I'm not sure how I feel about it so far. I'm not a fan of conquest on the maps I was playing. They felt too constricted with odd choke points which left little room to apply real strategy with snipers basically sitting everywhere in the buildings. I miss some of the bigger maps from BF3 and 4 that gave the player way more room to move around and find different ways to attack an objective. Hopefully the full release includes more big maps.
They need to find tune sniping a bit in my opinion, the glint from scopes is fucking outrageous and makes no sense, tone it down a bit so anyone zooming in can actually see the sniper to hit them. In addition the glint is annoying for snipers since anyone and everyone can see them as soon as they ADS. Take it back to basics like in the older games.
When I tried Breakthrough I was having a much better time. The attack and defend gameplay on one of the maps (some snowy 'ridge' map or whatever) was pretty fun and I can see classes playing a really important role (the spawn beacon in particular is vital).
It's a Shame that most players I came across don't revive or at least try to play the objective, they're all scared of being killed when they should be rushing the objective in numbers. It seems the beta attracted a lot of COD players which is annoying, I hope they either play the game properly on release, or just fuck off back to COD.
I'm also a bit disappointed they didn't include Rush in the beta as this is one of my favourite game types in Battlefield these days.
Performance on PC and PS5 Pro is really good, no complaints there, but there are quite a few bugs that need ironing out before release. The ones I came across I'll list below.
- I got hit in game and the camera bugged which resulted in the camera staying still but I could see myself and move around in the distance, had to be killed for it to fix itself.
- Scopes bugged out and there was a weird swirling texture whenever I ADS that wouldn't go away until respawn.
- The in-game map is weird and buggy, it would just zoom in and out randomly when selecting spawn locations.
- Options menu is really buggy in that sometimes it works, sometimes you cannot scroll through options at all or whilst trying to select options the menu gets stuck and you have to close and open the menu again.
Oh and the most annoying issue on PS5 is that I couldn't find a way to disable adaptive triggers, which feel horrible in this game to the point it's clearly a disadvantage. I had to disable it through system settings.
All in all I was hoping I'd go into the beta really excited for the full release, but I didn't. It's not to say I don't like what I played, it just didn't meet my expectations following what they showed.
