The difference there though is that there are other items for $2.50. I mean, you could just buy another key if you like. My, and many other people's, major issue with Live spacebucks is that the pricing of content and points bundles is specifically engineered to require you to spend more money than you intended to.
But you also save a lot in many cases. If Steam offered points or ran promotions where you get free points to buy games many would go nuts with excitement. I have about 30 plus great games on XBLA and maybe half of them were bought with free points and the other half with discounted point cards. I have like 2000 points just sitting in my account and another 4000 points I got half off.

So yeah one benefit with using actual money is you can buy that item you want for exactly $2.50 but a added bonus of using points is that on occasions you may come into ways of earning enough points so you can get that item for free.

I don't think there will be two different versions of the game on steam. It says retail because the game wasn't purchased from the Steam store.

I sure hope so. I'll just wait and see.

Hey you won't get any disagreement from me about that, I just think it's worth pointing out that the whole Steam trading thing actually gives you a lot of ways to obtain Steam wallet funds for free. Also there have been rumours of Steam Wallet cards for as long as there has been internets, so it's quite possible that those very same benefits will eventually make it to Steam.

Steamworks is the DRM we need. The DRM we deserve.
But the Steam store says that both SecuROM and GFWL are on the Steam version in addition to Steamworks...or is there confirmation that this is not the case? D:

So what are the chances that the "offline" modes will have an optional GfWL so those that want it can use it and those that don't don't have to?

As i said before:

• buy the game from Amazon for cheap.
• buy no DLC.
• Wait for the GOTY edition.
• Buy GOTY edition off of a steam sale for cheap.

At leastm this is what i'll do.

Hmm... This is a real cluster of DRM...
This is becoming troublesome/confusing.

I think all three will be in place. In other words, it'll be exactly the same as Arkham Asylum.

edit: Oh wait, forgot that Steamworks is new. This really is a clusterfuck.

Im surprised Batman AC isn't 89.99USD yet on Steam. I'm sure effen Warner Brothers will take care of it soon once they realize their mistake.

I'll DRM your DRM so that you'll be DRMed real good.

maybe one of the new Scarecrow effects (if he's in the game) will involve GFWL "deleting" all of your saves

That'd be the best. Or even if it actually is steamworks, they should bring up the GFWL achievement popup at some point.

Ugh, SecuROM. At least I got the game free with my graphics card, and the release date seems to be 15 instead of 18.

If they actually have 3 kinds of DRM for the Steam version then WB is dumber than I thought.

Personally, I intend to stay upbeat until given a reason not to be. I'm sure we'll know the real situation shortly, and until then I choose to be blissful in my ignorance.

I believe Securom's generally bundled with GFWL games, so it was probably inevitable. Since I'm already putting up with it for Batman AA... well, at least we have Steamworks features to help negate some of the worst there.

+1

Seriously it looks great, they really weren't kidding about the PC version being the one to get.

Reading through the piece it sounds like the video footage is from the 560, so probably not max settings, and the screenshot is DX11 with all the stuff turned on.

Oh I'm sure it requires some grunt to pull off what they're showing there, but even if I can't play it with bells and whistles today I will in a year or so. Also gives me the motivation to finally put my 8800GTX Ultra in for dedicated PhysX usage.

SCREW YOU PHYSX.

Anyone know if it's possible to have a nVidia card for physx with ATI as the main card?

You used to be able to do that, but then NVIDIA locked it out so I think some folks hacked the drivers to re-enable it?

What is wrong with you dude? How can you hate on that boobage! Tasteful yet titillating. Plus extra aeration for when she is getting all jiggy with the heisting capers.

So does that mean if I buy retail I can register it on Steam?

Still waiting on the specifics at this stage, all that can be said for certain is that the version which showed up on Steam today uses Steamworks extensively, while still mentioning GFWL as well as Securom.
