It's not the exact same visuals, and it's not Nintendo nor players business what other companies deliver and how their fans cry about it. Metroid looks amazing as is, and it will look even better on Switch 2.

I mean that's the actual issue.. Nintendo does not exist in a vacuum on its own.
Other companies exist and they deliver graphical improvements with every new installment. Even on old hardware.

The PS360 comparisons are fair, but most of the games compared were 30fps or lower slop.

Some people here clearly have no clue about graphics rendering. Saying Halo 4 on Xbox 360 looks remotely close to MP4 is not just false, but ignorant and disrepects the devs hard work.
Texture quality, geometric fidelity and especially the lighting all are way ahead of 7th gen titles. This simply looks outstanding, especially considering the hardware, I can only applaud Retro Studios.
Perhaps some here are allergic to aliasing, and just anti-aliased image to aliased image makes people's brains go "former looks better" I can't think of any other reason.

Yeah, the ground textures in particular look pretty rough and improving them for the hypothetical Switch 2 would have a major effect on my perception of the graphics, I think.
The enemy and environmental design look fantastic and some of the overall muddiness would be improved by a simple resolution bump (as the uncompressed footage and screenshots show), so I do think a Switch 2 version has the potential to look really fucking good, but you're right that they would have to change some textures (and maybe add some foliage) to get there.

Those graphical improvements mean nothin if there's a good art direction, they can help boost graphics but far from be all end all, if people from other brands don't like the approach, they're free to not play Nintendo games. What's the point of complaining? I play on PC and still think Metroid Prime 4 looks amazing (except for IQ which Switch 2 will fix anyway).
Besides, they don't exist in a vacuum yet the thread is about best looking game on Switch, not ever on any platform.

Why doesn't it have tech from 20 years ago? If they added basic stuff like real shadows it wouldn't be 60 fps would it?
And some people were arguing it's not the best looking game on the Switch.
It doesn't need to have the latest technology either. But in motion there's edge lines dancing around the screen, and extremely low quality environment textures and models. Samus herself is very high rez so anyone just staring there won't see the issue. But there are many other games on the Switch without these issues.

For 720p/30fps Crysis 3 remastered on Switch is more impressive than KZ2/3 on PS3

It looks good for a game running at 900p/60 on the Switch. I was surprised to see so many comparing it to Xbox 360/ PS3 games. Yes, its similar when looking at specific details but 720p/30 was the target on those systems. I recently hooked my PS3 up to my TV and it was like playing Star Wing after years and being blown away more by the fact that you played it unaware that it was running at 15 fps. So many 7th gen games are 576p/20s frame rate. looks awful on modern displays even compared to Switch.
