It's impossible to get Cena or own Cena on the mic because you can say the absolute truth with the best and most sincere delivery and he'll just laugh in your face and giggle through the whole thing. He treats his opponents like the fans... like their reaction doesn't matter to him. It's easy for Cena to own everyone when nothing they can say will ever get a sincere reaction out of Cena.


It's lame as fuck.

WWE is constantly acknowledging the flaws in their product. They just don't care.

Like look at that Bring It To The Table bit where they mocked the commentators having to say "structure" a million times. Or when they acknowledged that the This is Your Life segment was awful.

A lot of people in that company know what's wrong, but there's only one man with the power to fix it and he doesn't give a fuck because he's entertained by it.

Doesn't matter. there's nothing Reigns could do.

A promo is like a match, if your opponent dead weights you in a match your match is going to suck. Promos are the same, it takes two, and with Cena giggling and treating everything Reigns says as he would a regual fan booing him, yeah the promo is going to suck because Reigns might as well be cutting a promo on doll.

Basically.

Cena acknowledged about how people chant "You suck" at himself and Angle but guess what? They chant it at Reigns too.

Reigns had no good lines written for him. It was the same lines every Cena opponent has ever said. Which is really dumb when they admitted that Reigns was a Cena bootleg.

The promo was actually fine....

Literally it was, if Cena had taken a second to pretend any of it mattered to him it'd have been a hot segment instead he cut a Vince Russo WCW Promo.

Roman at least pretended the segment was supposed to be serious and mean something. Cena might as well have been cutting his old poop joke promos for all the intensity and connection he had to the segment.

Cena is phoning this shit in and it's tedious.

Reigns fucked up by fumbling his words, not having a real angle towards what he was going to say and honestly after thinking about it in his head, he probably realized what Cena said was true. Had Cena been wrong Reigns could have easily turned it around on him. Cena just wasn't wrong though so he had to take that L.

Besides the other who cut that kind of promo weren't in Roman's position so it worked better.

Yeah, Styles and Ambrose had good lines against him and more than held their own. Roman just didn't cut that great of a promo tonight. It was fine, but nothing more than that.

This isn't real dude. Cena is going to get got unl;ess he actually lets himself get got, he's not going to get got if he never takes anyone seriously. Cena has been peak laugh off everything since basically his Miz feud.

Cena treated the segment like nothing mattered and therefore the segment didn't matter.

I couldn't disagree more. It started off with just a blanket "you suck" statement, which is dumpster quality. He then went on to cut the same "keep every guy down" promo that every indie guy has cut against Cena. The problem is those guys had a point! Who the hell is keeping Roman Reigns down?

People have pushed back on that before and done well, normally with a variation of "it's all a game to you" and firing up.

Cena spoke with more confidence and personality. Even ignoring the content, Cena is just flat out a better promo and it showed in every way tonight.

You see when Roman forgot his lines and looked like an idiot? That never happens to Cena ever because he's better than that and quicker on his feet.

This was the cut and paste anti-Cena promo, yet other guys managed to hold their own with Cena while giving it. Reigns couldn't, it's as simple as that
