It's not "Easy to Learn - Difficult to Master" anymore.
Now it's just "Easy to Learn - Easy to Master"

I left this game for 2 months and when I hopped back in, I didnt have to relearn anything or warm up or anything like that. Felt like I never stopped playing.

The game is just too easy.

I did something similar a month or so back, same result.

If you want a challenge then try getting people in the public servers to play as a team.

I usually don't have problems with that because I play with a squad full of friends, but otherwise I'd rather go into a coma than try to get the cretins to play as a team.

1800-2000 is largely considered the FPS gaming sweetspot.

Go into your in-game settings and make sure your in-game sensitivity is set low. If that's set to high then your mouse settings are useless.

Also check your mouse settings through your PC's control panel. Make sure the pointer speed is set to 5 or 6 (I think it's out of 11... If so, choose 6).

Where can I find current numbers (or relatively current) for the population of BF3 on each of the three platforms?

Anyone who does this is a douche who deserves to die.

But otherwise, I don't really agree with the whole Hardcore is easy theme. Easier to kill mugs but I consider that to be more realistic than easy. You catch a round from a heavy machine gun in the torso, you generally aren't going to be limping away from anything. It forces people to stick to the shadows and to corners and to actually prone crawl under cover and think about your movements instead of running out in the open and strafe dodging when your screen flashes.

So much camping in HC, which is natural. If you die all the time by just peeking your head out the natural reaction is to be more cautious and careful = campy gameplay.

And let's not talk about the sniper trolls with suppressors.

I was watching a youtube video about hard braking on jets and the guys used a settings editor (in case, the realmware one). I know that probably the editor is only changing stuff that you could change yourself, but is there any risk of ban?
 
I don't have much interest in HC simply because it rarely jives with the way the game was designed to be played, in terms of balance, and there always seems to be one gun that becomes the SUPER GUN in HC because of reduce health/increase damage. Harder to balance penalties.

As for the "realism" pov...there are games that do war-sim much better than BF3, so I play those when I need my fix.

Played HC in BC2 90% of the time, but don't really like it in BF3. 2D spotting and minimap sucks.

Ready for a big balance/buff. Too many cheap kills with Frags, Mobile AA and such.
Need some new maps too, Karkand just didn't cut it. I guess I was expecting the orginal glory of Karkand and the small version we got on PS3 just sucks.

I played around with hard brakes for a little bit, and didn't really like it. It really doesn't seem to offer that much of an advantage, as you make yourself very vulnerable / unmaneuverable by slowing down below 250. I use that settings editor as well as FXAA, and haven't gotten kicked by PB yet.

I think it expands to the amount of people are in the server?
Cuz it will be like 4 player max sometimes when I jump into it to mess around with air stuff.

Are you in the UK? If so, this might have something to do with the hack that took place a while ago. I just checked and everything is fine for me.
I'm from The Netherlands. Other people I know don't seem to have the problem even those living here too.
I tweeted about it to @Battlefield but I only got the usual "Thanks for the feedback, we're looking into it" response.

I really dont understand why they didnt balance HC mode separately if they insisted on lowering the health to 60%. They should have included a HC mode w/ 100% health.

I agree. HC completely screws up the balance of weapons in the game. Same thing in MW as well. It makes weapons like LMGs and Bolt Action Snipers worthless since a round from an SMG does similar DPS while having better reload speed and recoil.

I think HC would be fine keeping 100% health but eliminating regen and increasing supression. Couple that with no killcam, spawn in leader only, no 3D spotting and no 3D vehicle cameras and it would be a nice balanced game where it does not feel like everyone is running around with a golden gun.

I was reading a thread on the official forum and there were a few interesting HC suggestions: don't allow repairs on helis from passengers, increase vehicle spawn timers, increase soflam range, decrease resupply rate for special weapons (soflam, mines, rockets...). Some sound interesting.

Could easily do all those settings within our server. The problem is that changing so many settings like that will usually disqualify it from being Quickmatchable...which wouldn't be a problem, if more gaffers played.

zh1nt0 claims that Feb was never the target date/it was a misunderstanding, so March is likely. No idea about that DLC.

An EA guy said that they have something to announce but they don't want to take the public attention away from "other EA products" (aka Mass Effect). So yeah, I guess we'll hear more after March 6th.

The patch sounds great. There needs to be a bit more variety from the usual foregrip+supressor combo. It's getting stale.

There needs to be more variety than the FAMAS + Flashlight as well. But alas, DICE are morons that play like gentlemen instead of trolling each other so we wouldn't have to be waiting two months for their fixes that should've been there launch day.

Also stuff that shouldn't have been there at all in addition to features that the competition has and the community demanded more than "LOL SPECTATOR MODE LOL."

I'm almost sure some of those things were in the patch notes for some previous patch. Such as:

-Increased the spawn protection time from 1sec to 2sec. The protection will still be immediately canceled as soon as the player moves or shoots.
-Spawn protection will no longer be canceled by the player looking around.

-Unguided tank rounds and RPGs will now instantly destroy Jets, Attack Helicopters, and Scout Helicopters.

-Fixed a problem when locking on to two nearby targets, the locking should no longer jump rapidly between multiple targets. This applies to all locking weapons and Laser Designators.

And probably others as well. Weird...

-Added Horns to all Jeeps.

Thank God for:

-Players will no longer auto enter SOFLAM, MAV, and EOD bots after they are deployed.

Unfortunately nothing about SOFLAM scoring being fixed.

Not sure how I feel about:

-C4 will no longer be detonable after a player respawns, if the player is revived within 5 seconds he can still detonate his C4.
-Claymores now live up to 5 seconds after a player dies, the player can have a max 2 claymores planted at the same time.

I can understand the C4 change but it's gonna make playing C4 less fun. No more elaborate birgirpall setups. The claymore change I don't like at all. It's not like claymores needed a nerf i conquest.
 
yeah, the 2 measly claymores you can plant should stay until the game ends or you plant more. them lasting thru death made them a strategical asset instead of something you just put behind you when you camp out.

Yep, they'll be going the way of the AT mines: No one currs.

I'm still waiting for them to reverse that AT mine on death decision. I know they don't want thousands of mines like the bug at launch, but damn it mines staying after death made them useful for defense.

they did are. that's in the patch notes.

-The player may now have a maximum number of mines which will persist after the player's death. Deploying more than the maximum of 6 mines will remove a previous mine from the world.

That is a great way to work with mines. As you can place them then on death spawn as another class and play on, then sometimes you get a nice "vehicle destroyed" popup so you know its time to lay down more.

The suppression thing is bullshit. A support dude was emptying his 100 bullet clip on me while I aimed and shot straight for his head about three times. Apparently the bullet wont hit only because you're suppressed even though your aiming is dead on. Range between him and me was about 80 feet. Plus he wasn't moving..



Overall the update list seems spot on. I'm very satisfied with it right now, we'll see how it plays out when applied.
 
Ugh at the C4 change. One of the best feelings is detonating the C4 - that you just placed on a tank that had killed you - right after you respawn.

Surpression is awesome. I'm actually happy they're adding more surpression as it adds another tactical level to the game. I want to see MG's spraying a building to suppress the enemy as your team advances on it.

I wonder what they mean about making AA missles "harder to dodge." I have my 100% failsafe top-sekrit method of avoiding AA, I just hope they don't really adjust that.

Good, but the same thing should be implemented for buggies, jeeps and other non-armored light vehicles.
I want to see that shit fly over my head when I put an RPG into it as it's speeding towards me like it did in BC2.
It's just retarded to hit a buggy on Wake Island with a tank shell for instance, only to have it disable and give the guys inside plenty of time to bail or retaliate.

SCAR-H: Increased damage at maximum range and increased max range. The SCAR-H fires a heavier round than all other carbines, giving it better stopping power at range at the cost of a low fire rate that penalizes it in CQB.

Make up your damn mind DICE! :-/
