Battleborn |OT| Multiplayer Online Bad-Ass Shooter

I just think the game is fantastic fun. Some issues, and I dislike some of the choices and balancing but in many ways it reminds me of how much I enjoyed some of the core gameplay in destiny.

Weird seeing people are having MM problems on Xbone, i have been playing all day Incursion with no issues.

Fucking loving Oscar Mike. Almost have all his lore done, need a few thousand more rounds fired and one more match where someone picks Montana in my team.

Speaking of Montana, damn he was my guy in the beta but I can't stand him now. He's so goddamn big. He just soaks up bullets and if you don't have a good healer you're toast. Especially since his escape clips and hangs on EVERYTHING.

So how is the control mode? Never tried it. If anyone wants to team up on Xbone my GT is Cpt RonCodpeace

Not to familiar with reddit's forums but this guy claims to be a Gearbox dev

Some pvp/esport fans were asking how could Battleborn possibly be viable for serious competitive play with the presence of an RNG loot system:

A little late to the party, but these are all very good points. We definitely want to support the competitive scene with BB, and we're aware how RNG can impede that. That said, we're discussing a number of different options on how to tackle this. I think the e-sports community will be pleased with what we come up with. :)

Not holding my breath based on that vague wording nor will I part with my money on a purchase at this time

Unlocked Benedict yay! Was my favorite character in the beta's and pretty happy to have him again. Plus his golden skin looks pretty good.

This is at Redbox for anyone who is on the fence. I can't figure out what's going on it I think it's neat. I like the mushroom healer guy.

I'm liking it way more than I thought I would to be honest, but I do think unlocking some of the characters is harder than it should be :(

There's only 73 reviews, consider that you can buy metacritic user reviews very cheap these days.

Wait a few weeks for the user score to even out.

That's pretty cynical. I wouldn't discount the possibility that this game is unique and fun enough to garner a dedicated and vocal community behind it.

Same.

I really enjoyed my time with this yesterday, and now i too hate comparisons with Overwatch.

They are completely different games. The only thing in common between the two is that both are in First Person and both have different characters.

Yeah they aren't the same type of game at all, I think the FPS style and the fact they both are rocking 20+ character rosters really just makes it look like they are similar.

Apparently getting silver medals on story missions on Advanced for Ghalt do not count towards Kleese. So you have to run it on both difficulties.

I find in generally hard to get silver with a friend. The first few missions went well and now we're stuck at bronze._.

Coming out a bit disappointed with Overwatch (it's still fun, but the shooting is mostly meh), I also eyeballed this game as my Multiplayer shooter fix.

How does the shooting feel (compared to Overwatch, maybe)?
Can I play this alone with randoms in MP? Will it still be fun?

Worse "shooting" IMO, but neither game are shooters so much.. TTK in this is a lot higher so there's a lot of spray and pray, chasing enemies while they sponge up shots before they die. This is more of a coordinated, teamfight/skirmish style game. Less fast paced run and gun. You can't just pick a hero and go around the map killing enemies by yourself.

Are you actually saying overwatch isn't a shooter?

I'm just saying it's not much of one. It's not Counter Strike. Hell it's not even Call of Duty. Most of the heroes don't even use traditional weapons. There's an assault rifle guy, a shotgun guy, a rocket launcher girl... None of which feel particularly stellar by shooter standards (nor are they meant to). There's no spray patters, recoil, etc... Aside from those few examples, most of the heroes don't even have weaponry that behaves like any other game.

Once you unlock Phoebe you don't need others ;D

I tried out Battleborn Tap last night, mostly to get the golden Orendi costume as she's turned into my No.2 character behind Phoebe.

I just don't get it. You tap, you add more characters and upgrade to tap more, then you get to a point where it's too difficult to continue, then 'Prestige' and start again but slightly stronger. Then the tapping recommences.

I guess I'll use it as a time-waster if there's confirmed in-game rewards later on.

Yup, that's a basic idle clicker game. I don't get it, but it was probably a smart move to put it out. Out it this way, there's double the amount of people playing Clicker Heroes right now than Battleborn on Steam as crazy as that is. That app might be the gateway to get people into the main game.

Yes you can. I'm currently constantly doing the with Phoebe, flank the entire front line and try to cause chaos from behind so my team gets an opening.
Plus picking up lonely squishy people.

It you don't like the shooting in Overwatch, you're going to hate this. Unless they've changed a lot from the beta, the shooting and melee felt super unimpressive to me. Like straight out of a Bethesda game.

wow this game maybe a bomba judging by the lack of noise on this OT

Was thinking that also , my kid saved up to by either this or Overwatch. I think I'll tell him to get the latter to make sure he gets a game with a healthy population for a while to come (games are $80 here in Canuckland so that money is a lot for himlol).

Was also thinking this; repeat of Wildstar for me. I think Battleborn is a good game with a fun creative angle, with a few friends who bought it and also love it - but the population seems fairly small...

I still think this game population is not a problem. Replay value and progression in this game is awesome. People always have something to do or try to reach in this game.

Oh and the game is so fun!

Well that sounds bad :( Sad I missed the beta.

Got this playing the first story mission last night. Pretty pleased as I think it's one of the stronger legendaries out there.

Makes me wonder if any gear will be locked behind the DLC missions in the future.

No/Low Population = no game ?

I mean it's based entirely around multiplayer :| I want to give this game a shot, but not if the player numbers are low.

Also, where them reviews at though?

I think this really needs/needed a checkpoint system where you can restart during a match (not because of you dying). Only played a handful of the story missions last night, finished none. Very, very annoying to fail a mission because your escort got destroyed, have to go all the way out of the game, score screen, back to main menu, re-queue for another, wait, vote on map, wait, pick character, wait (because there's always one who doesn't lock in), then wait some more, and finally back into a game. Why the hell can't you just restart at your last checkpoint? Make it use a team life if you have to. Makes me not want to play it because of that reason, and I hate that because I love the gameplay.

There is no problem with finding games at all.

You guys are creating the problem you are fearing :D

Was looking at this game when I was out on my lunch break earlier. Looking at the back of the box, I seen there's some form of local play, but was wondering if anyone here could give details of what it's like? Can you play the campaign cooperative via split screen?

Having a blast with this Game, don't know why the player numbers are so low. :(

It's not a bad game, give it a try and you will love it

Yeah, you can play through the campaign couch co-op/Split screen.

You can play with a Mix of a Couch Co-Op partner, and and with online friends / randoms.

Not that the Co-Op Partner also has to beat the prologue chapter solo, to get the first unlocks.

Past that, they're a full account, with their own unlocks, progress, money, loot, and everything.

Picked this up to play until OW comes out and I will see if it holds me attention! Can you jump straight into PVP or is it best to do PVE?

Once you do the Prologue, you can just jump straight into PVP. Some characters are easier to unlock via the Story mode, but all of them can be unlocked in PVP-only if you've got the patience.

So I'm guessing with all this stuff you can unlock some matches could be heavily one-sided if the matchmaking doesn't work correctly?
