 billion from video games alone and nearly $3 billion from merchandise, films, home video and books.

1.5 billion unit franchise and gets outsold by Astrobot

We?

Guess what, games sell over time. He was reporting on current numbers and these change. Of course you always need to take context in consideration, for example if something is multi platform, an established IP, marketing budget, time it has been sold for, digital only, install base, etc.

Huh? Since when is Nintendo concentrated in one geographic area? They are worldwide just like Playstation is
