More at the link.
Looks just alright to me.

I FEAR THIS GAME. My love for the "Wars" series of games is equal to that of a dog+Fire-Hydrant, and I wish for this game NOT to suck in the WORST WAY.

PLEASE DO NOT SUCK.

GRASS ALERT!

This game looks pretty cool... It still kind of reminds me of Metal Slug the way the characters and vehicles look though. If SNK Playmore make that new 3D Metal Slug look as good as BW does, I'll be sold; And I'm normally against 2D games going 3D if it's not gonna be done well.

Cool.....considering the only console I own right now is a gamecube (oddly enough), I've kinda been hoping a game like this would come out for it. Never heard of it before (I think). I'll have to check it out.

I'm hoping it looks washed out because of poor captures. With the art style this game has, it should be brighter and more vivid.

I'm interested, but if I buy it I'm going to pretend it doesn't have a thing to do with the Advance Wars series.

P.S. If it isn't turn-based (which this isn't), it isn't a Wars game as far as I'm concerned.

Nintendo somehow always manage to convey "the fun" through screen shots.

this game can't some soon enough for my dusty cube.

I was very suspicious when I first saw this game in 2004, but it does seem to get better and better the more they show. This looks really good and I'll certainly be keepibg an eye on it.

Looks better than it did at E3 2004. I remember it controlling like Metroid Prime, which was a pain in the demo... Hopefully the controls have been overhauled.

This game has been 2nd on my list since E3 (after Colossus, before Zelda) .... It was just that much fun :)
If you're a fan of Metal Slug --- This plays as much as well as it reflects the style. The weight of the vehicles/characters was amazing.
Very fun, very shooter - just add some simple squad strategy and you have an impression of how it plays.

looking forward to it being polished and runnin' at 60fps ---- looking forward to the 6's and 7's it'll get in reviews to :lol

I like the look of it. It reminds me of Cannon Fodder.

It looks like Army Men to me. I really don't know why they didn't just make it the SRPG that everyone already loves, but approaching a Disgaea level of cutomization.

I'm glad it's not called Advance Wars now.

Was just about to say that. Looks kinda meh to me, but I can see the Metal Slug comparisons. Hopefully it's a fun game.

*goes back to play AWDS*

I agree with all the statements about being VERY skeptical about the game at E3 2004, but it looked much better at this year's, and is looking even better now than it did in May.

No multiplayer is an (almost) inexcusable exclusion, but I still might be picking it up.

There's no multiplayer? WTF?!?!? I thought you could even LAN the systems!

You BETTER BE FUCKING JOKING.

This is very good advice, people!

I'll be checking it out, but comparing this to Advance Wars is apples and oranges.

I hope that in terms of Gameplay, Fun and Addictiveness, that Battalion Wars is the next Herzog Zwei.

I donno if it'll ever reach that level of strategy --- all I know about the missions available, they're all pre-deployed and I haven't found anything out about resource management.

just fun shooting, and I'm fine wiht that :)

I remember the game looking a TON of fun at E3.

I only got to play it for a little bit and thought the control could use a little tightening... felt like I was controlling a funky Lara Croft at some point, just the way the little guy moved.

Fix that up a bit, and funland!

Nope, they couldn't get it to work "as well as they wanted" and it was unceremoniously dumped some months ago.

I guess some people missed the urgent memo of "If you were interested due to multiplayer, cease and desist wanting"

whats that xbox turn-based strategy game? similar to advance wars but realistic, modern day setting and more complicated? , im sure someone mentioned it here?

Oh well this game can kiss my ass then at release. I'll pick up for 20.

sold!

The game actually looks pretty good regardless of the bad quality capture. and people who played it at e3(this year) seemed to have liked it. so I probably will end up buying it as long as it turns out well.
