AusGAF 10 - Node Country for Old Men

Having recently figured out how to get Netflix working I'm struggling to find anything to watch. When I start it up I'm accosted by a sea of B-movies that I had no idea existed.

My friend put me onto House of Cards but I don't really feel like watching that atm. Checked out Orange Is The New Black and it's ok, I guess. I'm looking for a show or two to gorge myself on over the next few weeks. Already seen all the usual suspects (Breaking Bad, Dexter, everything on HBO even though there is no HBO) and whatever has been on TV here. Anything I might not have seen? I don't want anything too drama-y

Just finished watching the Tropfest 2013 winnner BAMBOOZLED: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Erc...iew-vl&list=PLZ4MsBTSmdgYLjEOprwIBVn5g6uM-5jD. I'm usually not PC about cinema or any form of art and happen to enjoy a lot of genre fiction that's unashamedly sexist.. but that was absolutely terrible, and it's shameful that it actually won anything /rant.

Yeah, saw that yesterday. I think you can argue they were genuinely making a point about the insanely exploitative nature of reality tv and the lack of ethics involved, but it was pretty fucking bad. Pretty much ended up being 'haha, you caught teh gayz'.

I've been discussing in-depth with friends and the BIG problem with it I think is and I'm pretty sure the director intended it to be the case is it's basically using the "shame" a straight guy feels for having sex with a male as a punch-line for a joke... like as if that joke isn't played to death. Yet the premise it had going at the start could have said some interesting things about the nature of gender and sexuality. Which is a bit of a shame.

Though really...I don't see candy crush as much different to pokies. That said they should be educating parents more in terms of locking down microtransactions on kids devices rather than perhaps pushing for more laws.

Valid statement, But were a nation of sports nuts, and theres sports betting everywhere.
And as a parent, I choose what my child plays, and i am educated in regards to this

Its a shame what digital babysitting has become

Also, the reveal shouldn't be taken as 'you had sex with a man after all'. He would have had sex with a man either way, if the guy was a trans man or not.

Yeh raise a hand and say something.

Also your gaf name amuses me. Some times I find myself just saying aarglefarg outloud at work :(
I will. :) I'll suggest 2 half days and 1 full day a week as a compromise. I'll be happy with that.

Thanks. I like 'aarglefarg' as a fun expression of frustration and it ended up coming in handy as a unique username. :)

There were definitely some much better contenders. The whole festival was kind of uncomfortable in the same way that film was. The host introduced Tina Arena by saying "this is just like my dreams but this time we've got clothes on" (among a whole array of France jokes and toilet humour), and this film was accused of being "propaganda" :| It also would have been nice to have a non-smoking area, because being surrounded on all sides by chain smokers didn't particularly make for pleasant viewing.

Fuck off.

If this came from any other state, I'd assume it was a parody.
But after how SA kept screwing us for so long over R18+...sadly, this doesn't surprise me. Thanks to gun control they don't have a spate of shootings to blame on games, so they had to find something else they could turn it into a scapegoat for.

Volition wants to make FreeSpace 3

"But would Volition be interested in returning to the franchise? “You have no idea," Boone told NowGamer. "There is a group of people that would commit murder to do that game."

I sure think they will do a bang up job funding Volition to make a space sim!

Definitely gonna check out Archer. Most of those shows aren't on US Netflix, though. What country are you using?

without knowing what you've already seen:

Parks and Recreation
30 Rock
Firefly
Chuck
The Office
It's always Sunny in Philadelphia
Better off Ted
Sherlock
Portlandia
star trek (all of them)
Coupling
Doctor Who (S1-6)
IT Crowd
Mission Impossible (179 episodes of retro cool)
and
My Cat From Hell. seriously.

That's basically what appeals to me that's currently on netflix. I'm thinking of cutting it for a few months when I finish up a few shows I'm watching and trying Hulu for a bit.

Update but don't link an NNID to your system. You only need it for Miiverse, and you're going to be forced to update to access the store sooner or later (if they're not already doing that).

Games arent much cheaper anymore on the eu store since Nintendo dropped the rrp to 59

Good thing every digital-only release that comes out in the UK also hits our eShop!

Oh wait.

Yo rep:

Edit: People. The name of the new exploitable game for the Vita has been announced, but it's only available in the US. Do I just create a US account for my other memory stick and use that? Can I just pay via credit card/Paypal for it on PSN?

You can try your CC, might not work though as the address for the card is Australian. If not, buy a voucher through Amazon or eBay.

My replacement PS4 arrived today. Huzzah. This one actually works.

Interestingly it was a full retail box, so for my trouble I gained a second DS4 and related cables.

Didn't have much time to do much beyond test it so far, but I had enough time to try Flower/Flow and I was pretty surprised at how much better they control. I guess the gyros are much better.

That's kind of the thing (at least for me). I subscribed, but aside from some anime I don't actually get much use out of it as I tend to have seen most thing I'd be interested in. Its useful for an occasional rewatch but thats about it.

Well I did watch the new Bond film via Netflix as I missed seeing it in the cinemas for some reason.

Community Season 1 was god-tier TV. Season 2 was good, I suppose, but I think it's been pretty downhill since then.

I've enjoyed all seasons of Community, to some extent.

I am now playing Spelunky on 3 platforms and am close to getting my fiancé addicted.
