Edit: I saw on GameFAQs that someone else was having a similar issue. It turns out that somehow my game never loaded this cutscene and that could be what broke the story flags.

Have you gone back to that area to see if the cutscene might trigger now?

Nope. Dunno if NISA just didn't want to do it or if Koei-Tecmo decided it wasn't worth the trouble.

Yeah. I've also walked around through both caves and done a bunch of other things to try and trigger it (even sleeping until bad ending then reloading afterwards).

There's also a quest NPC right outside the town that wants me to kill a few black puni. I've already killed them, but I'm unable to turn in the quest.

It seems like there's a few things broken for me.
