Based on what we know of the Switch 2, are you getting one?

Will you order a Switch 2?

  • Yes, preorder day 1

  • Yes, but sometime after launch

  • Nah, not a Nintendo fan

I get every system, so by default yeah.
and it's gonna be day 1 if possible (fingers crossed preordering works without too much trouble)

Too many great Nintendo games to enjoy to skip it. Fire Emblem being damn high up there, but who knows when we get another.

Really feels like "based on what we know" amounts to very little for me so far.

I doubt I'll buy hardly any 3rd party games for it though, I feel like I'm better served through other handhelds there. Pretty much going to be a 1st party handheld for me, and I'll love it all the more for that.

Even with what we "know", it's still a huge question mark for me.

Am I interested? Of course, I grew up with the NES, so there will always be some kind of soft spot for Nintendo. That being said, I can't (and won't) get excited without knowing concrete details. The system, the games, the price, etc.

yes. i probably wont play it much and gift it away very soon, but yes. Nintendo deserves my money and all of its sales. They are the least egregrious game company i know, vs the fun they bring.

I won't discard the idea of buying my first Nintendo console since the Game Cube, but probably not just because my backlog is starting to have a biblical scale.

At least 2 of them for the house hold, day 1 without question. Then probably another 2 later on in the life cycle with improvements. I think we have owned 5 or 6 vairations of the Switch since 2017.

Yes but quite a while after launch. Usually these consoles arrive at twice the price down here, with best deals at 50% markups so we are talking about 600 bucks at the very least. My backlog for Switch is pretty long and would like playing some games directly on Switch 2 but since most of the ones I do play aren't power hungry I can stick with the Switch until I can find a good deal (just to give an idea, right now the cheapest OLED we can buy are about USD 330-350).

I voted yes after launch but if there's some killer game that comes day 1 it's possible I'll get it day 1.
Not in a rush as Nintendo for me these days is just the odd game here or there maybe once a year.

Day 1 preorder as long as it's BC. Gave my Switch to my mom a year ago and didn't think I'd miss it as much as I do. Can't wait to get the bigger, better version that hopefully upgrades the existing library to 60fps. The game I'm looking forward to the most on new hardware is Bayonetta 3.

Day 1. Preorder for sure.

Nintendo listened to reason and just made a Switch sequel instead of reinventing the wheel with silly gimmicks. It'll be a hit.

Agreed.

They need to stick with what works and grow a strong base. Now is the time to start doing Switch 2, Switch 3 etc. They kept overcomplicating shit and I saw none of that actually helping their install base, focus on solid software and hardware upgrades that actually make fucking sense to the majority instead of this gimmick shit they kept doing for generations.

That shit caught up to them and maybe a few flops was enough for them to see that isn't really a sound plan.

I need that Animal Crossing launch game lol

I have a bit over $50 in gamestop credit just waiting for the announcement to set up my preorder

So fuck yeah

I have not pre-ordered from them in such a long time. The last time i got a system from them was PS4's launch.

I'm just pre-order online theses days, but I might actually fuck around and just go to Gamestop vs doing the online refresh battle lol Especially if Animal Crossing is a launch title or something. My sister loves the IP so I'll likely buy 2

I preordered my ps5 at gamestop during the second wave of preorders. after the scalper fiasco of 2020, I'm doing my preorders in store (its where I've had the most luck)

And if for any reason I cant, I'll likely try my luck at one of the local walmarts/targets with tye least amount of foot traffic at launch (or perhaps even my own store)

I like your thinking bruv.

I'll do the same this time around. I'll probably just stick to online with pre-order games for it or something. I don't even know if I really care about its specs, new features etc, i'm just getting it to play Animal Crossing and them Xeno games at this point lol

It has nothing to do with the power of the unit. None of us Big N fans ever truly care (although we'd love more power it's not the be all, end all). What I REALLY care about is the fucking GAMES! And that's something Nintendo has ALWAYS delivered.

The idea of a switch with steam deck specs is a deal i cant pass up on. Perhaps we'll finally get games that couldnt be ported to the og like elden ring and sparking zero.

Nintendo is also pretty much the only one of the big three I'll give the benefit of the doubt to, I have yet to have a system thats outright disappointed me (even the wii u has its merits)

Playstation is a good second and i immediately wanted a ps5 for the demons souls remake so credit where its due.
Xbox however…well, I'm content playing xbox games on my pc.

Yup. Most of my Switch library is digital and since consoles only have remasters, why not. Bring on Windwaker 4K.
Joking aside, this current gen of consoles has been so boring, anything even remotely different I am all in.

We'll see. I'll probably bite when Monolithsoft's next game or a new Zelda comes out.

I REALLY don't want to give Nintendo any money anymore though, entirely due to their legal team and fucking with emulation/patents/frivolous lawsuits.

As always with Nintendo, if I do buy one, it will be all physical media for new games. They still have a long way to go with online offerings and digital content. I'm not rebuying their shit for a 3rd or 4th platform.

The hardware specs aren't even in my top 10 considerations, since you know it's going to be underpowered, even at launch.

Only way for me to buy a Switch 2 console is if they're making a big AAA Zelda game with a art style similar to Majora's Mask/Ocarina of Time or the Wii U Tech demo, basically back to the unique dark fantasy style.

Wait .. it's not oled?
Everything is pointing towards LCD, so definitely expect that.

They'll probably replicate the Switch with an OLED model a few years in, unless they choose to actually do a 'Pro' and add more changes than just the screen this time.

switch 2 looks boring, just an updated version, it should not take this long to refresh the hardware if this is the direction nintendo is taking

I think it'll be miniLED. I think it's looking like a better tech.

I don't know, man. I'd be happy anything more modern but I always expect the worst with Nintendo.

I expect it to be LCD on a 8nm Samsung node and to have pretty poor battery life day one at $300/400, and I expect they'll also make money of each unit from day one. Then they'll make an OLED/Pro model on a much better node in a few years and taut the much improved battery life as a major feature. It seems like a perfect strategy for them.

We'll see.

I wish they just sold a dock separately that included all the hardware needed for console only play, for a cheaper cost.

I think the Switch would be great if only the games looked acceptable on a big screen. By that I mean at least 1080p native resolution and AA. That would seriously be sufficient, and the Switch 2 should at least be able to do that so I'm in.

I love new tech and I can't imagine that they won't deliver good games as always.

Yeah, of course it's a day 1.

Their software library (currently) is full of quality and I'm looking forward to the new titles on switch 2.

Even if they only ship with 1 game at launch (fingers crossed for Bowsers Olympic Break-OUT) it's still going to be a banger of a new console.

Yeah, I doubt that as well. But you never know with Nintendo.

I just think a SKU like that would sell even worse than the Lite, which is already the worst performing one.

What do we know?
Is there a summary of all things confirmed?
That'd be a very short list. I think the only thing that's actually confirmed by Nintendo is that it'll be backwards compatible. They haven't even officially given us a name yet as they still refer to it as "the successor to the Nintendo Switch".

But I mean, we have so many independent leaks that are all pretty much all identical at this point.
