It's the contrary, you have to disable it.I thought the V-Sync option had to be enabled in the game in order to enable G-SYNC but it seemed to come on automatically.
You're locked to 60hertz in games? That's strange. The "Turbo" button doesn't ever seem to change the Refresh Rate. It will display what the current refresh rate is. I changed it to 144hz in the NVIDIA Control Panel and it displays that on the desktop but it drops back down to 60Hz in game
Thanks for the info. Good to know it auto sets the GSync in the Nvidia Control Panel.
Totally off topic but:
What's that display on the front of your case?
Can you provide an Amazon or Newegg link?
Wolfenstein is locked to 60fps and he mentioned he was playing that. I guess that's the problem.
Once you go IPS you never go back, it's like eating real food and then suddenly going back to dog food(TN panels).
A lot of ports are. Every UE3 game requires a tweak to the ini to allow them to run at 120/144Hz too.Well that would explain the 60fps there.
Is watch_dogs also frame locked?

Is watch_dogs also frame locked?
No, but unless you're rocking SLI 780 ti's or CF 290x's, good luck getting it >60Hz.
mkenyon, is there some sort of list anywhere for what games don't play nicely with high Hz monitors? I doubt it, but can't hurt to ask. Maybe we should make a list/guide for gaf?
This is correct. Thanks dude, i have it set in the two places i know of:

Also i don't think you can have ULMB on at the same time as G-SYNC (it's greyed out).
There is tons of info here:

Indies, Ports, and anything from Japan. Skyrim too, it breaks game logic. UE3 does, just requires a quick ini fix. I'd imagine there's some list somewhere.mkenyon, is there some sort of list anywhere for what games don't play nicely with high Hz monitors? I doubt it, but can't hurt to ask. I've connected up the Swift to my new rig that I built it over the weekend.
I've only used it for about an hour but here is what i think so far:
- It's fucking heavy. Don't get it delivered to work then carry it home for 90 mins on the underground like i did. Complete fail.
- 27" is the biggest monitor i've ever had. It's the perfect size.
- I've also never had a 1440p screen before. I really like it.
- G-Sync seems to work like a charm. I plugged everything in and the Vertical Sync option was automatically set to G-SYNC in the Manage 3D Settings tab of NVIDIA Control Panel.
- I had a quick go on Wolfenstine The New Order and Watch_Dawgs and i didn't see any tearing at all.
- A little red light appears at the bottom of the monitor to show G-SNYC is active.
- I thought the V-Sync option had to be enabled in the game in order to enable G-SYNC but it seemed to come on automatically.
- I know people don't like the colours on TN panels compared to IPS panels but so far, straight out of the box the colours look pretty good. I haven't tinkered with them at all.
- all the buttons are easy to use but it's strange they are on the back of the monitor. It's not an issue with the 5-way joystick but the other buttons would have been better on the front.
- You can turn off the red glow on the base unit if you don't like it.
- The monitor has a built in USB3 hub so you can connect your KB and Mouse straight to it.
- The "Turbo" button doesn't ever seem to change the Refresh Rate. It will display what the current refresh rate is. I changed it to 144hz in the NVIDIA Control Panel and it displays that on the desktop but it drops back down to 60Hz in game (this is my first 60Hz + monitor so i might be missing something here?)
I can't be bothered getting my good camera out but i took some really shit blurry pics on my iPhone for you guys. Apologies for the ultra crap quality.
ZOMFG PICTURES
Works just fine. A friend has the VG248QE with the kit, but PS2 with the right config is pretty smooth. The only game he had issues with was ESO because there is no full screen mode. It is always in borderless window mode, and it doesn't work in that instance. If you can let me know how well Planetside 2 seems to work with G-Sync.

Nice!ESO has true fullscreen now, so that should be fixed.
For $800 I want some built in speakers
HQ TN = TN. I don't think I can ever go back from my MVA panels.
No worries.I'm probably going to buy divinity and play that tonight / tomorrow. So i'll let you guys know what that's like.
I don't really play DOTA 2 or Planestside so can't give impressions on that. Sorry guys.
Soon, you'll feel the same way about 60 FPS content.I just went from an MVA to a TN (different 144Hz monitor), and honestly it was horrible for the first 2-3 days and I was starting to regret it a bit, but after that I got used to it and completely stopped noticing, and now I'm totally in love with it. Playing 30fps console games is kind of painful now, tbh.
The moral of the story is, just go for it and you'll be fine in a day or 2.
No worries.
Let me know if you notice less eye fatigue with the high refresh. There's lots of anecdotes about it, with a pretty minor study done by ASUS, so I'm always interested to hear people's thoughts on that one.
Built in speakers on monitors are almost always shit.
A little red light appears at the bottom of the monitor to show G-SNYC is active.
This would annoy me to no end, holy shit.

Oh. I was under the impression that most every PC game was capable of running these framerates. Didn't realize that so many were capped at 60. I'm guessing that's a physics engine thing?Found a handy thread here: http://120hz.net/showthread.php?104-Games-That-Run-Above-60FPS&
That'll give you some good games that are 120Hz/144Hz capable
There's a lot, like UE3, that just don't code for it. It takes a few tweaks and then you're set.Oh. I was under the impression that most every PC game was capable of running these framerates. Didn't realize that so many were capped at 60. I'm guessing that's a physics engine thing?

I was just looking at those again, and might I suggest something for you. Check out this industrial wire shelving.Check out my pics above.
The red light is actually on as i was running a game at the time. I don't think it's visible in any of them.
It's not overly bright or big.
I'm not sure where it's available in the UK, but our big hardware/home improvement type stores carry it here. The PDF I sent you is from a store called Storables, which specializes in organization/shelving type things.Thats actually a fantastic idea, i'm basically stuck with the furniture as i rent.
You got a link to purchase something like that? It'll work a treat.
I can confirm that the turbo button allows me to cycle through 60Hz to 120Hz then to 144Hz while playing sniper elite 2. Good stuff
I put everything on max and was getting a steady 50-55 fps.
I'm gonna have to mess with the colours on this monitor though. I'm noticing that textures look really washed out. I've noticed it in Wolfenstine especially.
I'm running on ultra textures so it must be the monitor.
It came between this monitor and the 34 inch LG UWHD on massdrop:
https://www.massdrop.com/buy/lg-34um94-ultrawide-monitor
Linustech review pretty much sold me on 21:9, plus I can't go back to TN after having an IPS Monitor and TV it would hurt my artistic integrity. So the LG wins, best of luck to all of you who go with the Asus though.
