i don't think a detail like that will be superfluous in a written show though.

the scene where she notices they're gone and the shot lingers on her distressed reaction made a bigger deal out of it than it would be if those were random 10$ glasses bought at the local store

I guess we'll see but there's no shot of the glasses in the OP or anything like that. I didn't consider her reaction to be atypical compared to how a normal person would react if they lost their glasses. Shit, glasses are expensive.

Why the fuck is character exposition important at all in a show about girls hitting each others with their ass and tits?

Next people will be asking why the housewife in a porno is ordering a sausage pizza in morning, where her husband is and wanting to understand why she's gonna bang the pizzaman.

Was looking at the shows coming out this season trying to figure out if there is more than three shows I'm going to actually end up watching. And I'm seriously flabbergasted it's like all my worst fears rolled into one anime. I'm sure this one will set us back decades...

5 Hottest Manga Being Adapted to Anime this Fall 2016 Season
The author invented a sport in which ladies in bikinis ram their boobs and butts into each other on a platform on a swimming pool until their opponenta fall off into the water.

It's honestly quite entertaining in its own weird way due to it having the right mix of knowing just how dumb it is yet also taking its sport completely seriously. It's about as good as a manga about bikini butt wrestling could be. You can take that statement however you want.

Never change Japan.. never change

Anyone who watched the op - what would you rate it on the scale of gif-able show with viral sensibilities?

I thought the whole point was character exposition, if you catch my drift

I take it you've never heard of Rumble Roses or Dead or Alive

I finished watching the final episode this morning and I'm going to miss the stupid fun conedy this show provided each week. Sone of the gags were pretty bad,(rare) but when the show resonated with me, it was hilarious.

Yuri 01

There were definitely some issues with the narrative’s tone. Each character’s introduction was outlandishly silly and clashed with the scene’s subject matter. That said there was plenty of characterization for the main character.

Yuri 01

As a visual show piece it was gorgeous. The visuals display a clear distinction between each character’s personality types. What would make it even better is some type of plot.

Yuri 01

Getting right back into things with some mysterious drama. Episode wasn't anything special but it did a decent job with reintroducing the setting.

ALL OUT 01
This was really hard to watch. The leading characters are just unimaginative and completely unlikable, and they get no help from a nonexistent side cast. I'm not opposed to muscle BL but these character designs are atrocious, particularly the guy with red hair who has white curls for no reason. It should also be said that rugby is a bottom tier physical sport that is vastly overshadowed by lacrosse and American football, and the staff's complete lack of passion or understanding for rugby as a sport is bluntly apparent.

Keijo swimsuits reminded me that I'll probably never be able to learn how to swim. Not that I ever need to do but I feel like it's a necessary skill.
You should, swimming is fun and I don't think it would take that much time to reach a competent level with a few lessons.

It's a show about butt battles and it's not horribly grating to sit through, so it gets my stamp of approval atm.

Flip Flappers 01
The artstyle is gorgeous and the ED is amazing, the relationship between the two leads needs to be fleshed out a bit more because through the episode it felt like Cocona and Papika had already met or something because the way they acted around each other didn't feel earned for the time they spent together there. I'll at least give it a few more episodes because this could certainly be something special if things come together right for it.

Yuri on Ice 1

I really liked this episode. I've watched Flip Flappers already (it's also good!), but I think this one is my favorite. It's energetic and colorful, the animation is beautiful, and I really like how it introduced all the characters and the town.

I honestly really enjoyed how it balanced tone. Perhaps it goes a little hard on the comedy early on, but I'm glad all the direction wasn't entirely focused on portraying Yuri's depression. We saw more than enough to get a sense of how much he was struggling with his loss, and how to move forward, and for me, those feelings served as a subtext for all the other characters who were somewhat blind to it, whether it was his mom, his teacher, his childhood friend, or whoever. They're all very supportive and positive, and the show trusts the audience to view them in light of what we already know about Yuri and how he's feeling.

Look, it could have been entirely about how depressed he was (like, say, the second episode of Rozen Maiden Zuruckspulen), and that could have worked well, but that's not the only way to portray a protagonist gripped by that emotion. This way, I feel like I got a stronger sense of what the world around him was actually like. And I don't think the humor undercut his depression because (aside from the goofy cut-ins which felt kind of sarcastic to me) the jokes never forced him to act outside of the mode he was in, and often wound up being at his expense.

I hope it can keep up this level of quality, unlike another certain Sayo Yamamoto-directed show.

Makoto & the Magical Penis 10

NOPE

What was that shot with the knifes and then Kotonoha with the dead eyes? She's going to do something really stupid, isn't she?

Also goddamn Makoto. You're fucking everyone in the school except for your girlfriend, but you can't force yourself to break up with her?

And are they implying that Taisuke fucked Kotonoha? That's fucked up.

EDIT: I JUST STARTED EPISODE 11 AND THIS CAN'T BE REAL, HAHAHAHA HOLY SHIT

At this poibt, you'll sail to the finish line tonight, lol

The Sakuga Blog has just put up an article about episode 1 of Sound Euphonium S2.
After reading the article and dimb's critiques it's become even clearer to me that there were two directors for the episode. During the first half there were so many awkward shots with weird camera panning such as when the four first years are waiting for the train. Rather than having all of them in the frame the camera pans between the two sitting on either edge of the group whenever one of them is speaking. The most erroneous shot was probably when Reina and Kumiko are talking to each other at the top of the stairs and both their faces are only half in frame before the camera pans to the other talking.
However I couldn't find many faults in the second half of the episode where Fujita supposedly takes the reins as director. The scene on the bus, while a bit jarring jumping to and from it, was particularly engaging. The body language in the opening shot really conveys what the emotion of the scene is with a girl clutching her legs in guarded position with her toes curling. She is unsettled by something and as the camera pans around the bus to show others crying or looking downcast it becomes obvious that the group has endured some type of defeat.

A Hentai plot without the porn 11

Oh god, it got worse hahahaha

He did it with the 3 girls and he's so nonchalantly about it. And then when Otome calls him he says something like "I'm so free I was getting worried (that my magical dick was losing its way)".

Then when everyone dumps him he tries calling every girl and even says "what's wrong with everyone?"

This show is a masterpiece of badness and Makoto is the king.

I've never seen something so trashy but so good.

Going for the finale now. I'm not ready, GAF.

"Written"...

As in "someone high on drugs put words together on a piece of paper"....

As in "this show has no series composition credit because it is too ~conceptual~"...

As in "damn Watanabe, you still had a stash of the good stuff left over from Space Dandy? We wanna smoke some"...

School Days 12 / END

Boy-That-Escalated-Quickly-Anchorman.gif

I think I can say with confidence that this is the trashiest anime I've ever watched. If they actually showed the sex, this could pass as a bad hentai. I'm pretty sure there are better written characters in actual hentais than Makoto. Jesus Christ, the guy was a dick. Not a jerk, an actual dick. He fucked the entire school and isn't able to finish a complete sentence. Teach me, master.

And things got really fucked up in the end. I was expecting Kotonoha to kill Makoto, not Sekai, and I definitely wasn't expecting Kotonoha to behead his dead body and bring with her to the middle of the ocean lol

"Kotonoha said that there is this clinic where you can go"

10/10 will recommend to friends.

Yuri is good.

No debut this season has really grabbed me so far. Granted, that means some of the shows I'm so-so could improve.

Hoping March Comes in like a Lion is good, since people seem excited for it.

Regalia 06

The exposition dump about what Regalias are was actually kind of interesting, along with the graveyard and last moments of the water Regalia. I would watch a story about that instead. It's a shame the actual main cast isn't really anything. It's a shame the old man got cut already, but at least psycho shota is left.

Yea I didn't like Keijo either. That's largely because Xebec skipped almost all of the character work for the main duo and as a result there's no real reason to be invested in any of the characters right now. This episode served as an introduction into the sport of Keijo but lacked any interesting character work as a result. For example we don't know why the main character is driven by money, only that she is, and her friendship with Sayaka is pre-established. This is possibly a case where knowing the source material is going to actively harm my impression of the show.

Not to mention I wasn't particularly impressed with the animation as the lighting is fairly basic and the movements aren't detailed all that well but I did appreciate the thick lines on the character art.

Right. It looks very 2009.

If they actually showed the sex, this could pass as a bad hentai.

It's adapted from a bad hentai. School Days is most famous for its bad endings, although the ending in the anime is a combination of original content and one ending from the game.

There's also various other good and bad endings. My favorite is the one where Makoto breaks it off with Kotonoha with Sekai standing beside him, and Kotonoha ruins their relationship by jumping off of a building headfirst into the pavement directly in front of them (link, skip to about 3:15 for the good part, gore warning). There's also a harem end where both Kotonoha and Sekai end up pregnant and are super happy about this so uh, yeah.

I haven't played it myself and I'm not really interested in it though. The only 0verflow game I'm interested in playing is Cross Days, and it's unlikely we'll ever get that.
