Best looking visuals in a video game?

Muramasa if it had a 4K port. Pretty bummed to read rcently that there's things preventing the team bringing it to modern consoles.

Batman: Arkham Knight still looks really impressive for a game that's almost eight years old
Hell, it looks better than a lot of AAA games getting released today

Especially that now we have the graphical power to run these nvidia smoke effects on PC that used to be a slideshow. I played the game last year and i was blown away by it. Very good looking.

Hard to Kill
The last time I was truly amazed is with Ghost of Tsushima's openning when you ride the horse on a filed of grass, seeing trees and grass swaying with the wind.I know it is probably not the best technical visuals but it was amazing.

Definitely the Last of Us 2 for me. Everything looks great, but the animation is a few tiers above anything else.

There are so many gorgeous games these days that Im constantly amazed. My eyes are also getting worse though. :/

This is a hard one, and many of us are sure to be subjective. But as someone else said it here there are many categories to determine this. Artistic, realistic, technical, etc.
As a PC guy, I'm not subjective, I think the Playstation exclusives are the ones that are all round the best ones, I mean, for one they are the most polished ones for sure. I don't like the PS games in terms of gameplay, so I hope I'm not stepping on someones toes here, but as far as visuals, for me they are at the top.

Same reason R* usually downgrades their single player games.. their damn Multiplayer modes.
It's the most infuriating shit ever, especially when downgrades get later ported on more powerful machines.

@SkyHighTrees Add draw distance and AO to the list, massive difference for both.

AO difference is absolutely awful for characters especially:

But in general game had a unique pre-rendered quality thanks to it which is not there anymore.

And what's worse to me is draw distance, as you said LOD management was jaw dropping in 1.00 with practically non-existent pop-in, when any version after display tons of missing trees/shadows all over the place.

I mean look behind the characters, it's insane:

Another person awarre of version 1.00! There aren't many of us out there. I own a 4090 PC and still only play v1.00 because of how many things were removed.

Heavier volumetric effects, more frequent weather systems, better sunrise and sunset lighting, better ambient occlusion, much more abundant wildlife, you can use shirtless Arthur as well as use his closed winter coat from the prologue throughout the whole game.

One day it'll be possible to emulate this, removed of its checkerboard.. or even better the One X version.

But maybe we'll get lucky, and RDR 2 finally receives a tasteful native current gen port restoring all of its original immaculate visual glory.

I have been considering getting a series X just for 1.00 haha. Since it runs in native 4K on there.
