With heat seekers, yes. With laser guided weapons, no. But yeah, it kind of sucks how it's pretty much impossible to kill anything with the Stinger/IGLA. Don't know what they should do about it though. Removing one set of flares I think would be too harsh. Maybe force pilots to hover over the helipad now and then to restock flares.

Yeah, I have to admit that there are a couple of posters here who just make me roll my eyes when I hear their vitriolic posts day in, day out. But I think you'll find that they're a tiny minority, they just post a disproportionate amount. I've played with some GAF guys who are not only brilliant players but also very patient and helpful.
Anyone who would yell at a squadmate, send them hatemail, or abuse them on GAF is a wanker; if you come across anyone like that then the problem is them, not you.
I'd say you should at least give playing with GAF a go. If you find that you don't enjoy the experience then just look elsewhere. There are non-elitist clans around. Mine has no skill level requirement whatsoever, and we get a mix of very good and very new players, but on the whole everyone gets along really well regardless of skill level so it's just a matter of finding the right group to play with.
Play The Fucking Objective.
If you're playing conquest, capture some flags. If you're assault or support, throw some fucking heals, share some fucking ammo. If you're recon, do overwatch, support your team with snipes or MAV. Use the goddamn squad beacon. Do more than just kill and die.
If you're playing Rush, fucking rush the box, or defend. If you do that, anyone who yells at you is an asshole and you have permission to ignore them.* Don't just hang back and do your own little private deathmatch, or try to get a 2/1 kill ratio or rack up new guns.
And, I don't know what you mean about unfriendliness here. I've asked plenty of questions and have gotten answers. I've been ignored too, but it happens. I've only ever played with a few gaffers on one of the gaf servers anyway, so don't take anything personally. Play with your teammates, support them, and you'll learn the game.
*unless you happen to crash your chopper full of dudes into the ground

Play on PC. I personally am not elitist or condescending (lol I like to refer to SOFLAM in my mind as 'that lock-on thing that sounds like breakfast') and I am always looking to play for fun. I havent had anyone treat me like shit yet and I'm really surprised that you get a feeling of 'elite douchebags' from what you've read. I see it more as 'snarkiness.'
If you have the PC version and would like help getting better, I'd be glad to aid you in levelling up and learning good tactics.
(Hint: Be a medic assault. Revive a lot. Heal a lot. Learn the maps well and learn how to position yourself properly for attack. I am skilled at finding weak points in the enemy's positions and slaughtering 3-4 guys in an instant while also enabling my squad to push forward and get the upper hand). You too can learn the right way to get the upper hand with practice and some experience.

Prefer assault recon with a smg or shotgun rolling with a squad. Arrive at enemy flag with squad, plant down T-UGS, cap flag and place spawn beacon nearby.

A couple friends and I did this once on Kharg, right about the army base checkpoint. After about 5 minutes of it we had what seemed like the entire enemy team breathing down our necks lol.

This is why DICE really needs to add a theater mode. To capture this shit that is fucking ridiculous. I hope 6 choppers isn't anything other than this public "custom" game mode's feature. Because if this shit is just as prevalent in the IW-made playlists, CoD is dead.
Also: Totally not trolling. But seriously: If you say "we'll see," and get peoples hope up DICE... you should be prepared to deliver.

I'm not even sure what this post is about or what meaning those screens have. Then again, I haven't played MW3 yet.

How is this not being discussed more extensively here? How are these hackers choosing users to screw over? Should I avoid going online ATM?
I hate Punkbuster. I had to stop playing BF2142 because a PB update went to war with my graphics card, or motherboard or something. 2 weeks of re-installations, updates and downgrades didn't fix the issue. Ended up ragequitting the game because non-PB servers were full of...punks.
Is this a big deal?
Sort of like the night snowmobile chapter in Medal of Honor. Would buy that expansion in a heartbeat.

EDIT: just to add to this, closing firefox seems to help a lot with the stuttering, although it still occurs infrequently. Is that a ram or CPU issue? Although would the new beta drivers help at all?

I briefly played that expansion for BF2 but it didn't work that well, I thought.
If they implement in-game VOIP and maybe limit spec ops 'missions' to 16 vs. 16, they could be the pinnacle of teamwork. Imagine 4 squads of 4 having to infiltrate a military compound and stop the launch of a nuclear warhead while 16 terrorists defend it. Checkpoints that can only be passed with coordination, a time limit, awesome new tools like grapples, etc. Could be great fun.
That would be cool. So would the main game if people played with teamwork. Unfortunately most people only know how to run and gun. I would only play a game mode like that if it were 6v6 cause that's the max amount of gaffers that are usually on and have voice chat.
AHH! What a shit show this game is on the PS3 now. It's always putting me on the team full of mentally challenged players that have all gotten fed up with CoD and migrated to Battlefield... Even when i'm playing with a couple of friends and go all "try hard" there is always 4 or 5 players going insanely negative with not even 1k points.
Really wish the quick match would search according to ranks or something because getting matched with a whole team not even over rank 20 is brutal.

I'd also like to thank DICE for giving the support class the ability to get infinite claymores and mortars. For the players that can't aim, incentive to not move at all is always good!

I fell in love with the F35 tonight. It's is awesome if you aren't against an expert pilot. You can still get 7.5Gs pretty consistently if you manage your speed and build up momentum. The pipper works awesome in dogfighting once you learn the range falloff.
Plus hover mode is great for Rocket Pod salvos or ATGM followed by a burst of gunfire. That combo will take out any tank and choppers don't stand a chance. SOFLAM can be a problem if you get caught off guard while going for a strafing run.

I think they're quality content well worth the price. None of the maps are amazing but I wouldn't say either is straight up bad either. Wake Island is probably the worst of the bunch but it's pretty cool how well it actually plays considering the layout. My personal favourite is Sharqi Peninsula (loved it in BF2). Haven't really played around with new weapons other than the FAMAS which I guess is cool. Didn't care much for the "assignments" required to unlock them. Forcing one to play SQDM to unlock weapons is a pretty disgusting design decision and someone at DICE should get slapped for that one.

RAM issue. BF3 uses a lot of system RAM and so does Windows. Having Firefox open would increase stuttering if you're getting near/over total RAM available.

Most pilots suck. I've only seen a handful that can even maintain 300 knots in a turn. But I've got over 60 hours in jets and been flying since BF1942 so maybe it's a bit easier for me.

I want to play on your servers. I always have to fly against obuttersticko, pennybagz or splinter.
And 60 hours..... you need to get on the ground.
I've got 225 hours playtime.
60 hours in jets
12 hours in choppers
20 hours in Armor
Which leaves ~125 hours as infantry.

I've been grinding a lot of 64p Metro recently. Don't know why, I guess I'm feed up with conquest for the moment. It's great for trying out new weapons though. I've been playing around with the PDWs a bit and I've come to like the MP7 a lot. It's damn neat with an extended mag on.
