Batman vs Superman: World's Finest Three-Year Wait

I haven't. What does he say?

(never had the DVDs, haven't had a chance to hear a Bruce Timm commentary on anything

edit: that's not true, He did a commentary for Return of the Joker, right?)

It more or less consisted of "Uh... yeah, those buildings were totally empty during the fight... Yeah..." and some giggles. The only reason they added the empty development site line was to appease S&P (Standards and Practices), which Bruce Timm notoriously had to do ever since Batman: The Animated Series. The man loves his violence and nudity, and he had to argue for what little there was.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the commentary for the Superman/Doomsday movie?

Just checked the DVD set and there is no commentary for that episode,

Zack Snyder doesn't make cheap looking movies

Go to mahvel studios for the starz tv show look

Flash is required for justice league. Hopefully Wally West too. That was pretty much quicksilver in xmen and he was incredible

I hope the avengers one has some inventive setpiece too

Sorry I was mocking his "This will bomb" comment.

Green Lantern movie was a loooong time ago already. general movie going audiences do not have such long memories. it's a tired talking point that needs to be dropped already

It will be 6 years from Green Lantern to Justice League. Hulk and Spider-Man got rebooted after 5 years. Man of Steel was intended to be 6 years after Superman Returns. I don't see the old stinker GL movie affecting GL's place in Justice League. If there's a reason to bench GL, it's to lower the League size and save some characters for later. Large teams aren't a problem with efficient planning. Fast and Furious 6 dealt with its large team size by using pairs.

I could be remembering wrong. I just know the fact they had to add a line about there not being anyone in the new houses yet was totally an addition required by S&P. I think you're right though, wrong episode/movie.

It was six years. Not that long. And even if general audiences don't remember the GL movie (which I doubt), movie execs do. Sure characters like Hulk and Superman got to try again after similar amounts of time, but those are also bigger properties than Green Lantern with more proven success among mainstream audiences.

No one is saying that GL is definitely out, but if I'm a studio exec funding a $250 summer tentpole and I'm needing for characters to be cut from this thing so that it can work and make me a return on my investment, the one with the sub-genre's biggest bomb in recent years under his belt is the first to go.

Green Lantern can easily be one of the most visually interesting heroes on that team. I really doubt they're going to cut him outright.

Based on the Flash pilot, we are already going to get a great live action adaptation of Flash. We have yet to get a good live action version of Green Lantern.

We couldn't have gotten Casino Royale or Mask of Zorro Martin Campbell. Nope, that was too much to ask. Instead we got Legend of Zorro Martin Campbell :(

That movie was problematic at a core script level. The original script was apparently 'fine' until Warner freaked out and changed a bunch of shit.

Campbell made some bad decisions, I'm with you, but he's absolutely not the only person that failed that movie.

Maybe Campbell isn't comfortable with lots of CGI. Who knows. The scene where Hal gets beat up in the alley was well done in Campbell style, but the rest of the film was so stiff and bland. Such a shame.

I really want to read the original script to see how different it was. Because the people who wrote it are running Arrow, which is kicking ass from here to right over there.

Oh I'm certainly not placing the blame entirely on his shoulders, since as you said - the script had a lot of problems.

I'm just speculating based on what we know. Like I said, they could break tradition with an 8 member League, or Shazam really could be separate from the JLA movie.

We won't really have a clearer picture till the weekend, methinks.

I think I'm ok with The Rock playing Shazam. He seems like a more natural fit for Black Adam, but I can see how Shazam would work, too.

As for the Green Lantern vs Flash... I think they'd drop Flash, if only because he's in the TV show now. Audience confusion and all that. If we are getting one or the other and it's a Green Lantern, I kind of hope they go with Guy just for the chemistry he'd add into the mix.

But if they're really doing a Flash/Green Lantern team up movie in a few years, Hal seems like a better bet.

OR Aquaman will be leading his army against The Surface, and not a member of the League itself (until maybe the end).

You just had to post this right after I tried to be optimistic about Green Lantern's second chance ha. I agree that GL isn't on par with Hulk and Superman who've had success at one point in time. GL is cut first to stick with a seven member League. I'll settle for the rumored Flash and Green Lantern movie.

Come on man. You and I both know Darkseid is going to be the villain in this thing. Might as well get ready.

Very little about what we've heard about this movie has lined up with what I expected or what I assumed they would do. I don't know that they're going to be that obvious.

The Rock is playing Darkseid confirmed!

The word Rock wanted the interviewer to say is "Anti-Life."

Good point. But turning Aquaman into a villain doesn't lineup with most of their moves involving the character lately save Flashpoint.

I wouldn't be opposed to Darkseid not being the villain, though. I've always been partial to the idea of it being Brainiac or the white martians.

Sorry man, Snyder going for that classic reference. The villain's gonna be Starro

Oh I wish they had the balls to make the villain Starro. Sadly, mainstream audiences are cool enough to buy into a giant mind controlling starfish. :(
Starro will always be the bomb to me. Having him as the villain could have some cool effects. Superhero vs Superhero at first before they team up, stuff like that.

Brainiac's who I'm expecting. It's easy to connect Luthor in BvS to Brainiac in Justice League.

Let me just point out that this movie will be directed by Zack Snyder. Keep your hype in check, guys.

Yeah... I mean, I really want this to be good, but the more I hear, the less optimistic I become. Hopefully it knocks it out the park and blows me away instead, though!

Zack Snyder can make good movies from terrible scripts. Imagine him with a great script (which I have the confidence it's the case here).

My original pitch was The Centre, but I imagine that would go over as well as a lead balloon.

Starro could definitely be modernized as a more abstract lifeform. I imagine him having a small starfish core, with a bunch of tiny, vine-like tentacles that spread all over the world. Like the red weed from War of the Worlds.

Could make some cool visuals.

I hope they don't use Darkseid for Justice League. I would rather see the New Gods built up over multiple films (yeah, there's BvS, but how much of that can realistically fit in?), and besides, who can you have as the villain in Justice League 2 that wouldn't feel like a major comedown in threat level? The Anti-Monitor?

But then, the New 52 JL is undoubtedly going to be a major influence, so there's a pretty good chance they'll go in that direction regardless of what I think.

That's my beef with Darkseid as well, it introduces so many different concepts.

But who else do you realistically get as a first threat? I supported White Martians, but feel like would thread on Avengers with an alien threat of that nature. Though Darkseid/Thanos may also be a problem

Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp

Well I think a supervillain team-up for the second JL movie could be awesome, if done correctly. Build a potential supervillain team up during post-JL solo movies, and then have them face the JL in JL2.

Imagine Lex, Joker, Gorilla Grodd, Black Manta etc.. against the JL in a live-action movie. I would shit my pants.
