I think the car will swing around to the direction you were pointing when you pressed the button.

Quite a few times I've pressed the button THEN looked the direction I want it to point and it looks the wrong way.

Hmm. I can't confirm or deny this at the moment

I feel like there were times where i was standing still and i'll call the batmobile and the camera will automatically focus on wherever the batmobile is coming from and then it'll still swing itself and point me in the wrong direction

EDIT: Here's a clip from a stream i was doing yesterday. I'm up on the rail, i see a car i want to chase, i drop down facing the direction the car is moving and you can see the batmobile symbol appear as i'm headed to the ground and the batmobile comes and completely points me in the opposite direction and then i go to find the car but i lost it. Between waiting for the animation for the batmobile to show up and it potentially pointing me in the wrong direction, i lose out on small things like this in the moment. Again, not a huge deal, just a bit of an annoyance.

Man this game just looks incredible O_O

All the stuff associated with the Batmobile is ridiculously goofy, but I like it a lot. The way it's incorporated into the puzzle design is really neat.

jesus christ man this fucking game just hard fucked my ps4 :(

though it was bricked..

it froze sold... had to fucking unplug it

I had the same issue. IT probably had something to do with me keeping my PS4 in REST MODE. I'm thinking between this and the Bloodborne memory issue, it probably doesn't hurt to actually turn the PS4 all the way off every few days. Once I unplugged it and let it do it's maintenance, I didn't have any more problems. It was trippy when it happened, though. EVERYTHING froze. Batman just wouldn't close.

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
Batmobile would be more fun if it wasn't just used to power winch things and fight those unmanned tanks.

There's a lot to learn, bub. Arkham Asylum and City made a big effort to help ease new players into things, but Arkham Knight explains almost nothing. Seriously.

1. Open up the map and navigate to the 'W' tab for 'Waynetech'. This is your skill tree. If you open the middle option, which doesn't have any upgradable abilities, you can read all of Batman's base moves in the game. It's worth going and reading every one of these in the 'core skill' hex in the middle of the skill tree. [Edit: I bring this up because frankly it doesn't even teach you the basics of what you can do and how stuff works. I don't think it explained countering much, if at all, when I started.]

3. Don't think you can survive bullets.

The rest should be pretty evident

Yea it explained absolutely nothing, but the combat I got down right away I just have to remember the combos. I played the Harley Quinn dlc mission first and yea the enemies with guns got me a few times.

I'll remember to check out the skill trees more when I get home. Thanks.

I noticed last night that my Grapnel doesn't seem to be able to pull guys off ledges anymore in Predator encounters. Anybody else notice this?

but when you switch the Battle Mode to toggle doesn't that just make L2 reverse and still not really brake? (at least that's what the in-game control layout says in Options)

It becomes like L2 to brake and reverse, Square to handbrake/brake.

L2 technically isn't for breaking but it does the same thing with more control.

No problem. Feel free to PM me or ask here for more help.

It will drip-feed you more complex tips (like how to quick-use gadgets in fights) throughout the game. It's worth sticking with Story Mode for a while to learn a lot of the basics. Remember you'll get big XP bonuses in fights for varying your moves as much as possible. So make sure to try and squeeze in the cape stun on Circle, or quick-throwing a batarang with L2, even against 2-3 guys. (In previous games there was an Achievement/Trophy for using EVERY move in one fight... I sure hope it's not present in Arkham Knight... It was only barely doable in City.

The same goes for Predator encounters - make sure to Silent Takedown dudes from as many hiding places/vantage points as possible. You'll get more XP.

That is irritating. But yeah, it's hardly game-breaking.

Not yet at least. He's also changed his screens to non-spoiler stuff now. But in his original post he was all "Arkham Knight endgame shit!", like he was proud of spoiling it for everyone. He fucking BETTER get banned for this. And never come back, since he's a junior.

I think he was referring to the Batman: Endgame comic, not the end of the game itself. Also, the spoiler is fortunately from an hour or two into the main storyline, not the end. Still incredibly frustrating though, since Rocksteady intentionally went to great lengths not to reveal it.

I finally was able to sit down and dump a good 5 hours or so into the game last night and......forget the haters, Im having fun with the Batmobile now. Its not as good as the freeflow combat but its still fun.

i'm in the (boss spoiler)
tank fight with knight
and the entire thing is annoying and not batman like, you can't drive away fast enough and my xbox is chugging in the 20's at this point of the game.

This is hair pulling bad.

Bad times, man.

That was fine for me on PS4. If I'm thinking of the right bit.

:( damn missed this post... well i never use rest mode.. so not sure.. i used it for the first time on launch night to see if that fucking update file would download faster....! but for some reason it didnt download at all. it was only in rest mode for 50 minutes. other than that i always turn it off. the orange light is off putting to me for some reason.
but the same for me after it done its maintenance once i unplugged it i played for a few hours without issue... shit better not happen again.. :/

Just done the first Predator challenge that unlocks, took me about 30 minutes to get 3 stars! Something about that map and those objectives was just so hard.

Ran fine on the PS4 but that whole segment in general was fairly terrible. Probably the least enjoyable part of the game.

Oof, that's not what I wanted to hear about the performance on the X1.

Just done the first Predator challenge that unlocks, took me about 30 minutes to get 3 stars! Something about that map and those objectives was just so hard.

I unlocked the first combat AR challenge yesterday and for the first time i realized how much they changed the AI and the way they attack.

Granted i'm not fully leveled up in combat, It took me about half an hr to get to a 76 hit combo even though i could pretty much hit 100 with my eyes closed in AC

The enemies crowd you a lot more which makes it hard to get adequate spacing. The simple A+ strategy in AC was to get your combo up until you can start to free flow and then basically attack guys that are farthest from the group to give you breathing room. It's a bit harder to do this in AK it seems.

Also enemies start attacking you sooner than they did in previous arkham games. If I'm doing a beatdown on a guy i can maybe get 2 or 3 hits in before i need to counter someone else.

It makes it more thrilling so i'm not complaining but it makes it so that you just can't immediately rely on muscle memory too much

Can anyone tell me how close I am to finishing the game ?
I'm currently escorting
Ivy to the Botanical Gardens.
I would like to finish the game tonight but I don't know if i will have enough time...

Other than that, I'm really loving the game. I'm not a fan of the batmobile being shoehorned into everything but that seems to happen less and less as the story progresses.

As much as I'm liking the game the damn Batmobile is killing me. It was fun the first few minutes but it's just a pain to control.

Is anyone else having a problem with battle damage appearing on the Batsuit over time? When I look at the character model in the Showcase thing the default suit looks all grimy and battered, the cape is in tatters, etc. But when I load up in-game Batman and his suit are still squeaky clean. It seems like a bug. I'm playing on PS4.

So the performance drops are specific to batmobile sequences.

What percentage of the game requires the use of the batmobile?

traveling between areas it's mostly optional, it's just that for this moment you have to use it and a lot of stuff is going on around you, effects, vehicles, explosions and anything you crash into making particles.

for the first time in 70% of the game I have seen batman talk to his earpiece instead of webcam, about damn time he stopped wasting time.

Really not minding the batmobile stuff.

One thing (spoiler regarding progression and major story)
what do you need to do to get the Batmobile to the 3rd island? I've just finished mission where Oracle dies
I need it to progress side missions.

I'm having a blast playing this game. The batmobile parts aren't as fun as the rest of the game, but it's still really solid.

The Xbox One version runs pretty smooth. It clearly isn't 1080p, but it looks better than most of the 900p games I've played - maybe because the game is pretty dark.
