So you want this movie to be immune from all criticism.

No, absolutely not. Please don't put words in my mouth.

There has been an overwhelming amount of criticism weighed against WB for "not allowing jokes" in their comic book movies, and the initial reaction here is peppered with many complaints about this trailer being too funny/silly/goofy.

That's funny to me.

The need to hate is strong with this one lol. I'm hyped as hell, can't wait for some WW kicking ass action.

I never understood this sentiment, why do people that dislike something get lumped into "nitpicky" or "need to hate"? I have gripes with this trailer and many thing surrounding this movie. It's not a need to hate nor being nitpicky, it's things I don't like. Doomsday looks "thin" and not very intimidating on top of him being created from Zod (indicated by the movie). It's a weak way to introduce the character and a bad design.

the fact that they let Wondy cap off the trailer saving the two male heroes is impressive as fuck tbh

Marvel would never

I don't really understand the eisenberg being eisenberg comments? Wtf. You guys seen a movie of his? Squid and the whale or I don't know. Social network?

Wonder Woman actually felt nicely introduced in the last trailer. Here she feels shoehorned. She'll be fine in the movie. Still don't get the complaints that her intro in this movie is too much.

yeah he's nothing like zuckerberg in this trailer.

wonder-woman shield shot was a nice surprise, kind of already sold on how cool she 'looks' at least. just dear god they didn't need to show so much. we got the entire structure of the film. 3 minute trailers...scust.

>_>

Don't do this.

Is it?

Anything involving her character is highly overrated. It's comical around these parts.

Doomsday is NOT some big spoiler. Please don't believe that. When Zod was shown in the first trailer is was the logical conclusion many made if you know anything DC.

I had no idea Doomsday was in the movie.

Zod to Doomsday is not a logical conclusion, because that has never been Doomsday's origin before.

I think Ben will be a decent Bats, character is in line with his acting range. Jessie gonna kill it. Gal looks flawless as WW. I take back my earlier doubts in regards to her.

Doomsday looks silly, especially turning Zod into him. Hopefully he's one and done in this, because that shit is stupid.

I'm happy the movie looks as I expected. I like the facade that Lex does in public, an eccentric genius while in private he is calculating and crazy. I like seeing the trinity together, something I honestly never thought would occur. It's great to live in a time like this

Real bummer they didn't go with Junkie XL and Zimmer's work to score the trailer... they were doing a fantastic job so far.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Yeah, that was the problem with the trailer. It started showing scenes that take place after the climactic battle between Superman and Batman, which is what all the tension between the two characters is building towards. I don't think it will be a problem in the final film, but for a three minute trailer, you can't just change tones on a dime like that.

I think that was the biggest problem with the trailer. We all know they're going to fight but end up joining forces to save the day. That's how all these team up things work. But this trailer builds this tension between Bruce and Clark and then immediately swerves to them working together and cracking jokes. It doesn't work, at all.

In the context of the movie it should be fine since there is probably a good 1+ hour between those moments. But it certainly doesn't work for a trailer.

I don't really have a problem with them showing third act stuff. Lots of movies do that. But you should probably base your marketing around that threat instead of trying to get us to go with this Batman VS Superman angle (the title of the film) and then trying to push things to Lex and Doomsday. They should have just used the Batman and Superman fight to market this, and saved the Act 3 stuff for the theater.

I have to say though, I love Batman's voice modulator. Much better and makes far more sense than previous Bat actors just adding some gravel to their voice. Kevin Conroy excluded of course.

Won't someone think of the parademons?!

Holy fuck. I know that's
still likely a nightmare sequence
but we live in a world where we have live action Parademons, Doomsday, & Wonder Woman on the big screen and Captain Cold and Gorilla City on the small screen.

What a time to be alive.

I'm thinking this was a trailer cut for Star Wars, that's why it looks so "family friendly" and Marvel like (exluiding the fantastic Civil War trailers of course)

Its confused about its tone. It would be akin to the second Civil War trailer building the fight between Cap and Tony up for the first minute and then revealing the big bad as they come together to set aside thier diffrences. Aka, an awful choice no matter the movie.

I don't see how it messes up the tone. Just because a the trailer shows they team up isn't crazy or shocking. They still fight and you don't even know if they'll really be the best of friends after they beat Doomsday. We really don't know anything other then they team up which was obvious from the start.

Also you know that's going to happen in Civil War. Something will happen that will make Cap and Tony put aside their differences. If they reveal it or not doesn't even matter. These movies are predictable to the core.

People don't care about all this craziness we're talking about. Nobody truly cares about the story. It just needs to be serviceable.

Interesting that when the Trinity lines up in the end, WB choose to put WW in the front. In the leader position and not Superman (like it usually is)... that's a very interesting and probably purposeful decision.

All marketing with the trio places her in the center. Unexpected and welcomed gesture.

That's funny to me.

That's the thing though, they finally do it and it just seems kinda wacky in comparison to everything else. Could turn out fine in the film, but for a franchise that's got such an "edge", going Jim Carrey's Riddler all of a sudden is kinda jarring. Doesn't really seem to fit with Snyder's tone, at least in the trailer.

It's probably because the jokes fell flat and don't really fit with the overall tone they've been marketing this movie with. The only good humor in the trailer was the Gotham City clowns barb and that was supposed to be a more sensible chuckle then laugh out loud moment.

Disney is going to let a WB DC trailer screen in front of their biggest movie of the year?

Don't they have some sway in what trailers are attached?

MMarston

Was getting caught part of your plan?
There were jokes in MoS. They were just bad and executed very poorly that people never noticed or remembered.

It's not even that.

The original teaser had me hyped (despite the fact it was Zack Snyder of all people) for a down-to-earth, character-centric, "human" Superman film. Some people would scoff at the idea that could just lead to another nitty-gritty-TDK Trilogy retread, but I think if the cards were played right, it could've led to something great without the need for a dark tone. I'm not sure how to explain the alternative product I'm thinking of, but right now, Gladiator is the closest thing I could think of as an example.

So seeing the complete 180 this iteration of Superman has taken from what that teaser heavily implied just feels weird to me now

Not feeling generic cgi monster #364 as the main danger that forces them to team up. Just yawn inducing watching a cgi scene like that these days.

Uh...that editing. So weird and totally unlike Snyder. I wonder if he's just trying something new or if the studio is pushing a certain direction.

Best I can say about it is that at least it doesn't look super depressing. Eisenberg seems to be giving it his all and he might be a really fun character as long as he doesn't clash too hard with the rest of the movie.

It's fascinating to see the weird persecution complex that has sprung up around this film. Like any criticism is invalid because they set their minds to hating it because it's DC.

There are legitimate criticisms to be made about these trailers. The editing is spotty, Eisenberg is going to take some getting used to... fair things to point out and take issue with do exist.

And there's 90% of the posts in this thread.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but... you know the saying, you're only paranoid if they're not really out to get you?

I gotta disagree. Not knowing what makes Tony and Cap set aside their differences in a trailer about them fighting matters.

So let me get this straight - the climax of a film called BATMAN VS SUPERMAN is not in fact going to be BATMAN VS SUPERMAN?

That seems like a colossal mistake

No the beginning of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is about Batman v Superman, and the end is about the dawn of the Justice League.

It's like right from the moment the movie was announced, some people just set their minds to hating it.

I love love batman, and belive me there is no one whi wants this movie more than me as its something I wanted to see on the big screen for a long time. But this trailer was not good, and that has me very concerned about the films wuality, especially when the last trailer was so good. Pros ben affeleck looks and sounds great as batman/bruce wayne. I like thst clark kent seems to have more personality. And hey what do you know, there is humor after all! Cons. Cgi needs some serious work, lex...lex buddy...what did they do to you. The trailer had a wildly inconsistent tone. And maybe, dont blow the doomsday load already. That reveal should have been saved for the film

you can't put a price on sparks
looks dumb to me. the first trailer was way better, now this one makes it look like a completely different movie

Holy Christ that trailer was really dragged down by that shitty music. Where is Hans man.

God. At least if I ignore the music, for the most part I liked what I saw. I have no problems with Doomsday there. These are comic book movies, if we don't get the wild and crazy shit, then what's the point.

Bring it on.

looks dumb to me. the first trailer was way better, now this one makes it look like a completely different movie

Looked dumb to me too, but I rewatched it on mute. Much better. I think its the shit dialog and music that gives that impression.

I was on board with this movie until Doomsday showed up at the end. That seriously sucked the hype right out of me. I feel like I know the whole movie now. Also I feel like Doomsday showed be use for when/if superman actually dies. Anyway not hyped anymore but still seeing this. Hope it's entertaining atleast.
