I went in expecting to be totally deflated but ended up liking it a lot. The reviews feel like hyperbolic nonsense now. It's not perfect and the extended cut will likely see it improve even more, but I thought that overall it provides an excellent starting point for the DC movie universe.

All of the criticisms of Man of Steel were largely addressed and I think that it's brave of Snyder and co to really shoot for such a dark, intense tone. It contrasts perfectly with what Marvel has been doing. I feel that history will judge this film much more kindly than a lot of the reviewers who are just piling on at this point.

I can't see how a 3 hour superheroes movie could be made better by an extended cut. have mercy! enough is enough.

Just watched it. The movie is soooo long. The last 1 hour had great action sequences. Ben Affleck was goat and Cavill was okay. Gadot had less screen time though :( Overall it's a good movie, definitely worth watching once.

To put it in perspective, He would not be allowed to watch The Dark Knight, would you say, this movie is even more intense in that sense?

I'd watch it by myself first, and then decide if it's for your son, rather than taking the advice of strangers. There's a reason it's PG-13.

Thank You. He and my 9 year old want to see it really bad, lol they are not going to be too happy when they learn IM going and they aren't.

He :) I know what you mean. I went to see The Good Dinosaur ahead of my daughter (she's 4) to see if it wasn't too dark (she got scared by the dark bits in Toy Story 3). It's just part of growing up, I guess.

Ah fuck yeah, we finally here brehs. It's time to eat

I'm a big DC fan boy but I mean come on. This was never going to beat Star Wars.

Maybe it's all a ploy by DC/WB. Have the critics slam the movie so the audience go in with low expectations. Those sneaky buggers.

Popped in here and am very surprised by the reactions. It seems that although it's not great, many people enjoyed it and would consider it a good movie with a few problems. Very excited to see it tomorrow. These last couple days was giving me the impression it is nearly unwatchable.

Quoting from my review in spoiler thread:

One thing i hated the most is the introduction of the other justice league
characters, it so bland and forgettable.it gives a bad taste in the mouth, along
the lines of ASM2 .

It's the least imaginative, most pointless way to introduce them.

Patchy is the word I'd use for it. Essentially it takes a very unnecessarily convoluted route to set up the central conflict, and I don't think it really needed to. In terms of film making even people who loved recognise (to varying degrees) the issues in the first half of the movie.

I didn't mind it, in fact I enjoyed to a point, I kind of want to see it again but I don't think I could sit through the first half again, if I could wander in for the 2nd half I'd be up for that.

I think, a movie like this, most people just want to see a fun action move, a good time in the theater. Perhaps why big action spectacles like Transformers do well in theaters, but get slammed by critics.

But the thing is even transformers have action sequence in about 15 minutes or so and have pacing. this movie's first half is , for general viewers , is pretty boring. except for the first few minutes

The reviews are a JOKE. It's like it's a dumb circle jerk of who says the most outlandish film. Flawed? Hell yeah. Badly edited? For sure. Confusing? yep. Good? No. But the antichrist? Hell no.

And the story was good, it tried to have a story at least. Fuck Snyder for botchering the editing, but it's not a disaster by any means. It's more flawed than MoS,but that's because it wants to do so, so so much more than such ambition is nothing short of commendable.

6/10. The Ultimate Cut, if legit good, could add 2.5 points, easily.

So the reviews are a joke, but your final score is less than a point higher than the RT average. :lol

Have you read their contents? They're calling it an anti-film or some bullshit like that.
The last thing this movie needs is to be any longer.
Disagree. It needs conclusive, flowing scenes. I didn't feel they were too long, I felt they were inconclusive which made them seen "uneccesary".

Have I read every single review on RT? No. But the consensus among most of them seems to agree with you that it's flawed, badly edited, confusing and not good.

No one called it the Antichrist (though I think one compared it to the movie Anti-Christ in terms of his personal unpleasant experience watching it), and the only one iirc that used the label "anti-film" was a dig at how scenes are cut in a way where they don't actually lead from one to the next -- which is typical of good editing, or at the least the kind of editing you'd expect from a movie.

In what universe is The Dark Knight Rises... shit?

In the universe that requires character being changed to benefit the "plot", forced conflict of something that is obviously one-sided, and bad art.

EDIT: Oh wait, Rises, I thought you meant Returns, which I was talking about.

Rises is just bad.

Honestly hated that movie, and rank that as one of my least favorite superhero movies. Not only a massive disappointment to me, but a plodding, boring mess.

And TDK is my 2nd favorite CMB of all time.

TDKR is a solid 8 for me a lot of problems but there's great shit in there too and I admire the vision behind it compared to other comic book movies that have been coming out

Other stuff:
Dofp 9
Iron Man 3 7.5
Cap 2 7.5
Guardians 7
Ant Man 6
Man of Steel 6
Age of Ultron 4 or 5

Worried this movie will likely end up sandwiched somewhere between ant man and age of ultron or even lower for me.
