Battlefield 6 Beta |OT| Open Beta/Closed Weapons.

'spiritual successor' to BF3 and 4 they're calling it. But even the biggest map is a fraction of the size of some of the maps from those games.....the closer we get to release the more disappointed I feel

Thats kind of the point. Its space that allows you to approach objectives from different directions and it also allows them to spread out the objectives on two axis, rather than one.
It was well beyond the space needed to do that. Golmud had huge areas that were pointless to the flow of the map, flanking or not.

Whether or not the larger of the new maps allows for that is to be seen.

The Firestorm layout leaked and compared to BF4 it looks like a good amount of the playable space was shrunk down....

To me this almost basically the same, not sure what you mean by "a good amount". They just changed part of the layout to belong to a spawn now.

Also remember that BF4 did make some of the BF3 maps bigger, I recall even Firestorm was a little smaller in layout in BF3.

Those no HUD videos are a huge tease. Hopefully they let us dial in the customization settings more so than the beta. This game was meant to be played with as few icons on the screen as possible.

Pretty much done with the xp grind for the 2042 battle pass. Just hit level 32 so now I can just do the weekly challenges to finish it.

More XP events!
We've heard your concerns that you might have missed out on an XP weekend already, or might miss one of the upcoming ones, making it harder to catch up and get all the items from the Free Battlepass you've wanted. We therefore will have a double XP events every weekend until the Free Battlepass ends on October 7. Additionally, the last two weekends will feature triple XP gains, so keep those circled in your calendar!

This weeks BF2042 battle pass challenges are so bad that I'm considering not finishing it. Not only are they all tedious vehicle based challenges but Dice are now offering less points than last week.

First thing I did in the beta was remove the kill feed, tooltips, and in-game chat. What else would you turn off?

I turned those off as well. The opacity settings of objectives didn't seem to work properly when aiming down sights. I'd also remove the squad info next to the map, remove the score board at the top of the screen, reduce the size of the mini map, reduce the size of the ammo and gadget info, and anything else to make things less cluttered. I didn't see any of these options in the beta. It would be great to be able to turn off the spotting diamonds but I'm really hoping they just do away with those in general. 2042 has most of these options so I'm optimistic.

Tedious = hitting a vehicle a single time with a shoulder-mounted rocket, apparently. Seriously, just one Lis rocket is all it took! :messenger_grinning_smiling:

I'd argue the revives in smoke and healing challenges were much more tedious, mostly because many players don't give you the chance to revive and are blind to health packs.

This week's challenges are basically just "play engineer". I played ONE round as engineer just now and easily completed 3 of them.

Tbh, at this point just let me buy the bf6 skins for like £10, can't stand the chore of playing 2042, it's just a boring experience and a meh game.

2000 vehicle damage is tedious for someone who doesn't give a shit about playing engineer.

I've stopped caring about the objective. Fire javelins, redeploy for more. I'm completely checked out.

Engineer is the most re**rded class. Face f**k a tank for half the match with your tool out, or stare at the sky half the match with your javelin hoping there's another idiot like you on your team doing the same thing.

Apparently footage of what presumably is the first DLC map, 'badlands', has also leaked. The amount of leaks is quite something. At this rate the entire game will be shown off before it even releases.

I've already decided to shut everything out and only watch official footage and media in general.
