Battlefield 6 Beta |OT| Open Beta/Closed Weapons.

So after reaching lvl 15, heres a few thoughts

matching making is horrific, have to quit every game, because it never brings all the party with you

the hit reg is very wonky, basic you die constantly in 1 frame, but enemies are basically sponges, i can hit 7-8 times at sub 30m and they can instantly 1 bang me. this is how it is 80% of the time for me

ive had a few games where it feel legit, but atm its frustrating as fuck

ive even had kills where it tells me i got hit 5 times at 15 damage.....well 15x5 is 75........my health was full at 100......so the math dont math

i like the gunplay overall, but with allt he above its hard to find a gun i like to play with since see above lol

be interesting to see the patch for the weekend, since this is an older build

There are videos out there showing what to change all your settings to, i used WhosImmortal and my experience definitely improved... i dont know why default settings are such ass in this game???

*Also, some sort of menu glitch happening even if i completely reboot the game and i have NO idea what game mode i am loading into haha

This is exactly how I feel. The only way I can describe it, is being inconsistent.

The most frustrating thing is dying behind cover. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope this stuff gets ironed out later.

Being an adult with little to no time sucks.
Right there with you. Might have to miss the beta entirely due to work—
fuck-ned.gif

Keep the impressions rolling this weekend, boys. Is it too early to say it? Battlefield is so back.

Well few hours with the beta now.

These maps aren't just small, they're dog shit. Most of the buildings can't be entered which I thought was the point of tighter maps. This means most of the fighting is done down long streets / alleyways. Destruction is a joke with most of the destructible elements of the levels feeling heavily scripted. I've also had way too many experiences where I climb up into invisible walls. Balance seems to have not even been considered between the A and B sides of some of the maps (Liberation Peak is a joke for balance).

Cairo is kinda ok if I had to pick one of the three, though I still wish destruction was more dynamic. You can blow out some of the walls but the rubble falls down and forms new walls you can't cross into. All of it just forces you into the streets. The Finals does a much better job at all of this.

Aside from the maps the game just feels meh. Lots of getting lasered down / shot in the back. Weapon balance is insanely off the mark and they shouldn't need public beta testing to know that. I also understand that it's a beta but the content on offer is really shallow. I don't expect there will be that much more content in the full release making this also feel like a slice of a battlefield game rather than a whole experience. Even in the weapons shown off there's no 8x or 12x scopes. No IR / NV scopes. No water maps or boats. I'm not even sure they have a vision for what the Recon or Assault roles should represent in terms of team comp. They just kind of exist because legacy reasons. The whole experience feels watered down.

does anyone has a controller settings to match whats like in call of duty ? i am finding the movement is a bit stiff when looking around ( not aiming down as I fixed that ) I also adjusted the deadzone. but it still feels a bit off
i watch this dude from time to time for his CoD videos. i havent tried it since im playing kb/m but try it out:

Ill be home from work in like an hour and finally try this.

It's making me sweat though the amount of negativity Im seeing in here. BF 2, 3, and 4 were some of my favorite gaming memories and I typically cant stand COD multi.

Im getting a little nervous... praying yall are just being haters hahaha.

It's a lot of haters and in general people are just negative about everything.

I've had a great time. Sure there are some wonky things but it's a beta and it's Battlefield. I've put probably 8 hours in so far.

At first I was ehm ..this game looks kinda bad, then changed to 4Ks creen [from native 2560x1440] with DLSS perf and even that looks soooo much better now.

After playing a few games, I'm loving what I've played so far. Sound design, as always in a BF, is so good. Firing the default AR rocks the sub and sounds so punchy and meaty.
I've managed to get it running around 70-80FPS on my 3070ti, but sometimes it dips below 60. Pretty much have to run at low graphics + DLSS balanced, but it still looks great! Definitaly planning an upgrade before release.

In terms of what I don't like, I think there's a bit of COD DNA in this... I think it's the speed.. also these maps are a bit too chaotic for me. But overall the gameplay is good.
This absolutely needs a server browser. Not just playlists. Not sure if it's just the beta, but the matchmaking is shockingly bad and most servers are 50% bots even though there is a flooded player base.

Really enjoying this , streamed it this morning and will do again this lunch time and evening.

PC is incredible.performance and visuals are brilliant reminds me of BF1 especially on the big level with snow "siege 13".

Gave it a quick go on PS5pro, yikes. Low res , choppy, menus in 30fps. Controls and haptic are nice though.

If anyone cares here's my video of starting and playing it. Skip to 11m for gameplay.

I looks like shit on console, people have such low standards.

Which console? Pro looks pretty good imo.
On pro too, that stuff looks bad. All that shimmering. And balanced mode is super choppy.. that one guy that says it runs at 60 fps on balanced mode 🤣🤣🤣 the menu, hell even the shooting range are running in the 30fps range, for a shooter this caliber it can only be performance which looks like shit.

Not sure they're taking advantage of the pro but this is a game to get on PC.

The 30fps in the range is definitely happening, presumably a bug. But I just played a full match on balanced mode, it was definitely 60fps, didn't see any drops.

These graphics look like all they did was give Battlefield 4 a resolution boost. It looks like a remaster.
After playing for a few hours on the Series X, I have to say the same. Graphically, especially the wall textures, are straight from BF4. But I'm happy with the overall experience because BF is back again for me.

the tension in a high skilled game of CS where both teams are 20k+ rank and it's down to the last round is still thrilling for me. It's been that way for near 20 years. Such a great game, and so tight mechanically that it's hard to beat. The learning curve is wider than your momma.
I'm not sure what point you're trying to prove. CS is great, yes, it's also a completely different kind of game. CS =/= BF in any way. Both contain strategy, but both wildly different forms of it. But both great IPs IMO. Wow, hilarious.

Got a couple of hours in. The map sizes and flow are a bummer as many folks here have already commented on, but also the game is too fast. It almost feels like its sped up. If the speed of most things could be reduced by around ~15-20%, then I think that would be enough to improve the game's flow and just slightly decrease the chaos while increasing the opportunities to strategize and work with your team. That includes movement speed, grenade throwing, and some of the weapon reloads (RPG reload is way too fast and one of the reasons why vehicles are not that survivable).

I wish I had more of an opportunity to play the Tajikstan map, but I kept on being dropped into Cairo and the Gibraltar one (my least favorite). I think thats why the lack of a server browser feels like such a big omission, not being able to choose exactly what maps you want to play is not ideal.

Played a bit on PS5 then PC and I couldn't hit shit on console but did alright on mkb. I honestly expected the opposite but still good fun.

The Problem with these small maps is there is barely any vertically. Even when BF4 had small maps you could enter nearly every building and rooftops were accessible.

Well, that is a bollocks stat. Everybody is on twitch because if you watch a streamer for 30min they will give you early access to the beta. I have never seen that before. It massively inflated the engagement
and nothing is wrong with that. give more awareness to the game and people to enjoy it. Thus, potentially more sales. smart.

Got to rank 15 , finally weapons are clicking but the bullet registration is off. I'm literally on their heads and feel like I'm hitting 5tons of steel plate.

Yeah, i dont really care, but It was a bit annoying having to navigate that cesspool of a site just to get a code. All I was pointing out was why the numbers were so high

There is nothing that feels better than holding down the trigger on a 200 round belt fed lmg with the bipod out and mowing down 15 people in corridor with chaos and frantic revives padding the kill count fuuuuark

There absolutely are superior experiences with LMGs in games, it's called Suppression Assist, best feeling in the world knowing you're actively assisting your team and effectively countering snipers, that's Battlefield, this isn't.

You're playing a shitty Ground War in MW2019 rendition by EA and their marketing is screaming at you "This is Battlefield you dumbfuck retard buy buy buy now now NOW NOW AAAAH!"

Anyone pushing this bullshit reddit tier positivity can suck a dick.

Good day.

EDIT: What pisses me off the most is that I like Vince Zampella, dude's a stud but he was dealt such an unbelievably shit hand with this game and he'll likely end up eating the criticism instead of the assholes behind 2042 and this shit.

Played a good 6 hours today. It's been the most I've played in a single day in probably 5 years. gun play is fun, TTK is pretty fast and seems even more so in close quarters. Not much opportunity for outplays in close quarters gun fights, but mid to long range engagements will reward the more skilled player.

The guns definetly have their effective ranges, and you're probably going to have a bad time trying to compete with a weapon outside of its intended range. Shotguns are pretty overpowered right now as well.

Game is great imo though. I've played every BF game since Bad Campany 1 and to me this feels most like a mix between BF3 and BF1, which were two of my favorite titles (along with bad company 2 of course).

For those who find that the game is too crowded and seem to be getting killed from all directions, I'd recommend trying the Breakthrough mode. IMO its a lot less chaotic than Conquest as it has a sense of order in terms of spawns and more of a consistent flow towards the objectives. Just my opinion anyway.

I know im in the minority as Conquest is the battlefield staple but I think Operations/Breakthrough has been the superior mode since it was introduced in BF1. Have never been much of a Conquest player. Always preferred Rush in the older titles.

Played around 3 hours and something feels off to me, it's definitely not the Battlefield 3/4 reboot they once again claimed it would be. The maps are too small, the gunplay is too hectic, you can't engage tactically because it's just a clusterfuck everywhere. The best thing about 3/4 was being able to flank bases while the enemy was distracted elsewhere. It really doesn't seem possible in this.
Thats because you had 16vs16 or 12vs12. 32vs32 makes it much harder for you to run around like you're rambo like in COD. It puts more emphasis on communication and teamwork.

Yeah I've only been playing breakthrough. It's like rush meets conquest.

I don't know if its the video quality or it looks like shit on consoles to maintain all these explosions, but on PC with a high end card, it look stunning. my jaw was actually on the floor of everything ( especially when I was on top of a house that actually collapsed on me. i was super impressed lol.

I am not that noob camper lol. But I agree. This game is amazing, and I never really liked BF games before. mainly because I was only on COD 4 when I was a kid. When I started to look into BF, it was BF 4, which was decent, but I didn't have a PC then, so it was shit on PS3? went back to COD at that time and never looked back.

When I started to have a decent PC, it was BF1, I think? And I don't like World War 1/2 guns and shit, so I passed on that as well and heard negative things about the last BF, whatever number it was.

This? Oh my god, so intense. I didn't even play anything but domination, and when the game is out, it will be domination and team deathmatch. I am too old for jets and stuff. not used to them yet.

But yeah, I already bought the game. That's how much I love it ( I didn't even ever preorder a game on PC. always on release or day before or way later when its dirt cheap if I don't care about it much.

I mean, it's been ages since I played so much in one day. I am already above 6 hours in one day

The netcode is definitely wonky. Hit reg reminded me of how a new COD plays for the first few weeks after release. I'm optimistic the game will play a lot smoother and even look better once they get their servers in order. Man, these smaller maps would be so much better if they lowered the player count. They should test that with the beta. Would be way more fun with less players.

Kind of unrelated, but digging that collection of yours, are you into anime and from the Middle East, per chance?

Just testing my instincts out, nice, man, Tekken 8 rules. Careful with sharing pics of your library online.
not revealing any information, no user name / email is being shared. I also have 2FA on my phone. It won't log in without a code. But thanks for the warning ^_^

Has Dice ever made changes to the TTK? I really hate cod influence here. I think the small and busy looking cairo map exacerbates it, you cant see shit and that's questionable level design over aesthetics imo

The destruction is kinda weak, i wish i can use multiple c4 to clear away vehicles wrecks or create a crater to stop tanks or to create some cover

They'll fix the TTK and bullet spread, anything that is basic and limited to sliders they will eventually fix after they get telemetry back, anything that goes too deep into Frostbite they won't be able to edit because the people who know their shit is making another game at a different studio now.

This game is kind of a great example of the potential long-term dangers of weirdo proprietary engines.

I have no idea how it works at EA today but years ago it was mentioned that Frostbite has a centralized expert group that deals with all of EAs games, so you can imagine if someone wants to change or fix something in a BF game, they'll have to raise a request with that group, but in comes EA FC and Madden etc and those requests overwrite the BF ones because they're higher priority, so you're stuck in the back of the queue waiting, as far as I know back in the day DICE had their own dedicated dudes who were magicians with the engine, but obviously with time people move on, retire etc, so really you can't lay the blame on the peeps on the ground and rather with executives making bigger strategic decisions.

I mean if you studied your BSC and you're out of uni, and you want to get into game engines, you'll probably go for an engine that is widely adopted with readily available knowledge resources and support instead of a weird proprietary one that limits your own career prospects to like one publisher, so yeah I can imagine Frostbite SMEs are very limited.

EDIT: Can't speak for advanced AI, maybe they'll be able to conjure SMEs out of thin air one day, sure as shit didn't do that with this game, but maybe one day in the future, that would flip the script on Frostbite immediately.

The server tickrate feels like the same garbage experience like release BF4 was, all these instances where you jump a guy and then get instakilled in 1 frame is basically the server saying to you fuck you, you got shot at for 2 seconds and all the damage got packaged into 1 frame.

Also so much getting hit at around the corner like still getting hit at a good 1-2 meters around it.

Right, getting cod killed is just not fun, there's no need for ammo or medics or repairs

I also hope they can add some player weight/momentum to give that added possibilities

That said, i only played 30mins of cairo before logging off for work

Doesn't BF games get sales 3 months later? Probably will buy a copy during the Christmas sales 🤪

I've changed my mind on auto spotting on the recon class. I think it's a good idea. One of my main complaints in the BC2/B3 era was snipers who didn't spot anyone and were just playing for montage clips.
