Asus ROG Swift PG278Q monitor, 1440p/144hz/G-Sync

Man, as much as I think I want this monitor... I'm kinda worried about image quality. I don't think the viewing angles will be an issue since I'll just be directly in front of it... but I'd like something that can at least rival, or ideally best, my Dell 2407. I've bought a couple monitors since then, and they've both felt like a step back. I want to see progress, dammit.

DELL 2407? I use a 2408 at work and it's nothing special at all. The input lag is also so terrible that every click is a reminder how high the output > display latency is.
TFT Central have reviewed the 2407 and the ROG Swift. Why not see for yourself what they say about how they compare?

My ROG Swift was just shipped.

I should have it on Monday.

Any excuse for a community GIF :D

I'm actually building my new PC over this weekend so the timing is perfect.

Of course that means it has to work first time with no issues. That's a thing that might happen.

Maybe...

My next monitor and it has to ship in end of august :(

But I want to spend the 800$ + taxes to get it.... Come on ASUS, make some more and send one my way :P

Correct. It comes with a DP1.2 cable.

just praying it goes up on amazon as a preorder, no tax and free 2 day shipping thanks to amazon prime.

Is someone ever going to make a 24 inch in 1440p? Not everyone has space for a 27 inch monitor. This looks like a lovely monitor by today's standards but will there ever be an attempt to increase pixel density of desktop monitor? After a couple years of iPhone and iPad use with ~300 DPI reading text on a conventional display is really starting to feel like a trip back in time. Very straining on the eyes.

And to get even more off topic the next Windows really needs to have better scaling options to make 4K viable once those panels hit sane prices.

Lets assume i can carry this home on my own on the London Underground on Monday.

Is there anything anyone wants specific pics of? Specific info? Specific tests (although that might not be on the Monday, but defo next week)?

Happy to help others who wanna get this. I'll give an opinion on it after i set it up too.

I'm way too hyped about it. Been waiting for a high res Gsync display since the tech was announced. Not going back to 1080p ever again. Should be a great match for my 780 ti.

Checking retailers and forums daily for news... Don't want to miss out on the first USA shipment.

Fixed the most important aspect. :P

I'm thinking of getting in this advance of the Nvidia 800 series. Given I'll be stuck with a pretty crappy GPU until then, how does 1080p gaming look on a 1440p monitor? Also what are some good alternatives to this monitor?

This is the only 1440p >60Hz gsync monitor. There are 1080p ones and there are some 60Hz 1080 and 4k ones coming but 60Hz ruins the point for me.

If gaming is a big priority for you(in terms of your PC use), just wait. I'm sure you'll be able to find it a bit cheaper once things settle down.

Also, it doesn't sound like there are any 'good' alternatives to this. There are other monitors that are comparable in certain areas, but none that do it all like this does. Depends on what aspects are most important to you.
