It uses an... interesting style.
This is actually really, really good.

I kind of just wrote it off as this loldudebro shooter moba esq shooter but all the positive feedback has got me really, really interested in picking it up especially since i have nothing to play till Overwatch comes out at the end of the month. I mean, yeah.. Uncharted next week but that will be crushed in 2-3 days.

strange, i guess i am the few that got in after a 5 minute wait of continuous error messages. ..... WOOO

I got one term agreement, then it timed out on me.

I had no problem earlier while on Proxy to London, but now that I am on my own IP shit is not working.

edit: Alright all connected now.

Yeah, lots of "Player Initialization Failed". Got all the way into the menu once and got kicked.

Edit: Just got into the prologue.

Not sure how I feel about a game's major selling point being the number and variety of characters, but forcing you to play as a certain one during the prologue.

Also the lobby creating and timed silliness is ridiculous when playing solo. Like, what's the point?

Edit: intro animation is LIT, I gotta say

I never even got to try melka in demo so I didn't mind being forced to play her in prologue. Prologue is like 15-20 min. tops.

i am playing it but for weeks people have been trying to discourage other from playing this game. It's like youtube comments section in a manner of speaking.

Gotta wait to pick mine up from a STORE, those old things. I look forward to having fun with it again, been missing it since the Beta.

Once again, Split-screen is the deciding factor. YAY for splitscreen online and off, through all modes!

Doesn't sound too bad. Makes it easier to record some character voicework and direction, and get an actual focused bit story telling and delivery.

I'm glad to hear it's not Oscar Mike, but someone totally online your usual protags. All these "Review in Progress" vids play the most Shooter-Normal character they POSSIBLY can, and that's kinda sad for a game with so much other variety.

For me, the first thing I wanted to do was toss magic spells about with Orendi, heh heh. I'll never understand how shooting bullets is more fun than summoning columns of energy that explode towards the sky. One I can do something like, or see done, all the time, by real people. The other I'll never have an ability to do, unless science REALLY surprises me one day.

For anyone that cares about 4K, I played through the prologue and it ran flawless fully maxed (with anti-aliasing off) at 60fps and I think I only saw it drop to 58 once or twice. I'm using 2 GPUs but didn't check if it was utilizing SLI or not.

Man this OT is kinda dead for this "big" of a release for Gearbox.

Word of mouth is a powerful tool; Everyone's been calling it 'The Overwatch' clone.
This combined with the Ahole that is their CEO I hardly want to give that company any money and I have a feeling we got a few people with that feeling as well.

Oh also Blizzard released the beta hype on the same day probably didn't help at all.

Did the prologue and played a single player match, had fun, but I kinda wish all the characters were unlocked from the start. Getting them is a bit random/tedious and seeing the same team online is silly.

I'm just nit pickingn, though. Game is good, like really something there the way it is all layed out. A ton of replayablity and definitely a good start toward more content in the future.

I will post more thoughts after playing again tomorrow.

See you online, Battleborn!

I really wonder how this is going to sell. Especially considering Gearbox said this is the their biggest budget for a game ever.

Played prologue, really like art style and characters. Abilities look pretty cool.

Runs really well too on ultra 1080p 60fps. Needs better AA though.

Looking forward to getting home tonight to play more.

You can always check steam for concurrent players and peak and make assumptions from that + follow player count and see how the community keeps up over the next few days.

I honestly expect it to drop a bit more at 5th nut it'll probably take itself back up after a few days.
Will be interesting to follow.

I really know nothing about this game but I got a code for free and I might as well give a whirl. I'm going to play alone and I remember Randy saying you can play alone so gonna be giving that a shot later today. Hopefully I like it.

Playing alone is fine but I'd at least try to get some GAF people (or others) for the Co-op (It's way more fun that way).
The MP modes are, as in every other game, heavily dependend on the other team members.

not gonna lie, I wanna like this game and I am open to buying it but I am really confused on how to actually play it

It plays like a first-person shooter, with two basic attacks mapped to (In my case on PS4) L2/R2 and three special abilities mapped to L1, R1 and Triangle.

As you play, you get experience points to level up your character during the match and unlock boosts for your powers and at Level 5, gain your Ultimate Power.

Of the three multiplayer modes, Capture is the most conventional. Attack and hold scoring markers around the level to win.

Meltdown involves escorting groups of NPC robots to a destination for points, whilst simultaneously trying to destroy the enemy team's robots.

Incursion is about pressing the battle-lines forward to destroy two targets in the enemy base.

My local game store had figurine pre-order bonuses for Battleborn today.

I got Thorn.

Game is great so far. Having a lot of fun using characters I didn't get a chance to play with in the beta.

There was a server hiccup right at launch, but otherwise it's been pretty smooth sailing.

(Hey, competitive players -- shoot the damn enemy minions!)

I just got through the campaign; I beat the eighth mission. I've got some thoughts that I'd like to put into words.

The campaign is pretty disappointing. Like...it's fine; it's serviceable, but there's hardly any "story" to this campaign. Anybody remember this story trailer? None of the cutscenes in this trailer appear during the campaign. I don't know if Borderlands had similar trailers prior to it's releases, but there's hardly any story in this campaign. There's also hardly any dialogue from the characters that you play as, "battle chatter" notwithstanding. There's a lot of chatter from mission control, but your characters have nothing to say about the situations they're put in during the campaign. There's very little buildup between missions, story beats just sort of happen. There's no impact to anything. It feels like this campaign was supposed to be much bigger than it is, and that disappoints me.

Now, I know that this game is not built around the campaign. It's built around the multiplayer. That's fine, but the campaign just seems like such an afterthought after having beaten it. I don't know, I still really enjoy this game, but the campaign disappoints me. Maybe the DLC missions from the season pass will really improve upon it.

Anyone get the season pass through bestbuy? I just got a code from them but it's telling me it's invalid. Wondering if anyone else got the same result. (If so, I'm guess I have to wait til the store update to get it. If not though, I'm calling CS tomorrow. :\ )

Any UK Xbox folk in here playing or planning to get the game? Give me an add on 'Lucifonz' and feel free to invite me whenever I'm online!

I don't know anyone else who's bought the game, but what I've played so far I've been really enjoying it. Far far more than I expected to - it just started to click after a couple of matches.

From what I gathered it's pretty much a glorified tutorial to cater for a current gaming world where people sh** all over MP only retail games. I don't think it's the focus of the game at all, or where the balance is.

I was going to give it a try but I just saw the steamstats for the game, something like 8k peak... I got bit by Battlefront on PC with this same problem and now I'm paranoid about player base.

TBH if you're all into sales numbers etc. I'd wait until Overwatch beta is over.

Not really sales numbers per se, mostly about player base, it's kinda psychological St this point.

Why not have fun and become a part of it instead of having fear?

It's not like you can't play Battlefront today anymore for example.

That is quite true too.

On 5th OW goes full open beta so expect it to drop more, the question what the uptake is after.
I may wait to get it or dive right in, I've tried overwatch and it's really really fun but I don't have much sense of progress there.

Battleborn has loot right?

Am I reading this right in that there's no 4K support?

Also the hero skins are severely lacking, if you compare this to Overwatch.
Intro was pretty cool and gameplay is serviceable. Might get more engaging later in coop. Did one incursion round and we got absolutely destroyed 0-100. Feels like melee characters do really heavy damage and once they get in close it's hard to know what the fuck is going on with all the flashy stuff on screen.

Playing as Oscar Mike and I guess it's my regular style of gameplay.

EDIT : Also there's a serious lack of ambient music while playing.
