I went in expecting to be totally deflated but ended up liking it a lot. The reviews feel like hyperbolic nonsense now. It's not perfect and the extended cut will likely see it improve even more, but I thought that overall it provides an excellent starting point for the DC movie universe.
All of the criticisms of Man of Steel were largely addressed and I think that it's brave of Snyder and co to really shoot for such a dark, intense tone. It contrasts perfectly with what Marvel has been doing. I feel that history will judge this film much more kindly than a lot of the reviewers who are just piling on at this point.
