any word if they will improve the speed of matchmaking and the general amount of waiting around. Its like 70 seconds even when everyone has chose a character
Was gonna look into this for its single player and / or vs bots content
But I heard this game has an always online drm kind of connection requirement (ala need for speed , hitman, etc)
And wanted to know if that's true? I'm not interested if so

That means not everyone has picked though: The countdown is reduced when that happens.
As for lack of maps, for Incursion and Meltdown that I not so much of an issue: This is a MOBA.
Most people dont know that then or they are just trolling because I swear its always at least 70 seconds each bloody character pick. drives me mad!
It needs the internet to even get past the pre-menu splash screen as far as I'm aware. I got the game early on the Saturday before launch, and literally couldn't do a thing as the servers weren't up. I couldn't even get to the main menu.
I picked this up last night, cool so far.
Quick question, how much moba stuff is in it rules wise? Like is last hitting a thing, soaking exp in a lane, stuff like that?
That's some good info. Makes me very hopeful for this game's future. For now.A streamer was interviewing the creative director of the game in like, the middle of the night last night; not sure why, but he was giving a lot of good info.
They are still refining their matchmaking procedures so you get GOOD matches (you have an ELO score behind the scenes), faster. Even if you come up against a team of 5, you should all have roughly the same ELO score
Apparently the game is more popular on consoles than PC.
The guys at Riot (LoL) and HiRez (Smite) love the game, and gave them some advice on balancing.
New characters will start showing up in weeks, not months.
They have new maps being played internally for all modes, so 3 new maps.
They have new modes being prototyped and played internally, including one that should be ready "soon"
There will be an advanced mission matchmaking mode available soon.
That is about all I can remember off the top of my head, I was watching it and fell asleep!

So I should get matched up with people whom also like Wild West Hero and Don't Bring Me Down, instead of people who think Mr Blue Sky is the be-all and end-all of ELO's output?

That's surprising. Was thinking of grabbing it on Steam this week, possibly tonight. But maybe I should go for PSN? I loved playing it on my PS4.. But after finding out I'm enjoying Overwatch more on PC than PS4, I thought the same thing would happen for Battleborn.
Is the difference in community that much that I should consider one over the other?
More info with the interview with Jythri from twitch yesterday.
Thank god at the Galilea nerfs, her being able to sprint and attack is busted. Glad Desecrate is going to be dealt with, shit is so dumb.
(they're adding a FOV slider to the consoles that PC already has, because people wanted it)
I'm really enjoying it as well, but do hope they patch in some things like:
1. Ability to switch characters at spawn point after death. This is a huge need. It's great in Overwatch as you can switch when your regular pick just isn't working against a specific teams strategy. Also makes it a lot easier to learn multiple characters.
That's just not how mobas work...
Been enjoying it so far, the FPS twist is a great way to be more involved in the action in a MOBA. Tactics and strategy wise it's tedious though, hard to keep track of everyone around you...
4. Shorten the PVP game times. Stuff like capture going to 1000 just goes way too long in competitive matches. 500 would be plenty.
You are leveling your character not sure how switching heroes could work. Overwatch is completely different in taht regard.
Eh, longer PVP matches are one of the reasons I like Battleborn.
Well, you can't please everyone. I figure I'll probably mostly just play this for the PVE with friends anyway, and grab Overwatch when it's cheaper and/or there's more content as I like the PVP better their with the shorter matches and ability to switch characters.
I would assume it would be a mistake to play this to get an Overwatch fix >.<
The fact that this has more of a narrative and story does have me very intrigued however...

Don't see why matches should be any shorter, they vary between 10 and 25 minutes, that's a good length imo.
As for changing characters, no thanks. You invest in the character, you adjust, you think up new combinations. That's one of the things I really like about MOBAs. Overwatch is a very different beast, for good and ill. The MOBA stuff is front and centre here, and aping Overwatch seems utterly counter-productive: it's not going to attract people by trying to be more like its apparent chief competition to the point of changing fundamental systems. Irrespective of your view, it'd be hell to engineer and rebalance
- I'm actually often surprised at how effective 1 character sneaking into a base and taking out guns can be. It does take me back to the time of MNC, where bots were the ONLY way to actually bring down the moneyball's shield, which fostered the lane play as the focus, rather than something that could be ignored. I also wonder if there should be bullet shields that prevent sniping from certain ranges. The fact a person can stay outside of the range of base defense guns, and get free-reign to snipe at your sentry is a bit off.
Argh. Just had a horrendous failure on 'The Archive'. Got to the minion-escort bit and my two other team-mates obviously had no idea what they needed to do.
I couldn't tell them on the mic due to the language barrier. I tried using the marker on the bots as they were moving along to point out they were important, to no avail. The same for keeping myself walking in the group of bots.
All they continued to do was keep fighting the endless hordes of enemies and eventually get overwhelmed.
