I- They say 'Justice League' in some unironic way, cut to sequels.

superman - we need a team name.

batman - how about 'just us league'? fuck those other guys.

wonder woman - yeah, fuck those other guys.

well not really...yet
the writing was great in the first minute I think, that was just a really fun exchange between all 3. I was smirking the whole time, god damn what a waste trailer after that party scene though. some cool shots in there but the music and editing was amateur hour. and doomsday sucks, please just fight him for like 7 minutes.

WB normally puts out such good trailers. Just this year alone we had some god tier marketing for Mad Max and Creed, not to mention the previous batman v superman teasers.
It definitely wasn't cut to Snyder's usual standards. Can definitely tell they wanted to fight back against the "its too dark" complaints.

Which frankly, fuck that, they need to double down on that shit, because it's one of the main and best things separating these movies from the marvel pile. Get dark, get dirty and get nasty. Go where Nolan himself didn't have the balls to. These movies are looking to have a spark of life in them thanks to that, versus the glossy yet inert sheen of the competition which screams safe for the whole family.

I'm talking about being shown why.

And no, Doomsday wasn't a forgone conclusion.

Does that matter? Even without Doomsday you know Lex is still the main bad guy. If you already know Batman and Superman are going to team up at the end how does Doomsday spoil that? Did you think they along with Wonder Woman were going to tag team Eisenberg?

I just watched the trailer again after stewing on it today. It really, really does appear to ruin the whole movie.

Here's what happens based on my view of the trailer:
- Superman gets positive / negative press after the last movie starting activism
- Backstory on 'old Batman' - dead Robin due to the Joker, grizzled veteran, etc
- Bruce Wayne comes to town and they 'coincidentally' meet. They don't get on (surprise!)
- Lex also happens to be around and meeting all our heroes because coincidence (similar to everyone in Xmen / Heroes always ending up being a mutant)
- Clashes in philosophy which tie back to hero fights - some small, some bigger
- Bigger fights means 'prep time' batman does his thing to even the odds
- Lex makes Doomsday using the dead Zod
- Supes and Batman team up to fight Doomsday but can't take him
- Wonderwoman shows up at a climactic moment to join the fight
- They win, everyone's happy.
- They say 'Justice League' in some unironic way, cut to sequels.

I know nothing about DC comics other than the odd game but damn that's a shitty way to ruin a 2 hour epic. Do people think I'm wrong or they just don't care?
I do. I loved the second trailer but this one almost completely deflated my hype.

It's like the complete movie has been put in a zip archive/compressed and then they made a trailer out of it.

Alright. At what point would they have shown too much, according to you? Or because of the vague synopsis of the events of the film would any kind of footage be ok?

Having recently seen The Man from UNCLE, I seriously can't understand why Henry Cavill seems so stale and boring as Superman. He had a lot more charme in Guy Ritchie's movie.

I have a few reasons... and it's probably a mixture of each of them:

1. Direction from Snyder/script... there was nothing to work with. He's more charming in this because maybe they made an effort to write that in. Nor did he really share the screen with many people.

2. We never really saw Clark Kent hiding his identity, we just saw stoic Superman the entire time.

Could easily be addressed... if they wanted to. Cavill has charm to burn, but it's just not on display in MoS.

I swear if they do something this dumb or say something as stupid as, "If we can't protect the Earth, we'll make damn sure we'll Avenge it"... Just stand there and say, we're the Justice League. That's it. There's no need to make it sound clever or ironic or funny. Just drop the name and roll credits (if we're forming a Justice League at the end)

"Well, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, you sure did save the day. You're totally out of our league, *heh*, you're like some kind of Justice League".

"Thanks, Obama. We'll take that name under consideration"

Giving away who wins the fight between Batman and Superman is a big one. From the looks of it there are at least 2 separate fights (one with and without Bat armor). We know nothing about the fight(s) except that they do fight. What is it that makes Batman think he can even fight Superman?

What causes Lex to go bald? Is he already bald? Is that lively persona his actual person or a public mask. Why is Superman kneeling before Lex in the last trailer? Parade mons tells us that desert sequence can't be a Batman nightmare so what the hell is that?

These to me are way more intriguing than telling me something I already knew.

Didn't Lex Luthor basically reveal this in the trailer when he said "If man can't kill God, then maybe the Devil will"?

Perhaps not. Batman could have stopped before killing Supes'. Maybe used Kryptonite but spared him, which Lex might not have expected.

Intrigue restored. Well made point, Icon.

My point was that the film itself will either earn that moment within its context, or not. If the film is that bad, you won't enjoy it. If the film is that good, you will. It being shown in a trailer is moot.

It's not a binary choice between enjoying everything completely or not at all. I have a preference. When that preference is not met, I would enjoy something less than if it is met, even if everything else is the greatest thing ever. That's all there is to it.

But the point of people's posts is 'this is bad because spoilers.' The Avengers trailer pulled the same 'team fighting? Meh. They join forces in the end.' Which made the first hour and a half pointless, because you knew where it was going. And my point is that in the end, it doesn't fucking matter, because we're not dealing with a mystery here or a thriller where we're trying to solve key questions (Who is Keyser Soze etc?.) It's a film about superheroes hitting stuff.

And it's doubly weird given it's been an open secret for months that Lex et al were going to experiment on Zod's corpse.

Personal opinion: what I consider "spoiler" is the obliteration of tension. In this kind of a movie, tension is the lingering question of "how" (as opposed to mystery, which is usually "who" or "what"). At the start, we saw two people with clashing views. Thus the question is born. Not "what", because we all know what would happen. They fight, they break up, they kiss, they make up, yadda-yadda-yadda. But rather, "how". "After all those glaring, how the heck are Batman and Superman going to make up?"

Then suddenly the trailer answered that question. It abruptly replaced the tension built through the entire first trailer and the 2/3 of the second one with "How would Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman beat Doomsday?"

The Avengers trailers never presented its tension in such a way. From the very beginning till the end, its "how" is a simple "How would the Avengers defeat the alien invasion?"

"So, how many people are in this 'League' of yours?"

"Just us"

The main difference between Bats vs Supes and Avengers isthat Avengers was the product of multiple movies building up towards a team assembled by Nick Fury for the sole purpose of having a weapon to strike if something otherworldly would strike us.
None of the trailers showed how they ultimately set their differences aside and fought as a team. That trigger was kept a secret until you saw the actual movie (or an asshole friend told you about it).

Maybe, JUSTmaybe, Snyder is pulling a fast one on us and Doomsday isn't what brings the Trinity together, but given his reputation, it's a pretty safe bet it is. Which is a shame, but seeing that movie, and the fight between Superman and Batman escalates further and further, and then BOOM DOOMSDAY BABY! would make the room lose it's collective mind. Now, it's looking like that scene where Hulk saves Tony; 'owh yeah, I saw this in the trailer, was pretty awesome.'.

That was such an oddly cut trailer. I gotta say, Eisenberg's Lex is growing on me though. I was put off by his demeanor at first but on repeated viewings, he seems like a pretty accurate representation of the character. Mad scientist CEO who has a huge superiority complex and grandiose ambitions, hiding his true nature under a friendly face while in public. All his lines are exactly the kind of things a self absorbed megalomaniac like him would say. That's exactly who he is. He's just not the older suave version we've come to know. I'm looking forward to his performance and I think he'll be one of the best parts of the film.

Those don't seem like coincidences. From the trailer, it's implied that Lex is the one who fuels the conflict and manipulates them both to fight each other. He puts on a facade to fool everyone about his schemes.

And no, I don't find anything outlandish or uninteresting there and knowing basic plot points doesn't ruin a movie for me.

And saying that, you can absolutely say they needed more time for the movie? You think the movie will be terrible? You and people like you need to see the film with everyone else begore you can say that. But I do understand thinking the trailer sucks.

Yes, they should have more time to look at the movie, to think and ask themselves honestly that if they should really continue with this.

The whole doomsday part with Wonder Woman showing up to me is the equivalent of "I'm always angry" in the Avengers, or at least it seems like it, and that part got me so excited in the cinema it would have been a real downer if they showed it in a trailer before that.

The title also has a subtitle called "dawn of justice" So... them joining forces is ALSO in the title...

Dawn of justice really says nothing about joining force. It can also be intepreted that this is where the league members first see each other, and nothing more. Probably just some cameo and minor appearances here and there. Its the subtitle after all.

Because some of us thought their fight were going to be the climax. Just like previous crossover vs movies, like Freddy vs Jason, Aliens vs Predator or King Kong vs Gozilla etc.

Yeah... I'm not really feeling it. Trailer gives away the entire plot, and Doomsday looks like generic CGI monster #42. I don't know, I think I'm losing interest in superhero movies :/

What if it's just Doomsday - Phase 1?

He looks like a LOTR cave troll, gets slapped around by Superman and Wonder Woman, then goes berserk, powers up and transforms into proper Doomsday?

Because surely Snyder wouldn't keep him looking like this, right? ...right?

Well yeah the rumour is
he'll grow bones in response to damage
. I don't know if that's how it went down in the comics, but it makes sense. He'll probably get a solid hit to the jaw

Good call on the remaining mysteries, Icon, because now I'm wondering if they'll kill Doomsday.

Well given Doomsday's inability to die I imagine the question is really how do they manage to stop him?

His whole backstory is, he's killed, he's brought back to life or he comes back to life, and he's resistant to whatever killed him before.

Lex is the biggest casting misfire I've seen in quite a while. Such a powerful character reduced to..that.

I said it before and I'll say it again this is wrong on so many levels. It's not a misfire. This is clearly what they wanted, this is the direction they choose to go with and Jesse is nailing that vision out of the park. It would be apt to say, I don't agree with the direction they are taking Luthor.

I like trailers like this, they save me a lot of time because they sum up the film so well i have no reason to watch it

although I'd be pissed if it was a film I cared about

yea i keep hoping we're all going to be proven wrong and he knocks it out of the park, but he just doesn't look right playing the role.

He reminds me of an evil Dr. Quintum for some reason. Goofy, weird and genius. Maybe that's the angle they are going for. Not Business Lex but Mad Scientist Lex. I'm fine with it. I assume at some point he at least gets the iconic baldie.

Not sure how I feel about this trailer. Watched it a few times over the last few days, and I feel like tonally it's all over the place, Doomsday is a very boring villain, and they've essentially solved the conflict they've been building up between Bats and Supes by showing that they'll team up to fight Doomsday which ruins the point of the other trailers where the conflict between these two was the focus.

But I am interested to see them team up on screen, and especially to get a proper look at Wonder Woman. She looks badass in this trailer, although it's a shame she doesn't get any lines.

Not convinced by the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor at all, but I'm willing to give him a chance.
