Picked up Bravely Default. Can't even articulate why tbh I have no idea whether I'll like this game or not, but eh, I felt like it

Community Season 1 was god-tier TV. Season 2 was good, I suppose, but I think it's been pretty downhill since then.

Season 1 is far more consistently good, but Season 2 has that amazing episode with Troy's first drink. The absolute best episode of Community; no gimmicks, just solid characterwork.

Just picked up Season 3, am prepared to be disappointed

Aside from the fantastic Brooklyn Nine Nine I don't give a fuck about TV until Archer starts next year, unless Almost Human stops being POLICE PROCEDURAL OF THE WEEK and starts an arc of some fucking fashion.

Today's episode was nice. The sci-fi in the series is really good, but the writing sucks ass.

Community Seasons 1 and 2 were great, had a few weird episodes but overall very entertaining. 3 was the tipping point and 4 was just rubbish.

Did you know the DVD versions of Community are different to the aired versions in America? Since the aired versions are all I've ever seen I have no idea what the differences were but I heard some were sort of significant. Not sure why they had to change em.

Has kept me from buying the dvds tbh.

what

I really thought '2013 Andy Samberg Vehicle Project' was going to be totally shit but they assembled a great cast and the writing is really snappy. Only real show this season that has held my attention (despite loving the concept of Almost Human and the lead actors).

Terry Crews needs to get more work on the big stage. Dude is amazing.

Punch it! Jordan! So many great lines. Yeah terry crews is pretty amazing.

It's a well loved machine that's for sure. It's never really clicked with me though for some reason.
I've never played it (but my mate has one... supposedly in great nick, save for a broken plastic plane and faded cab) but from what I can see, it looks like it's a little too busy. The only reason I think I'd ever go out of my way to play one is if I could do this

Yeah it's just a list of what I've played in 2013 (which in reality would probably be double that number, but there are a lot of pinball machines missing on Giantbomb), which will then inform my top 10 for the year which will be a separate list.

I haven't played a ST LE yet. When does he get it?
Jan 24th. I'm kinda hyped. He was smitten with the Pro when he played it at the finals (he was only spectating, but the pub had just gotten it in) and barely two weeks later he's dropped $10.5k on one (according to AMD's website).

So jealous of the machines you've played, you bastard. Melbourne's quite lacking in that regard, my list would look something like this (mostly from memory):
Family Guy
Simpsons Pinball Party
AC/DC Pro
Metallica Pro
Metallica LE
X-Men Magneto LE
X-Men Pro
Transformers Pro
Star Trek Pro
High Speed (obviously)
High Speed 2/The Getaway

I can only dream of playing some of the machines you've touched this year :(

Fun fact #1: danharmonsucks is run by a guy here on GAF.
Fun fact #2: I haven't touched season 4 at all, except for the first episode. Pretty sure I'm not missing much.

Aside from the fantastic Brooklyn Nine Nine I don't give a fuck about TV until Archer starts next year, unless Almost Human stops being POLICE PROCEDURAL OF THE WEEK and starts an arc of some fucking fashion.
Who put who onto Brooklyn Nine-Nine? I have a feeling I was the first in my circle of friends to watch it... but I don't know which circle. Probably not this one.
But agreed, it's far funnier than it has every right to be. Samberg is on point as is the rest of the cast. That bitchy one whose name I forget is super hot, too.

Damn straight. I was glad when they wrote him in for being on the field, don't know whether that was due to them initially considering him for part of the season or not, but man... I just fucking love the guy. Every interview I've seen him in just makes him out to be stupid awesome.

Biggest difference in the Australian release is that all the episodes are sped up to suit 50Hz TVs or something. So everyone's voices are a higher pitch than if you just downloaded them.

It's been more or less a gradual slope down from the end of the first season, yeah. Occasional spikes when episodes really hit it out of the park and occasional bits where the standard slips in a more pronounced manner. I still enjoy pretty much all of it, though.

First three quarters of 1 > rest of 1 and first three quarters of 2 > rest of 2 and most of 3 > 4 > rest of 3

Don't be. Bad Community is still better than pretty much everything else.

I honestly don't understant the link there. Is it solely the word "gaming"? Because I've never had a payout from playing Fallout.

Fucking what? Is this common? I thought since we all moved to 720p and 1080p that this PAL / NTSC bullshit was finally over?

Season 2 DVD and one of the broadcasts (on GO I think) did it. Maybe they did it to squeeze in even more ad time, but I don't think so. Not for the DVD, at least.

Yes, this is why I hate buying DVDs and why I'm not looking forward to Parks and Rec season 3 which we got on DVD while seasons 1 and 2 have been sourced elsewhere.

Ways around it on the PC like with Reclock, can adjust the pitch shift. Still a PITA though.

My thoughts exactly. The highlight of season 2 was Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.

Harmon was there for season 3 and I didn't much care for it. I doubt his return will change much, for me that is, those who enjoyed it after season 2 may see it differently.

Fuck off.

Well, all forms of gambling I can think of are games, or they at least involve one.

They're welcome to close down casinos; the TAB and others like it; lotteries; advertising on TV, especially during sporting events; the list goes on. I'm sure people will still care about the Melbourne Cup once you can't bet on it, maybe they'll see it as small men being paid by rich people to beat the shit out of horses for entertainment.

I suspect they are trying to have a go a tablet f2p games aimed solely at kids, and rightly so, with outrageous freemium schemes. Smurfberries anyone? Seems a little hamfisted lumping all gams together in the single sheet ad though.

Incorrect or non believable messaging is worse than no messaging when trying to change behaviours since it allows people to discredit the source and means their future messages are ignored.. If more governments realised this we would be a lot better off.

Worked well in China.

They have legalised gambling and complain when people actually gamble. I understand the reason for doing both, but they need to do a better job of painting it as the shitty pastime/habit that it is.

Actually removing advertising for gambling altogether would be very welcome. You won't be able to completely stop people doing it, but changing the culture around it is much more productive.

I don't know what happened in China, but I'd imagine the results were far from good. Gambling goes underground and outcomes from that are never positive or self-contained. Gambling is legal here, but not all forms of it, and people still organise and participate in those illegal varieties.

WHY FOX WHY

Why do Fox suck so fucking much >_<

I've been following it ever since the James Franco roast, which I'm pretty sure I discussed with you at the time.

Fuck off.
On topic: Gambling starts with bad parenting.

Kids not learning moderation starts with bad parenting.

Shitty attempts to turn the tide of people getting into gambling starts with a poor understanding of why the issue has increased in a society that gambling has been a part of since even before the ten commandments were brought down Mt. Cyanide by Troy McClure.

Off topic: My biggest issue with your game, Jetpack Joyride, is that whenever my son flies into a token he is rewarded with a turn on the slot machine at the end of the run.
Having the option to turn off the unsubtle gambling references would be nice.
Same with a password blocker for microtransactions.
I understand though that the game is not 'made for' kids and the responsibility lies with the parent. As such I make sure the data is disabled, he's flying a steam powered jetpack and that he doesn't use any spins. I've already had one incident at a bistro where he has gone running into the gaming area, trying to give the machine a go before we could run over horrified, so I can say it does create a causal link in very small children (I doubt it would in teenagers though, due to the understanding of the difference between game and reality).

So i'm thinking.

Can you get a smaller 24" display that has a really high resolution? Not sure that works.

This can not be real, oh wait, its from south fucking australia

Though really...I don't see candy crush as much different to pokies. That said they should be educating parents more in terms of locking down microtransactions on kids devices rather than perhaps pushing for more laws.

A girl at work was playing a free pokie machine game on her phone. I find gambling with real money on pokies boring, but that seems like a bigger waste of time. Though you can buy more credits, but as there no reward/payout I don't see the point.

God people are stupid.
